What confuses me the most about Bee Movie is - who is it for? Is it actually an adult animated movie? A good 60% of the jokes would make no sense to the average kid.
Gnomeo and Juliet really wasn't that bad, average but not unwatchable
I didn't mind Bee movie. It wasn't good but it wasn't terrible. It was just The Seinfeld CGI movie, really.

I thought this when I first saw it. Kids are not going to get Ray Liotta and Sting jokes and the main plot is an average sitcom style in the city romance story. Only with a talking bee. There is really not much for kids there. And adults really don't care about a cartoon bee romance plot.

Honestly, Bee Movie isn't that bad compared to a lot of things. There are good jokes in there, it's not like Seinfeld is a bad comedian, it's just not very good either.
It's just so bizarre in how they wrote the whole thing. Why use bees when they have everything set up as a stereotypically human (nuclear family and all that) society instead of a matriarchy? Why have the movie be centered around an in-depth romance between a bee and a human? Why is the climax a lawsuit over people using bees as livestock when they had hidden their sentience? Hell how did they miss all the bee items, houses and other shit that we can see in the movie? Did no one really look at a simple Wikipedia article to understand how pollination works?
There's artistic liberties, and then there's the whole host of bizarre plot devices that Bee Movie is entirely based on and continues to introduce one after another. It's less like watching a trainwreck and more like looking through a portal to a dimension that defies all logic.
