If Zootopia were a show, would you rather it be Computer Generated or 2d Animated,

3D: End up looking like kung fu panda legend of awesomeness

2D: Would look good but very restricted in doing sequences and facial expressions
>>
If it was made with CG it would just look like a distractingly shitty downgrade from the movie, like Back at the Barnyard, Legends of Awesomeness, Penguins of Madagascar, etc.

So 2D.

Probably 2D.
Question: were there any birds in Zootopia? I can't recall any.

I'd want it like those 2d sequences from Kung Fu Panda 2. Simple little short stories with their own unique charm.
Agreed with the others about the 3d.

I guess I have to spell this out for you.

The otter is one of the missing mammals. No one knows why he disappeared. Turns out he was last seen in a nude yoga place, which is surprising since he looks such a meek otter with his knitted vest and glasses. Then we find out he was in a limo, owned by a mob boss, which makes you wonder why a meek otter is connected with a mob boss. Turns out he was a mob boss florist, even treated like family, and he wanted to tell something important before he disappeared. Was he attack? No, turns out HE attacked, and even almost blinded the big ass feline driver, before disappearing into the night.

The whole thing is supposed to make the viewers think of the whole mystery/case. A joke about him going to a nude yoga club seems kind of blatant and would ruin the pacing. It's a joke the viewer should formulate in their heads, not have the other characters point it out and laugh while the mystery was going on.

Keywords there are "in the end". While the whole case was going, it was mysterious and Mr. Big's and Manchas' accounts on what happened make you suspicious of the otter. At that point, we still didn't know if he was truly a victim or a perpetrator.

There might be a jab about him in a short or tv series or sequel for going to the nude yoga club.

Alright, writefags. Here's an idea for you:

>Judy's having a hard time lately in the ZPD
>there's something going on in Zootopia's model and z-idol scene
>maybe several murders
>Judy is forced to go undercover, since she's the only female cop that can do it
>has to disguise herself a bit to look like just an ordinary bunny
>she has to infiltrate of Zootopia's biggest producer of z-idols as an assistant
>by accident she ends up on TV, the producer notices Judy and wants her to work for him
>Bogo demands her to accept the offer to get more evidence
>Clawhauser goes undercover too as her bodyguard
>within days Judy gains a lot of fans
>she realizes that her fans don't just like her for being a cute bunny, but that they think she's pretty
>Judy enjoys the attention and thinks about leaving the ZPD for modeling and acting
>Nick has to get her out of it before she goes deeper down the idol hell
>and of course solve the case
>>
>>80742961
2d would be better

>>
>>80746297
You didn't account for the other 13 animals though. Like, you wouldn't really suspect him of anything, even if he attacked, since they mentioned "all predators" early on. If anything, it'll clue you about preds going wild.

Judy dealing with being a media darling is interesting, but I think its out of character for her to even CONSIDER going into 'Idol Hell', especially since we've covered Judy turning down becoming a PR symbol for the police force.

Now Nick? Being beloved, looked up to, idolized? That might go straight to his head.

>Moana is their planned big release. It even comes out around the holidays.

This raises an interesting point come Oscar time.

It seems clear to me that either Zootopia or Moana is going to win because voters will blindly cast their ballot for Disney (also Pixar sequels, sans Toy Story 3, has not been as successful at the Oscars - so I'm thinking one of the two Disney-Disney films will nab the Oscar unless Finding Dory gets raves).

Not that Oscars mean anything, especially when it comes to animation, but which one is going to get the preference of the blind voters?

Zootopia will probably end up being the better quality film, but Moana is released right in the prime of Oscar season and is a musical.

Speaking of Frozen, I just realized that, while you can't really do a straight-up "first __ days" comparison with that vs. Zootopia due to Frozen's limited release followed by Wednesday wide launch, Zootopia just pulled ahead of Frozen sometime on Saturday even if you give Frozen a week-long head start to compensate.

Or, to slightly simplify that, Zootopia has earned more in its first 10 days than Frozen did in its first 17.

This is why, as much as I'd like it, I do not think Zootopia will surpass Frozen. Frozen hit every single little girl and directly aimed at that demographic and it worked, while Zootopia aimed at a much broader message and that also worked but because it's broader (and they don't have a Let It Go tier song that can be misinterpreted for women empowerment) it won't reach hardcore memetic status
>>

He seems like a pretty nice fellow.

>As our interview nears its end, Howard muses on an animation career that began as a tour guide at the long gone Orlando animation studio inside what was once Disney-MGM Studios. “I applied four times, but they kept saying no. I thought in the meantime if I can’t get down there where I want to be at that drawing desk, I can at least be close to what I love so much. I was this poor kid, face pressed against the window.” [Literally; the animation studio was behind glass so tourists could walk through the facility and look over the artists’ shoulders as they worked.] Howard finally made it in as an inbetweener on Pocahontas, and worked his way up to director.

I'd probably stick with 2d, myself. The 3d in zootopia was good enough that I feel spoiled by it now and if they were to downgrade it owuld just feel painful.

