Yes. How much money would an adaptation of DC vs. Marvel make?

Captain America and Superman.

>>
If I had to guess, I'd bank on BvS making more money. Marvel may have the arguably superior brand reputation compared to DC right now, but BvS has Batman and Superman. That shit's gonna make a billion easy if you factor in global gross.

Most normies aren't aware of any of this console wars shit, nor do they care.
>>
>>80863142

I think it'll take a bit longer to reach it compared to BvS.

And for the record, I'm not all that interested in seeing BvS, and I didn't like MoS. I'm just going with what my gut tells me will make the most money (or at least make a shitload of money the fastest), and it'll be the two biggest superheroes in media history going toe-to-toe in a live-action blockbuster for the first time.
>>
>>80863120
I don't know, man. Cap is pretty popular nowadays
>>
Civil War looks a lot better
BvS also has superman holding the film down
There's a chance BvS could be loved by casuals but there's no casual friendly characters in the movie apart from batman and no meme actors to save the film

Look at Suicide Squad
That's how you make a movie for casuals
full of color and crazy stuff happening
>>
>>80863038
like how Man of Steal is the most grossing superhero movie?
oh wait
>>
>>80863206

What the fuck does that even mean?
>>
>>80862706
Well Batman and Iron Man are like ridiculously more popular than Superman and Captain america

Its not really hard to see who will be favored
>>
>>80863079
casuals don't come on /co/
look at reddit and compare /r/batman to /r/superman

One has way more subscribers its almost a joke to compare their casual fanbases
>>
>>80863230
Popular actors.
>>
I think the problem is DC dug itself into a hole with Bale Batman. Casuals will now be "not muh Batman" when they see Affleck and won't flock to the theaters to soo BvS. Meanwhile Marvel has been herding casuals to theaters since Iron Man 1.
>>
>>80862706
After seeing both, I think normies will like the Batman v Superman fight more than Cap vs Iron Man.
>>
>>80862706
DC is making a film. Marvel is making yet another flick. The "just turn ur brain off lol!!1" crowd will love Civil War and shit on BvS while all the 110+ IQ people will say BvS is the best cape movie ever made.
>>
>>80863079
>>80863038
The irony is not lost on me that /co/ spends the year shitting on casuals about well everything but when it comes to their precious capeshit blockbuster movies they absolutely hope the casuals love the movie and make it successful.

A pretty sad testament to the state of the DC fandom.
>>
>>80863350

I'm not really a DC fan, I have no investment in regards to whether Marvel or DC films succeed, and I don't give a single damn about "casuals".
>>
>>80863230
someone who is loved or known by the GP because of how quirky they are IRL or in their performances

For instance look at RDJ and Chris Pratt
quirky meme actors irl
whereas you have the tom hardy and jared leto
who are quirky in their performances
>>
Why is everyone so obsessed with how much money these movies are going to make? If fucking deadpool can be successful it's safe to assume these will both cross a billion easy.
>>
>>80863230
Jennifer Lawrence
>>
>>80863390

So why not just call them "quirky" actors instead of essentially describing them as "cultural in-joke actors"?
>>

Iron Man does though.
>>
>>80863413

>>
>>80862706
The majority of /co/ favours CW. BVS is just the same people recycling the same posts everyday.

It's evident by the IPs in each thread, CW always has more IPs even with less posts, and in BvS threads a large chunk of the posters are just making fun of all the shills.
>>
>>80863429

>>
>>80863686

>>
I think both will make over a billion but none of them will reach Furious 7 or Jurassic World levels, let alone 2 Billion like Star Wars The Force Awakens.

In fact I think 2016 will have more big hits in general than 2015 but. Just not any as big as Furious 7 or Star Wars 7.
>>
>>80863720
But the casuals are right, Superman as a character is boring.

His stories may not be,but in 75 years of history there are only a few instances he's been written with depth and well-rounded characteristics, something that other characters carry in each and every one of their appearances, like Batman or Spiderman.

