People were also excited about the Green Lantern movie. Not saying it will be bad, just keep your hype in check.
>>
>>80859518
Obviously WB paid for that opinion with the complimentary popcorn and soda.

Jesus that movie was so boring. I still don't get how they can fuck up the green lantern like they did.

What was wrong with green lantern? Yeah the CGI was off, but it was better than the Thor movies.

I actually enjoyed how comic book-like it was.

Temper your expectations, OP.

You should never trust reactions to early screenings

unless they're for MCU movies of course

or from the directors themselves

>I actually enjoyed how comic book-like it was.

Which was why it was a terrible movie.
>>
>>80859579
To many cooks fuck the stew. Every writter fucked it even more. By the time Johns forced Parallax in and legion out it was already ruined, when the fucking GL writter helps to ruin the script something really terrible is happening.

Will this movie outgross avengers?
>>
>>80860134
If it's really good, probably.
>>
>>80860134

Count the tickets sold, there's millions, what's next? Billions?

This movie has the power to wipe out the whole of our marvel slate.

Even if there's a 1% chance that it will outgross civil war and avengers we need to take it as an absolute certainty.

This movie is NOT our enemy!

Probably no, but it will outgross "Iron Man 3" and probably "Frozen".

Can someone make screencaps of naysayers and ">being hyped for a Snyder film" people, so they can be btfo'd when it gets 96% rt

Uh, maybe not the best judge of quality.

You know how much popcorn and soda cost in cinemas? It's like a 120$ voucher.

You started a war!
whoops wrong movie

>WB doesn't invite a lot of mainstream press to the event

Green Lantern was not only seen by 14.7 million people domestically, it was bought on DVD and BluRay 2,417,112 times in the first 5 weeks of release (when the majority of sales are made) for a total spend of $41,919,081 or an average $17.31 per consumer. For reference, the average ticket price when the film released was $7.93, less than half the average cost of the home media release in that initial release period (you can probably find it in the remainder bins now).

That means that of those who saw it in theaters, something like 16% or 1 in 6 felt it was something worth owning forever, not including digital downloads. The average sales of a Green Lantern comic are well below 100,000/month, indicating a fanbase far lower than that; but even a rabid fanbase of 100,000 couldn't account for sales of 2.4 million home media copies; it would require each of them to buy 24 copies at a cost of $415 per fan.

The sad fact is, you can't rely on the opinions of others, nor on the opinions of the herd around you.

Only because the cinemas don't make any money from showing the movies; even taking 50% of the ticket price their overheads are huge and there's no easy way to get them down - you're talking about big buildings with enormous costs that are basically standing empty 90% of the time. If everybody bought popcorn the cost of it would come down (eventually).

However the other anon is correct to say that WB paid for that popcorn and soda. They probably hired the entire cinema for the night, meaning they paid for the tickets as well; that night made a loss for them which must be offset against the gross.
