I'm curious: why do people here lump in 00-05 cartoons with those from 06-09? Those were of completely different styles and feeling.
When people bring up the 00s, they seem to think it was nothing but Johnny Test, Skunk fu, post-movie SpongeBob, tweencoms, Flash/cgi, and Cn real on endless repeat. They're forgetting about shows from earlier in the decade like Samurai jack, Megas for, Billy and Mandy (old episodes).
2000-2005 WAS A TIME PERIOD THAT EXISTED, PEOPLE.
who's the black guy near the top? i know he's DC i can never remember him though

Static Shock. A guy who started off nice but then the Justice League/Batman Beyond crossovers happened and it became apparent there are way better heros than Static

It's not different from any earlier decade (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, etc) where the first half and second half were two quite distinct entities.

Every decade has certain common things that hold it up from start to finish, other things can be quite dramatically different. For example, the 70s began with the aftermath of the 60s. Hippies everywhere, Rolling Stones and The Who were God, astronauts landing on the Moon, protests, Vietnam still going.
During the Carter years...completely different. The protest era was a distant memory, the Stones et al were irrelevant and washed up, New Wave was taking over, computers and video games had arrived (they didn't exist in 1971). In general, the social climate was darker and more cynical than the Nixon years. The Apollo program was over and no Americans were going into space as everyone awaited the Shuttle's debut.

80s...that decade began with a very grim, malaise-y situation (Iranian Hostage Crisis, recession, etc). Everything was still painted in shades of brown and yellow. By 1982, the ghost of the 70s had largely been expunged, music had taken on the familiar 80s formats, and the sleazy sexual revolution stuff had given way to a sharp conservative backlash.
During the early 80s, the remnants of the 70s were very much there. Rock bands who started in the previous decade, computers and video games still much closer to the Pong era than anything we'd know now. The Cold War was back with a vengeance.
Late 80s, the Cold War was winding down, Judas Priest and Van Halen had faded and given way to thrash metal, Nintendo ruled video games, computers were now sporting GUI operating systems, mice, and 3.5" floppy disks. Tensions between the US and Soviet Union were easing and the end for communism had just about arrived.

some of these shows didn't air on YTV though.
Because they were the same decade. Nobody cares about zeitgeists and fashion trends, it's all about numerical alignment. A place for everything and everything in its place.
