I don't mind swearing, but when every other word is swearing for comedic purposes, it isn't funny. I was swearing when I was a child, somebody saying a nono is not funny.

Reminder this shit has 5-6 minute orgy of food fucking.
>>
the buns look like tampons or vaginas
>>
>>80840422
Reminder that Lavash is the old Arab wrap and Sammy is the neurotic Jewish bagel, and this scene starts out with them making out.
>>
This movie seems like such wasted potential. They padded out a pretty decent and funny concept with tons and tons of poop jokes and sex puns and gross-out humor. All of the plot stuff seemed pretty okay. I'm kind of disappointed after reading the script.

Character animation looks good, though.
>>
>>80841100
I can't believe they dedicated half of the main cast to a single drawn-out joke about the muslim/jew war. It's insane, it's like if the Ghostbusters were made up of Venkman, Spengler, Pastor Joe Billy-bob and Uncle Negro Tyrone, and while Venkmen and Spengler were off busting ghosts and actually doing shit related to the story, it'd periodically cut away to Joe and Tyrone shouting insults at each other until the 'character development' at the end where they fucked each other in the ass.
>>
>>80839247
>>80840422
Meh, I don't really like gross out humor, and if they're willing to put a 5 minute food orgy on the big screen, this movie might not be for me.

For instance, I hated The Brother Grimsby. The gross humor was too much, and I was cringing instead of enjoying the movie. On the other hand, I love South Park, even if the humor can be juvenile. I guess it depends if there is a balance to the humor and if they movie has any weight in the first place.
>>
>>80842736
They also have the main villain (who's a literal douche) fingerfuck a rat's asshole while calling the rat a dirty little slut, and then stuff his ratshit coated finger into the mouth of the muslim character.
>>
>>80839247
Why is that sausage as glossy and reflective as the plastic container holding him? The buns and bread are both lit softly and look organic, so clearly they had more then the one shader, but they just decided to make the sausage look like plastic.
>>
Just back from reading the script

LavashxSammy fucking OTP
>>
>>80842886
Uhhhgg, why? Some people consider it funny, I guess, but I (and I would think most people?) don't.

Having something shock you instead of making you laugh is just incredibly lazy writing. I'm not asking Seth Rogan to be on par with Hemingway or some shit, but could they just be a little more intelligent and a little less childish?
>>
>Edward Norton
>>
>>80839392
I read the script and decided to count out the amount of swears they put in this movie on my first run since it seems to be an interesting topic.

I counted 246 swears through the script, not including the sexual references (ie "jerking off into our faces" or "pound those buns") nor the name or references to "douche". I also did not include the terms "putos" for it can mean "male prostitute" or "mashugana" since it can be used as "crazy" or "jackass". At least 6 of these were in descriptions for scenes, which brings the total to 240

According to wikipedia, the movie's runtime is 83 minutes, which I think should be around 79 minutes without credits.
So 240 swears divided by 79 minutes is about 3 swears per minute.
>>
>>80839247
I'm not gonna lie, this movie has an interesting concept, but the execution was doomed from the start
>>
>>80843294
This logic pisses me off. I get what you're saying but maybe there's some minutes with more curses than others, it doesn't have to be laid out like that.

>>

The movie hits two spikes when Honey Mustard comes back, and when Frank finds out the truth from Firewater, and most of the cursing is at the beginnning and spread out across the middle with the human massacre at the end surprisingly containing almost none at all

Do people realize the extent to which this worked? My grandparents literally don't watch anything except Fox News. The problem is those jokes are based on really, really fucked up stuff that most people are going to be too offended at it being made fun of to laugh at.

Right, but that's not generally what most people would call sexy. Even the weirdos, like the tier of Zootopiafags, wouldn't touch it.

Shipping and waifu inspiration are sadly two ways to get an easy adult audience. This lacks both. The humans are appalling to look at, and unfortunately it doesn't look like that's part of the joke.

Dude, I'd love some actual fucking adult animation, but Sausage Party being a success would not be a "vindication" for animation geared towards adults - it'd be a victory for everyone who associates the phrase "adult animation" with humor geared towards 12-year-olds mixed in with cussing.

Give me an animated movie on the level of Grave of the Fireflies or Princess Mononoke and we can have a serious discussion.

This is what cemented that its shit to me.

Even as a Native American im not offended that they made a bottle of alcohol a native american stereotype, theres going to be plenty of white people offended at that already.

Im offended that this is the kind of bottom of the barrel comedy they're bringing, they sunk so low that they had to pull out the "hiya-how-are-ya" joke, probably the cheapest and most over used joke they could find.

This whole movie is hardly first draft quality and they expect us to pay money for it.

Interesting. Read the Wikipedia page for this film. I may have to track this movie down.

But I've become fascinated by the ability for comedians to have a crowd eating out of their hand with just a little bit of pandering and some clever turns of phrase.

People mindlessly parrot George Carlin bits, make memes out of Louis C.K. quotes, pay good money to have Russel Brand of all people explain how to fix the economy.

An evil comedian manipulating his fans for his own gain could be an interesting villain.

I don't think you understand how this works. When business execs see a shitty, sex/swear/shock humor cartoon succeed they're not going to start greenlighting good adult animation.