With 2d animation, shifting styles a bit feels even natural and can allow for action sequences to use various techniques to keep things simple but effective.

I'm not feeling it too much. Idol Judy is cute to imagine, but all in all, I can't imagine what would be burning her in the ZPD that's NOT something big, important, and would basically drag everyone into things (like a massive corruptiong scandal and coverup) and I can't see Nick trying to dissuade her.
>>
>>80747072
Not gonna happen with the acting - I don't think it's even allowed to nominate someone for voice acting.

I'm tired of Disney worship and circle-jerking, but honestly I enjoyed this movie enough where I'd love to see it get some big nominations.

I could see it possibly snag a screenplay nomination if it maintains momentum, and maybe Best Song and Score in addition to Best Animation. Could get Best Picture, but it'll be hard seeing as it is only March.

Moana will get a song nomination and a BAF nom, much like Frozen but I see it being met with much more lukewarm reviews (I'm thinking around 85-89% on RT). Though it does star a non-white character in a musical just before Oscar time... but Zootopia actually tackles the themes of racism/prejudice/etc.

Also you just know there will be that one "Let it Go" like song that is played over and over again before the Oscars, resulting in Moana getting all of the attention.

I still think Finding Dory will fall in the 70% range on RT and possibly miss out on a nomination like Monsters U.

Not every Disney movie has that kind of song.

The last Disney main song I can think of that had a title song that memetic and widespread was Tarzan's Son of Man, and that was like 15 years ago. Also I'm being generous, I'd probably realistically say the last one was Circle of Life

This.

Isn't a "furry" someone who is sexually attracted to an animal? And want to dress up as an animal? And even feel compelled to do animal noises unironically?

So, if a sequel were to happen where Nick and Judy are explicitly romantically involved and the themes of the film would center around controversies regarding interspecies, prey/predator, or bunny/fox relationships in Zootopia, which would you prefer:

>the issue is raised by having Nick and Judy become a couple over the course of the movie

Or

>the issue is raised by having them already be married by the start of the movie and the conflict comes when they want to adopt a child
>>
Ok, so the most obvious idea for a sequel suggested has been that they introduce lizards and birds. I could see that - to reduce international tensions, they set up a bird/reptile district in Zootopia so it becomes more multicultural and Nick and Judy, being the most well-known faces of predator/prey integration and cooperation, have to make sure nothing upsets the initial integration.

But what about a second, equally obvious sequel idea: Mr. Big wants to make some big moves (so to speak) and Judy has to decide where her loyalties ultimately lie?

Or a combination of both? While the reptiles and birds are introduced into their own district and the hustle and bustle of the big city, Judy discovers that Mr. Big is involved in some dastardly plot to bust up the integration plot and needs to choose her loyalties.
Just as the first movie's predator/prey plot is actually a backdrop to the whole "you can be what you want" story, the second one's integration plot could serve as a backdrop for "now that you are what you want to be, can you stay loyal to what you are?"
>>
>>80747312
I don't know. Furries that are actually attracted to animals make up a minuscule portion of that group. There are plenty of people who just like the art or whatever and tend to shy away from the people who dress up and make animal noises.
>>
>>80747377
It's being made by the same people who did The Princess and the Frog, or so I've heard.

Me, I've always felt that if there was going to be an "interspecies issue" it wouldn't be whether it's allowed or not it's okay (the creators have even said interspecies relationships and marriage are a thing. Good god, imagine how bad the riots were after Judy's press conference with Predator/Prey couples) but probably the issue is just that stereotyping keeps cropping up. Like Judy is constantly being told to check on Nick because "You can't trust a fox to be as faithful lover" or Nick being warned..

I'm not sure what kind of stereotypes would apply to bunnies and relationships that would be a legit pisser. Maybe saying they're "child-like"?

Let's be honest here, most of you guys are furries or at the very least furries in denial. Tell me anon. What animal would you be in zootopia?
>>
>>80747948
If we're being honest, a lot of it is self applied. The difference between a guy who likes Zootopia and a furry who likes it is the second person is calling himself a furry. Unless you count fursuit and conventions there isn't a line you cross.

The problem is that some extremely deviant and antisocial people call themselves furries, so nobody wants to be one. Or like anything associated with the term. But liking Zootopia doesn't make you furry any more than liking the John Cena prank call makes you a hardcore wrestling fan.

Fish and insect meat is dense as hell in protein, more nutritious, and a lot cheaper to produce on a massive scale than bird and reptile meat. They'll be fine. Besides, reptile and bird characters can be cute as fuck.

>>80747420
Sounds good to me. I like the idea of Nick and Judy being assigned to security duty for a few reptiles and/or bird immigrants that are trying to integrate into mammalian society. Think how the National Guard assigned individual soldiers as a precaution to minority students back in the 1960's when they attempted to integrate into the Little Rock Arkansas school system. If they found a way to make it interesting without being too preachy, it might work.
