The show returns from its hiatus today. I don't have a good feeling about this episode, but I've been wrong before. In it, a group of children form their own lion guard and end up getting in trouble and needing rescued. Plots like these generally never end up well, as kids are annoying little shits. At least it does seem to reconfirm that the main characters aren't exactly children themselves.
As usual, the episode is out early on Disney Junior's website.
It used to be easier to find information about the show before Donald Trump's supporters decides to name their "militia" the lion guard. Every other result online is now about Trump.
The children aren't too annoying - so far, at least. Beshte sings a song, but I skipped through it.

Upcoming episodes are "The Call Of The Drongo" next Friday. "Painting & Predictions" the Friday after that. Then the show has another hiatus until April 22nd, when "The Mbali Fields Migration" airs. The Friday after that, "Bunga & The King". I guess Simba will have to put up with Bunga's shit for a while.

It's almost too much effort. And the occasional better animated parts make the worse parts look even worse.
All I know is that, regardless of the quality of the animation or the writing, the show has been a smash hit for Disney Junior. Kids love it. It dominated the ratings for all preschool programming, and the merchandise and music programs have been doing very well from what I've seen across social media..

The only thing about this show that really gets on my nerves is Simba's voice. It just feels too different from Matthew Broderick's and the other VA's who've played Simba in other media.
I do like some of the interactions between Kion and Kiara.

Well, Kiara didn't seem to be as into her being queen as her friends were when she had to substitute for Simba & Nala.
I don't really remember Kiara not wanting to be queen in the Lion King 2 so much as disliking Simba's being so protective and not being allowed to do what she wanted, whether that was to be queen or not.
She only seems to throw the queen thing in Kion's face now and then to bug him.

It's better than it would seem to be. The movie was horrible. I had low expectations. They were wise to have the best episode to date as the series premiere, as if they had aired a bad episode first, I doubt I would have given it much of my time.
It's still a children's cartoon, but I don't feel entirely embarrassed while watching it. Really, the songs are the only thing that make me cringe, but a handful of episodes actually have decent songs. Most of them are shit.
I'm starting to wonder if, at this point, /co/ will even care when the Kovu, Nuka and Vitani episode airs. It'll likely be months from now and the show barely has fans as it is.

I mean, when the "militia" was first formed, it was called The Lion's Guard. They said they wanted to guard Trump, who they view as a lion. But the guy instantly shut down the twitter and website because he claimed he got threats against his family. So it was later reformed and somebody dropped the "apostrophe s" and it became The Lion Guard.
