>Latest word on advance tickets sales for Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice per various sources is that they’re outstripping 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool (opening weekend $132.4M), The Avengers ($207.4M) and Universal’s Furious 7 ($147.1M) two weeks prior to their stateside releases.

...

>Movio, which monitors movieticket buyer trends, analyzed the profile of moviegoers who bought advanced tickets for BvS as of March 10 and compared this audience to the advanced ticket buyers for Jurassic World.

Snyder would have had to have produced the marketing blunder of the century for it to not have solid presales.
>>
I'm fine with DC starting their shared universe, but I am just so fucking sick of Batman.

Just look at >>80765300

The only one slight closer to a contender is The Jungle Book because of the Disney hype machine.
>>
>>80765442
I gotta admit the trailer made Jungle Book look kind of awesome.

Capeshit is a power fantasy so it's not surprising that you're supposed to identify with the vast majority of them in some way.
>>
>>80765190
Yeah id really like Nightwing introduced so they could get a Nightwing spinoff. Not only would that be more interesting to see than Batman at this point but shit...I think general audiences would be all about it.

>>
>>80764990

So according to that it's playing almost exclusively to male audiences and will probably drop hugely after the opening week. Just like Man of Steel.

In other words, not going to break a billion. The comparison to TDK is bogus; TDK had a wider demo than this sausagefest.
>>
>>80769292
Man of Steel dropped because it was mediocre, not because of the audience.
>>
>>80769282
Not really. Nightwing offers an entirely unique personality, method for handling situations, point of view in the crime fighting world, location, and fighting style. Most importantly with batman as fixed in the public conciousness as he is Nightwing offers the possibility of stories told from a man who exists in that shadow. Trying to branch out from and yet live up to the one who trained him.

In a shared universe like theyre building hed be a perfect character to build a franchise off of.
>>
>>80769282
not THAT poster, but no, he really doesn't.
>>
>>80764990
The opening weekend will be huge, but with the bad reviews and the audiendece divided the second weekend drop will be like worse than Man of Steel

It's surprising that MoS made as much as it had, really. Superman came back from a terrible Superman Returns and the movie itself was not very good at all to begin with.
>>
>>80770440

I don't think I'll ever be able to take this Superman seriously when every time I see him all I can think of is Dennis fucking Reynolds.

I have expect Danny Devito to come in off screen as the Penguin with Charley as the Riddler and talk about how they are all getting together to take down MacMan.

Also, movie ticket sale data isn't comics so fuck off.

>Film I'm hype for is successful
Lol you fags are btfo!!

The rampant double standards in these threads are embarrassing.
>>
>>80773438
Well, that's just your opinion, which, against "proven evidence", doesn't amount to much. People went back for seconds, thirds and fourths. Same with Jurassic World, Titanic, Avatar and Star Wars.

Man of Steel crashed after takeoff because people didn't feel compelled to go back for more. If BvS encourages them to do so, it'll be more succesful.
>>
>>80773479
Welcome to /co/. First day?

>>80773578
It's workman cinematography, but it's fine, and I'd argue there are some great shots.
>>
>>80773601
Are you implying BvS will feature those things? PROTIP: It won't.

Blockbusters are succesful because they're very basic, easy to follow, easy to immerse yourself and go along with the ride without deep thinking.
>>
Fellow Marvelbros, what's going to be our defense when this movie makes $1.7 billion and has an rt of 95%?

What excuses do we use?

>Well Chris terrio did come to save it

>No one doubted bvs

>Well of course it made more than avengers, it's batman and superman
>>
>>80773642
>I-I never doubted DC, they did make the dark knight

>Pfft, I always knew this movie would be a sudden
>>
I contributed to the dark knight rises opening weekend

I'm contributing twice as much with batman v superman. Let's meme the dceu pay off
>>
>>80773624
Well a good blockbuster has more going on beneath the inevitibly simple story. Of course, nowadays these films need to appeal to almost every demographic for maximum profits, so we wont get something like Space Odyssey being a big event movie anymore, but there's a lot that can be done within the restrictions of a blockbuster.

The thing is, it takes a lot of skill and being able to work well within the system, so most blockbusters are just workmanlike films with no depth.

just like Captain America the Winter Soldier going against dramas and romantic comedies
>>
>>80764990
I think what's happening with this movie is inevitability

Like, no one I know is excited by this movie. We all think it looks "meh" at best....but we're all going to see it. Maybe just to see it. None of us spent any time talking about it but we all bought tickets recently. Batman and Superman are just big names, even if the movie sucks it'll be a big conversation piece.

I think this might have been why the movie was tracking so poorly until recently. I'd guess the majority of people really didn't care enough to discuss it but now that it's almost out we're all like "yeah I guess I'm gonna see that"

Literally too big to fail
>>

Same as with all blockbusters I assume, initial embargo, then they let out reviews for people they invited to early screenings (these are almost always positive because the critics want to be invited again), then once it actually released you get the real reviews.

>>80774928
Superman is like "What did you eat Lex? Is that Kimchi? Ah hell he's not stopping. It's like a cloud around him."
>>
>>80774928
I'm hyped for the fight scenes and Batman (and possibly there's a chance Superman's finally fixed), but other than that i don't expect too much from the story, just for it to be serviceable

I actually think we're looking at another AoU here, replace the the out of place infinity gems and Thor's visions with stuff like Aquaman and the Knightmare visions and you get the same shit, an overall good story and characters that gets occasionally overshadowed by the set up for the next movies

Seriously, how long is the Knightmare gonna be? There's Flash, Batman fighting shit and getting captured, maybe Black Adam... unless it's a 2 minutes fighting montage similar to stuff like DC Universe Online's opening video then shit's gonna get busy
>>
>>80775137
Black Adam is not in it.

But yeah, DC fans that complain about Marvel's stingers really lose their ground when the Knightmare seems like the movie taking a five minute break to tell you Justice League will be a thing.
>>
>>80775137
It's two and a half hours long. I think Knightmare is going to be long enough that the switch back to the rest of the movie is going to be jarring for the audience.

MOS which I also liked is a movie which I wouldn't put on for my 10 yo cous cause he will just run off and do something else. It isn't a film you can talk through and laugh at.
