Amber Heard is ready to go under the sea and join the DC cinematic universe!
ET confirmed on Thursday that the 29-year-old actress has been cast as Mera, the undersea queen and wife of Aquaman in the DC Comics canon. Heard will make her first appearance as Mera in 2017's The Justice League Part One before appearing in the 2018 standalone Aquaman film opposite Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa.
The actress exclusively dished to ET's Katie Krause about her sea queen costume.
"It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales," Heard revealed. "It's strange... We're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is set to helm the two-part Justice League films, while Furious 7's James Wan will be directing the Aquaman standalone feature.

What direction do you guys want the film to go in? Despite the fact that throughout most of the modern age, they've kind of tried to move Aquaman in the direction of being a bit more remote from surface people and being primarily concerned with Atlantis, I actually like the post-Flashpoint Geoff Johns interpretation that he's a reluctant king and feels just as alienated amongst Atlanteans as he feels on the surface world.
Other than that, I really like how the Neal Ponzer miniseries dealt with the relationship between Arthur and Orm, with Ocean Master pretty much resenting Orm for being the "special" son, and Orm's turn to criminality being something like a cry for attention and an attempt to usurp his brother's domain. I like that better than the post-Flashpoint Ocean Master.
I also like how the Peter David origin played up Aquaman as a nomadic recluse, and also the idea that Aquaman's costume is actually Atlantean prison garb from the Giffen/Swan mini, as well.
Also, the mystical elements of the Ponzer mini and the "Waterbearer" era are cool.

I'm fine with Miller not dying his hair for the part. Flash's cowl covers his hair, so it's not that much of an issue.
It's slightly harder for me to accept though with Momoa. I'm open to it though just because we're getting a hybrid Conan/90s Aquaman. It would be different if they had cast someone like Collin Farrell for the role and just put him in a suit and didn't dye his hair.
