In Kung Food, you could clearly see that Marinette was more comfortable around Adrien and their friendship was progressing (Does that count?)
In Anti-bug, we get 2 akumas and I guess theres some non-romantic relationship development with Chat and Ladybug.
In Jackady, obviously more evidence of who Hawkmoth is as well as some tension between Adrien and his father (not to mention Gabriel being suspicious of Adrien's ring)

They might develop her into something else. Of course, they could develop Chloe into something else as well. I guess it's just "Why?" What, is she supposed to be a foil to Chloe? Something like "What if Chloe was smarter, more charming, and eventually developed into a better person instead of remaining a super bitch for all time?" I guess that could work. But they really should have waited until Season 2. Introducing her now when she still is a Chloe clone (Chlone?) and then leaving her that way for a nearly year long hiatus is not going to endear people to the character. Our first impressions of the character are going to be set in stone by the time season 2 comes around.
And the love triangle bullshit. You know, this show had a unique charm to it that made it worth watching despite the flaws. The absolutely adorable double romance between the two leads was no small part of that. A generic and unwatchable love triangle destroys that charm. Now all we've got are various suggestive poses and situations with Chat Noir. Which will not carry this show on its own for long. Also, while we clamored for Deepest Lore, I fear we may regret that. I'm not sure what we were expecting, but Shangri-La nonsense probably wasn't it. And that seems to be where they are going because: Tibet. Whenever Tibet shows up in fiction you know damn well what that means. Shangri-La. I mean, that does make sense given the Miraculous are implied to be magical artifacts from Easternish Asia. But still. I fear the Lore to this show isn't going to be all that good or satisfying.

Chat Noir breaking out of the camera world with his Cataclysm was awesome but it was pretty lame. We can sympathize with most people who get Akuma-tized but they didn't make the fanboy sympathetic at all. He has the picture collection thing like Marionette has but they only play up the creepy factor. I don't know. It just didn't sit well with me.

I like it better when we thought Jackady was the season finale. That episode had a hook to keep the audience interested ("I never noticed you wore a ring before") without setting up a cliffhanger right before going into hiatus.
It also focused on Gabriel Agreste, who is not only certain to be the main villain Hawk Moth, he is also a major component to Adrien's life, backstory, and development. He was also largely undeveloped prior to that episode (unless you count being nice enough in "Mr. Pigeon" and a total asshole in "Bubbler"). Here, they give us a completely new character that nobody cares about, doesn't really matter, and is too much like a preexisting character (Chloe). Why? One episode is not enough time to properly develop a character. They should have waited until season 2 to introduce Lila.
In short, "Volpina" tried to add too much, too quickly, and it ultimately didn't go anywhere. It is also a cliffhanger finale, meaning the audience gets no real closure from Season 1 and has to wait nearly a year for Season 2.
By contrast, there was a strange sense of closure in "Jackady." The veil that had surrounded Gabriel Agreste and the particulars of Adrien's home life had at last been lifted. We got to see who our villain was, get some idea of what motivated him, and learn that he and his son really did love each other. Questions that had been lurking throughout Season 1 had been answered at least partially. It looked like Gabriel might have figured out his son's secret, teasing major developments in the future regarding Hawk Moth, and in doing so it appeared to signal a denouement to the Hawk Moth saga that defined Season 1.
