The only Superman story I've read is Death of Supermanand I really liked it
I have read Year One, Long Halloween, Daek Victory, No Man's Land, and New 52 Court of Owls and Death of the Family and the only one out of these comics that I enjoyed was No Man's Land. Was very dissapointed in Year One after it was hyped up so much, the only enjoyable moment is when Batman went after the cop who shot at the cat.

The only reason I care about comics is because my dad and I bonded over Batman: TAS and the superhero movies when I was growing up.

1.) Endgame's concept of the Joker as a timeless Candyman style phantom was everything I have ever wanted the character to be.
2.) I think Fear Itself is a perfectly good Thor + Cap centric story with great art. People peg it as the worst event but Jesus Christ AVX, AOU are VASTLY worse.

The only Superman story I've read was Red Son. I really liked it even though I didn't know what was going on a lot of the time.
Incidentally, any recommendations for me? I tried reading All Star Superman but I didn't get very far, seems like that one requires you to know the character better.

Mark Millar wrote Red Son, so I recommend Mark Millar's run on Superman Adventures and also Mark Millar's Superior.
Don't feel bad about not liking All-Star Superman. It's just an okay comic that some people put on a pedestal because of memes.

I still haven't read a ton of Batman books considered to be the GOAT. Only things I've read have been The Killing Joke, Year One, Morrison's Batman run, and some other odd issues or books here and there, like some of Gotham Central.
Still haven't read Byrne's run on Superman, including Death and Return of Superman. There's a lot of Superman-related stuff I haven't checked out yet as well.
Still have yet to finish Sandman or Fables even though I'm a huge fan of both (so far anyway).
In fact, there's still a ton of Vertigo series I have to check out.
I stopped reading Geoff Johns GL run right as Blackest Night was starting. I should get back into that.
I haven't seriously been keeping up with any monthly series since the nu52.
Most of the comics I've read have been capeshit and I think I'm going to seriously make an effort to branch out and read more indie or underground stuff.

Start with Azzerello's run, then go back and read Perez, and Rucka's stuff. Azz's run is Wonder Woman for people who don't like Wonder Woman. It's a great gateway to get you into the character and then the earlier stuff will guide you into a better understanding of her.

Just read all of volume 2. It starts slow but picks up as it goes on and is all around a good read. William Messner-Loebs is pretty underrated, Baron's stuff is okay, Waid, Johns, and Morrison's runs are must reads.

I liked Man of Steel. It exceeded my expectation.It probably helps that my expectations were really low and walked in expecting GL levels of shit. It was really a lot better than what I expected it to be like.
