Has anyone else noticed how weirdly "safe" this show is in terms of its morals? People keep feeling disgusted and shocked at all the gore and sex, but Mr. Pickles honestly isn't that bad if you look past all that.

> Parents are naive but well-meaning, even when drunk or drugged
> Mr Pickles is fiercely loyal to his family and constantly protects them from any danger
> Even though he constantly humiliates Grandpa in order to discredit him, Grandpa's never permanently injured or raped
> Mr Pickles saves the lives of several innocent people, like Bigfoot and the apple farmer
> Mr Pickles also goes out of his way to defend Tommy's innocence and financially support the family

If you tone down the gore, the show's characters are more innocent and family friendly than Moral Orel's. I heard that MrEnter hates the show and I laughed at how he clearly can't see past the shock value.

It's a shitty show either way.

I'll never understand why people care about the "morals" exhibited in cartoons.

I don't see why it's shittier than most other shows. In fact, it's written better than most recent Spongebob episodes.

Chuck Jones himself noted how you can't make a cartoon work unless you come up with a reason for the characters to behave they way they do. The weird Squidward torture porn episodes in Spongebob are worse than your average Mr Pickles episode because there's no context for the violence against Squidward most of the time. There's no justification so it just falls flat.

yeah old spongebob is better buy i do like some shock cartoons sometime
>>

Yeah definitely. So do I. It's just that it's not satisfying unless there's some sort of context to it.

I used to enjoy an occasional episode of Happy Tree Friends, but the reason I stopped wasn't because I was "too mature" for it or because the content itself was "offensive." It just felt really flat and boring because bad things happened to the characters for no real reason most of the time. You'd occasionally have episodes where a character does something really stupid and pays the price for it, which is how most shock cartoons should be presented.

If the character doesn't do anything stupid to deserve that violence, then it really feels hollow after the tenth time. Mr Pickles tries to target people who are pretty shitty in the first place, which is why it works so much better than most other shock cartoons.

You'll notice that there isn't a single classic Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs bullies someone for no reason. He's always provoked into acting the way he does. The same logic applies here.

The shock value is all it's trying to be. It;s a worthless show.

It's just a more extreme version of slapstick comedy. If you're willing to say that Tom and Jerry is a pointless show, then you'd have a valid point and I'd agree to disagree.

Tom and Jerry isn't constant gore.
Tom and Jerry relies on a two-person system of both of them getting slapped around, one more than the other, while Mr pickles is just some omega Satan dog murdering everything bloodily.

please leave and never come back

More like Itchy and Scratchy than Tom and Jerry.
>>
>>80725138

It's pretty clear that you're more bothered by how extreme the content is than with the structure of the episode itself.

Tom and Jerry relies on a sense of exchange, but the same structure is applied to Mr Pickles. Instead of a conflict between individuals, it's a conflict between an individual and a larger society that's threatening the family he cares for. The only difference is how intense the violence is.

I am actually,
They could show that off without having to show constant gore.
Its fine in moderation but he slapstick comedy and the morals you keep mentioning take a backseat to the ultra-violence.

Fucking progressive

I thought Mr. Pickles was decent and worth the time I spent watching it. I thought the shock humor was actually pretty funny.
