Is this "The big bang theory: the comic book?" or is it actually good? friend gave it to me, said I'd like it.
No, it demonstrates nerds as they actually are: insufferable ugly self-centered autists with no redeeming traits whatsoever.
It's great.
>>80831391
stop advertising shit
>>80831423
Huh, that reminds me of me.
>>80831426
The Shitty tv show, or this comic?
>>80831391
It's good.
Everyone is a horrible asshole, but you get a kick out of seeing how far they go.
>>80831426
gazing at the abyss much?
>>80831426
Did the comic hurt your feelings, geek?
>>80831391
It's like Daniel Clowes' comic Pussey but on crack.
OP again, read first few pages... That was totally my teen years... but times 4 billion... Busting a gut here.
And cringing like FUCK.
I just read this the other day and I loved it. Did you get the new hardcover collected edition?
>>80832610
Nah friend gave me an electronic copy
>>80832692
does it have everything, including Northwest Comix Collective?
>>80831391
If you enjoy it, there's a pilot for an animated series called Welcome to Eltingville. Made by adult swim in the early 2000's, it never got picked up for a series. But it's not hard to find, they even play it every so often on the air.
>>80833029
anyone think that maybe if they went for a different plot for the pilot it might have gotten picked up ? like either the twilight zone marathon one or them burning down a toys r us ?
>>80834298
Dorkin said that very thing. Made a lot of mistakes because he'd never done anything like it before.
>>80832742
I heard it does, though I heard it on /co/.
it gave us some good reaction images
>>80831391
Is the original anime club
>>80831391
>Is this "The big bang theory: the comic book?"
so, a comic written by someone who knows nothing about comics?
no, that only happens at the Big 2
>>80831423
Hello nerd
>>80831423
So, just like big bang theory.
>>80835431
Only much more realistic
>>80835431
No because Big Bang Theory does "attractive" nerds. Eltingville doesn'tunless you count Jerry in the final issue
>>80838065
Jerry was pretty much the only likable character
I love Evan Dorkin.
>>80831391
The original short stories that ran in various anthologies are HILARIOUS.
The two issue miniseries that was used as a "series finale" trades in the dark humor for pure bitterness and isn't funny at all save for a joke or two.
>>80838096
Yep
Evan Dorkin is a bitter SJW who peaked in the mid 90's.
It's great
I go the hard cover one that came out recently
so did Anime Club rip this off?
>>80831391
Is this online or something?
>>80844378
Nah, multiple people have the similar experiences
>>80831423
Shut the fuck up you tryhard normalfag.
Eltingville is just funny, stop looking too deep into it.
Does anybody have the Dork Comics series?
Anybody wanna storytime :333
>>80831391
No I think it's one of the best things Dorkin has done.
>>80843829
Waid is a SJW. PAD is a SJW. Aaron is a SJW. Dorkin is just some self loathing new york jew nerd, a professional whiner if you will considering that most of his comics are whining about nerd crap
>>80844663
google the eltingvile club comic online
easy to find
>>80844690
>stop looking too deep into it
There's stupdi and then there's this guy
>>80831473
>Everyone is a horrible asshole
Which pretty much defines every Evan Dorkin character, like, ever.
It's great
>>80846617
People seemed nice enough in his Metal Men shorts.
>>80831423
Who died and made you entitled to judge people?
>>80839060
>The two issue miniseries that was used as a "series finale" trades in the dark humor for pure bitterness
Go on
OP again, went to bed, woke up, read to page 75, and had a great time with it, thanks guys.
>>80831391
Why don't you read it and find out?
>>80846812
The kids in Eltingville are genuinely horrible guys, and Dorkin didn't just dream them up, they're based on amalgamations of awful nerd-rage behaviors he witnessed in a life spent in fandom besides his own misbehavior. Calling them awful isn't a judgement call, their own book portrays them as monsters.
>>80844378
No, they ripped off FOG Club.
>>80844687
KC said outright Eltingville was an influence on his Anime Club strips.
>>80846988
The last two are a lot less subtle and silly than the previous ones. He really goes all out to portray Bill, the de facto main character of the Eltingville strips, as insanely bitter. Nothing they do is out of character but their dialogue is way less fanciful than it was before, and of course criticism of fandom in 2015/6 touches a different nerve than it did in the 90s when they were created.
There are also a lot of real overblown indictments of contemporary "nerd culture," and any time it gets brought up here a handful of posters call it SJW trash and I can never tell if they're trolls role playing as Eltingville Club style guys, or they just genuinely fail to grasp what it's satirizing.