They're going to greenlight the exact same shit as Sausage Party and continue ignoring things like Anomalia or Persepolis. It was already shifting anyways, thanks to anime and the older audiences for shows that are marketed towards kids but still enjoyable for adults. All we really needed was a breakout hit and we could have had great things. Instead Sausage Party is going to define all "adult" animation for the next decade at least.

I don't think anyone else has posted the synopsis, so here I go
>The beginning of the movie is about food and how they keep singing about the Great Beyond, which is what happens when the Gods (humans) buy them and take them home
>the first characters we're introduced to are Frank, Barry, Carl, and Troy, who are hotdogs, and Brenda, who's a hotdog bun and are having this long drawn-out innuendo conversation about sex
>Troy picks on Barry (voiced by Michael Cera) about the tip of his head being deformed
>another pack of nearby hotdogs are thrown away by the "darklord" (a store employee) because they're expired
>Carl reasons it's the will of the Gods and it shouldn't be questioned
>Brenda and Frank are extremely excited to go to the Great Beyond where they'll be together, so they touch (finger)tips through the packaging
>Honey Mustard is returned after a customer mistakes him for Mustard and he starts having a PTSD episode because he knows the truth
>Frank, Carl, Barry, Troy, and Brenda are put in the same cart together along with Honey Mustard and a Douche by a customer named Camille Toh
>Honey Mustard overhears Frank and Brenda talking about the Great Beyond, and tells them it's all a big lie
>HM decides to jump out of the cart then to be taken to the Great Beyond again
>Frank attempts to stop him by catching him, but also pulls along Brenda, a bagel, a lavash, and Douche in a line trying to grab onto something
>accident on aisle 2 leading to the horrific Private Ryan scene in the trailer
>Darren starts cleaning up again after Camille Toh explains that she made a mess and that the douche isn't hers
>Darren sweeps away the Douche while Frank, Brenda, Sammy, and Lavash are all left behind and Camille leaves with the rest of her groceries
>Brenda comes to the conclusion that touching tips has soiled them. Lavash and Sammy also blame Frank for getting them into this mess
>[middle eastern stereotypes intensify]
1/?
>>
>>80872681
Oh and HM mentions some guy named Firewater who will know the truth

Yeah, the show started out awful and it's still inconsistent, but it actually has some episodes that are pretty great. The 'serious' episode, the high school episode and the justice league two-part are actually pretty entertaining.

This movie looks like it has nothing going for it. The gag with the ketchup bottle cutting itsel sounds okay, but nothing else from this is even remotely funny.

This might actually be a worse Rogen movie than Your Highness, which I didn't think could happen.

>The Potato is the first to enter eternity before he starts getting sliced up
>food massacre scene from the trailer
>Barry and Carl attempt to escape, but Carl is sliced in half in the process while Barry gets away
>Back in the supermarket, Frank and the other climb to the top of a shelf and start making their way back to their original shelf, but Frank decides to take a detour to find Firewater
>Lavash secretly examines himself and it turns out he has mold on the inside of his flaps
>Douche wakes up in a dumpster and feels "robbed of his purpose by that damn sausage"
>he encounters some rats, from which he learns that they really love to eat food (cheese); Douche gains control of a horde of rats and plots his revenge
>Barry escapes to a nearby park, finds a piece of shit with zombie corn pieces in it and a used condom who acts like a rape victim and then runs into a druggie who happens to be carrying a bag with his supermarket's name on it. He decides to hitch a ride in hopes of getting back and making it up to Frank by telling him the truth
>Back to the supermarket; Frank gets to the liquor aisle where he and Brenda get seperated in a bar scene
>She asks a mexican liquor bottle for help who then promises to help her "real good"
>Sammy and Lavash stick with Brenda and all 3 are taken to a small Mexican town where a sadistic, pun-loving tyrant named El Guaco is public terrorizing some female taco shells.
>Frank finds Firewater along with several other nonperishables who have been around for a long time and have Frank take a hit before they tell him the turth which is that the nonperishables have been around since the 50's and made up the story and song of the Great Beyond so as to mask the horrific truth of their eventual fate

>After learning the truth Firewater tells Frank that no one will believe him, but that if he truly wants evidence, he should go to the dark isle beyond the ice. Frank leaves, but not before being told that a chosen one will lead the revolt against the god
>Barry is taken home to the druggie's house where the druggie gets high on heroin and can see Barry in his cartoonish form. He then tells the druggie to take him back to the supermarket
>Frank goes to where the mexican aisle is, but Brenda is upset for Frank leaving her to be
>"I don't need no sausage to fulfill me"
>Brenda and Frank go their separate ways, and Frank imagines Brenda with different kinds of products suggestively surrouding her near a fireplace as he heads torwards the dark aisle; Brenda also starts to miss Frank.
>Douche tracks the gang to the mexican aisle where a dying El Guaco tells him where they went
>Brenda, Sammy, Lavash, and Teresa are ambushed and caught by Douche
>Frank avoids a falling knife pillar, and finds a cook book which details how humans eat food
>The druggie passes out and Barry tries to wake up him since has no other way of getting home
>The druggie wakes up, tries to eat Barry, but due to a freak accident, kills himself
>with the help of a new character named Gum (who is a piece of gum with a stephen hawking voice and other shit stuck to him), they hijack his car and head back to the supermarket
>cue rat asshole fingering scene
>Frank rescues them
>they get away on a balloon basket
