I really like Mazzucchelli. He's great at action like in Year One and can tell a complete story through visuals. Asterios Polyp is one of my favorite books because it used visual language to accentuate character moments.
I prefer cartoony styles to the more photorealistic work of Alex Ross or detailed stuff from people like Mankhe because it can really convey motion.

I think that's true for most creators outside of capeds. In fact, I think most of them are more then adequate colorists/inkers, but aren't able to do it because of time constraints. People give Quitely flack because they find the way he draws faces unappealing, it's super frustrating because he's SO good at so many things other artists are incapable of even attempting. "Lumpy faces" is not a good enough reason for me to dismiss all of his other artistic strengths. His run on B&R is one of my all time favourites - just the joy with which he played around with panelling and different ways of showing effect, it was amazing for any comic fan.
I dunno if I'd place him as high as Eisner, but he's one of the best caped artists of all time for sure.

Quietly is indeed very skilled but something about his style is just very... off-putting for me despite that. It's a mixture of the way he draws faces and the weird texture stuff he has going on all over peoples' bodies. I still like him to an extent and never considered him bad but it's just something that holds him back in my personal rating with him.

Eric Powell and Guy Davis are among my favorites. I just love the way how they draw people in general. Eduardo Risso is another due to his godlike usage of shadows/shading like with Mignola but from a completely different technique.

Mazz, the Master. Seeing him evolve from Daredevil to Bats to Rubber Blanket, City of Glass then to AP...I fell in love with that style as soon as I saw the previews. You can tell he absorbed some devices from Ware (even from his own pupil at SVA, Dash Shaw) and even though the plot is kinda Hollywood "meh" the drawing and characterisation makes it a 9/10 book, for sure.
Steve Rude's probably my favorite ever cape/genrestuff artist, influenced several generations...Jaime Hernandez, definitely...R.Crumb (I REALLY like Aline's work, too!)...Clowes. Too many to mention. Going slightly more obscure I LOVE David B, Sammy Harkham, Walt Holcombe and Stephane Blanquet. Jose Munoz...and can't beat Al Columbia for spoops. Oh and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Debbie Drechsler, Julie Doucet and Jim Woodring. And Killoffer, Hunt Emerson and Tim Hensley. Really dig Marcos Martin and Joe Quinones on the last Howard The duck was great, know I'll get shit for this but I dig Pulido a lot, too. And Guy Davis.

As far as classics, Jack Kirby is worthy of his reputation. His style is iconic with clean linework and kinetic action. It's a shame so much of his work was destroyed by shitty lazy inkers like Vince Colletta.
When you compare his pencils to the finished inks it really makes you appreciate how those names you always ignore really add or detract from the work.

Ah, the Colletta meme rears it's head! Actually Eddie Campbell wrote a really reasoned, considered defence of his inking (some stuff, like erasing whole parts of a composition, is indefensible, though) that I found myself agreeing with in places...I think he brought a finer, more delicate touch which (at best) counterbalanced yet complimented the weight of Kirby's art well. 'Course he was no Royer...but then I can't figure out why people slag off Don Heck, either.
And if Colletta was lazy, then so was Kirby--he inked almost as many pages in a day as Kirby pencilled! If you're calling him a hack then that's partly true but lazy, nope.
Restricting it to whoever illustrates print comic books that grew up in the west, I gotta say Chris Bachalo. His art looks weird sometimes, though.
