If they kill him, he'd better show up in Valhalla in Thor 3, with that cloak and glowing star.
It would also be a bit weird if IW is the quest to bring him back to life, since he isn't that strong a fighter, and the rest of the team probably wouldn't be able to recognize how essential he may be.
Although that could be the overall arc for Tony throughout the Russo quadrology.