The bottom line is that casuals are right and they will be right until you prove them wrong with arguments instead of just murmuring"you haven't read the comics" and "if you don't like superman you're a bad person".
>>

>>

In the current BvS hype thread the consensus seems to be that critics don't matter because they're hacks that will judge the movie unfairly and at the same time they're celebrating because a few of them gave good ratings

Although i wouldn't say it's the DC fandom going to shit, it's just retards being retards

Yeah, I was born in 88, I've only seen dark Batmen being popular during my lifetime.

That said, the campy Adam West Batman barely lasted two seasons before people got tired of it.
>>
>>80863842
Batman interesting?
I'd say that Batman has even LESS decent character stories and half of those aren't even centred on him anyway.
Killing Joke is considered one of his best comics and its really a Joker comic anyway, Bats is barely in it.
Mostly because he requires his villains to make him interesting.

I don't get it

I was just reading posts of people talking about how they love that Snyder is using Supes as "a mirror of our society" and how BvS is now a message "against the sanitization of violence"

It's Zack fucking Snyder
Zack "Nite Owl and Silk can break people's bones" Snyder
Zack "Persians really need monsters on their ranks otherwise they don't look like villains enough" Snyder
Zack "dude, samurai strippers lmao" Snyder

It was like a text version of pic related, at this point it's beyond wether MoS is a good movie or not
>>
>>80864823
Snyder convinced a lot of people that the property damage in "Man of Steel" was an intentional part of the movie's message.

While I respect his decision to face his fuck-up head-on rather than try sweeping it under the rug like the did in the end of MoS, it has given birth to whole new slew of strawman arguments by rabid defenders.

Burton did have pushback. You just didn't notice because the internet wasn't around to collate it and admittedly it wasn't as big since there were a couple decades between Adam West and Tim Burton to dull the outrage

Clooney almost the franchise. Out of all the Batman movies in existence it's easily the most reviled. So yeah, people did go "Not muh Batman" to that.
>>
>>80864823
Snyder didn't write the movie. An Oscar winning writer did.

>>80864823

>>
>>80864419
Sorry but you really don't know what you're saying if you think 60's Batman wasn't insanely popular and a cultural touchstone for decades after it aired.

To the majority of the world, that WAS Batman. To them saying that they were making a dark Batman movie was like saying they were gonna make a violent and dark Flintstones reboot.

I guess it's hard to imagine today, but at the time literally nobody except comic fans knew Batman had been dark for a long time. There was even a petition to get Keaton replaced with Adam West because people believed noone else should be allowed to play Batman.

I can't understate how much Batman '89 singlehandedly changed the entire world's perception of Batman.
>>
>>80865068
You have to consider that Terrio still had to use Goyer's stuff, fixing a supposedly bad script doesn't necessarily mean trashing it completely. Plus "Oscar winning" writers and actors costantly do a lot worse, it's not a guaranteed seal of quality. Plus the director is always an influence
>>
>>80865108
I'm not saying that it's gonna be the most amazing thing ever or award winning, but saying it's gonna be stupid because Snyder is wrong.

As influential as West Batman was, people got sick of it pretty fast in the sixties. That's why it only got two seasons, and why after the first, it was retooled, and it lost a lot of its budget.

Campy stuff never does too well. That's why Twin Peaks only lasted two seasons too.

BvS? I think there will be a lot of casuals that go out to see it opening day, but then it's going to bomb pretty hard after that when bad word of mouth spreads.

Then it will sort of be a laughing stock until Civil War comes out, and they'll accept that much better.

What remains to be seen is if BvS has an overrall negative impact on the cape movie genre and other, better films suffer because of it.

Batman (Burton to Nolan) = $4.758 BN

Spider-Man (Tobey to Andrew1) = $3.821 BN + (Andrew2) $0.709 = $4.530 BN

**And remember ... this is adjusted for inflation.
**Consider Batman (1989)
-- domestic adjusted is $547.7 M [that's just domestic which is over half it's gross].
-- Batman (1989) home video release was the SAME DAY as the theatrical release (first and only time it's been done); which means, repeat viewership happened at home.
