Post your favorite obscure animated films. I personally just finished watching the Tragedy of Man
>Animation switches styles to reflect each period of human history
>Each style by itself is beautiful
>All that symbolism
>Has a dour if not inspiring message
>Took more than two decades to make
10/10 movie in my opinion
>>80719696
I'd also like to add $9.99
It's a bit more out there than Anomalisa but it's better in most regards. It's a collection of short stories that seem related at first but don't really come together as you might think initially so it may be a bit jarring to some.
I thought this was a pretty darn good adaptation and I'm disappointed no one talks about it.
>>80722010
>Mike Judge and R. Crumb
My interest is piqued.
The King and the Mockingbird should probably be more recognized as a classic than it is.
>>80723889
You could say that about a lot of French animation
>>80719696
i know a bunch of people were looking forward to little door gods but we only had one good long thread for it and then nothing
>>80720614
>someone else has seen $9.99
YES
>>80719696
>obscure
Well it's not very well known and I don't think I've ever seen it discussed here.
>>80727516
>Obscure
Go fuck yourself, I had to watch this at least once a year in high school (In French with English subtitles) until I dropped French for my GCSE's. Literally every kid in my school knew the song.
>>80728270
Okay, what about this one?
>>80728749
Never heard of it.
>>80728270
>>80727843
Pretty much anything that isn't from Disney, Dreamworks, or DC/Marvel tends to be obscure on /co/
>>80719696
Obscure, but also on YouTube for all to enjoy.

>>80728749
It's from the same guy that did Kirikou. Also this.
>>80727494
Okay what is it about?
>>80729449
A white cat with dreams of being a lady leaves her country home for Paris, followed by her orange tomcat lover. The white cat falls in with a bad crowd and is nearly sold into sex slavery by a con man.
>>80719696
Anyone know where I can stream this? I have been meaning to watch it.
So do you folks buy these films or just download them? Ive been trying to find a copy of >>80719696 for ages with no luck.

https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/8367254/
I recently downloaded it though it took a while. I'll try seeding it later by my internet is pretty spotty as of late. Might just end up uploading to a site that doesn't need seeders to work if it becomes too much of a hassle. You'll have to look for subtitles elsewhere too, never could get the ones that come with this particular source to work though found them elsewhere easily enough.
>>80731431
Could you mega it ? Im not really a torrent person.
>>80731885
If you want it by tomorrow morning, then sure.
>>80731913
You said you found subtitles for it right?
>>80731999
yeah, I'll upload them too I guess.
>>80719696
I know lots of people on /co/ have already seen it already, but I really liked Fantastic Planet. The soundtrack is awesome (Big Pun samples Le Bracelet in Boomerang by the way.)
The story I thought was pretty typical but it was told really well. The art style suits the movie well and there's some very memorable moments.
>>80732111
Another movie that's pretty well known on /co/ that's not popular outside of it is American Pop, by Ralph Bakshi. It's rotoscoped but I think it's one of the best looking rotoscoped movies I've seen.
There's insanely huge songs in the movie like California Dreamin, Somebody to Love, Sing, Sing, Sing, Moanin', Night Moves, and This Train. If you like jazz or rock at all, you will love it.
The story is also really well done. It's one of my favorite movies, not just animated movies.
>>80732014
Thank you
Since something from China was posted, I'm posting this. It is technically anime but avoids most stereotypical anime design tropes. It's also a version of Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor.

I don't think shit on netflix counts as obscure.
>>80731913
>>80731885
If you do this, you are a bad person. Teach a man to torrent. Don't do it for him.
>>80733997
The file took me hours to download and I have a speed of 1 mb/s average when my ISP isn't having issues like it's currently having. This way, more people can watch the film and easily download it.
>>80734249
More people should know how to torrent. Same result, with the bonus that those people will also be able to pay it forward with zero hassle. You are enabling dependence that will likely keep this guy and other people from seeing other good things in the future. Don't do it. Share knowledge, not handouts. You can still share the file with them once they have a torrent client going by seeding. Post a magnet, and trust that they want to see this material enough to read a paragraph and click 6 things. Do the right thing, man.
>>80733896
Really? Because it's been a pretty good source for me for random good animated films I would have never heard of otherwise.
>>80734504
The problem isn't knowing how to torrent, the problem is the only source I know of has almost no seeders and I currently don't have the capability to start seeding at a decent rate. Hell, when I can't find a torrent with any seeders for some comics I can usually check archived threads where people uploaded them to file sharing sites.
NOt only will I name one I'll post it. Pratchett's stuff is always a laugh and the animated movies are pretty good too in that weird animation kinda way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pMjkM2xmBI
>>80734999
You could be one more seeder. You could make another by making a new torrenter out of this anon, and anyone else reading. One more person with your tastes would be out there finding stuff and seeding. If you won't do it for the obvious greater good, do it for yourself. Help people help you by teaching them how to get stuff without HTTP.
>>80733024
This was so depressing
>>80719696
Does the The Plague Dogs count?
>>80735247
Sure. Watership Down should, too."Obscure" is a relative term.
>>80735172
>I only managed to download the initial file from a torrent that only had one seeder
>the download rate was still highly inconsistent and it took hours for what should have been minutes
>I can't seed at the moment because my ISP is doing some maintenance over the weekend and I probably won't get a good speed until Monday evening
>If I create a new torrent, that just means an even smaller pool of seeders and I can't seed myself for reasons stated above
I torrent myself whenever possible but this is one of the rare cases where torrenting isn't very convenient due to how obscure/fringe this movie in particular is. Are you going to start shitting on Win-O threads for uploading content to filesharing sites now? Regardless, I'm already in the process of doing it and will post the link in the morning once it's finished.
>>80719696
I fucking love this movie, and I'd post my favorite gif of it but I'm on my phone.
My favorite part was definitely Tancred's story though.
>>80727843
It's too /k/ related for /co/
>>80738617
Ooh, nice.
Personally I really like Mary and Max, (Australia 2009)
>>80727494
I only know about this because I'm a fan of 50's/60's music and Judy Garland/Robert Goulet were in it.
>>80731431
thanks m8 torrenting now. What's that you said about the subtitles? Any hints on where to find functioning ones?
>>80735328
Damn, this film hurt me in a way that no other movie ever did. I had to go out and hug my dogs after watching it.
Bimp
Anyone remember this film? I watched it a long time ago, and I was never quite sure what to make of it.

That russian guy that did the Old Man and the Sea
Beautiful, very well animated film but also pretty bad. I'd recommend it for the visuals alone.
>>80743640
Thanks again bro
this one was pretty cute.
>>80744057
Agreed. The visuals were pretty nice but the plot was all over the place. Why the hell was it called the Day of the Crows when the Crows didn't even appear until the final minutes? I guess I was spoiled by French animation and got my hopes too high for this movie.
>>80735328
From the same director, too. This is the career of a man who couldn't decide whether he hated kids or animals more than the other.
>>80735172
In my place people get fucked on the regular these days for torrenting/dls.. And by fucked I mean sued.

Nope. Generally speaking the candidates who were the ones in line with her politics won. Ironically enough they were not the candidates from her party, these guys tried to cash in with the people's fears and failed.

Could you just fuck off back to 2013, faggot?
>>80745704

Not only a killjoy, but retarded as well.
Book of Kells was nice.
So was that one from Brasil about that kid
>>80746607
I actually preferred Song of the Sea over Secret of Kells but they're both pretty neat films.
>>80719696
Fairy Florence.
>>80748393
Okay, I'm sorry I have to ask, are you the one other guy on /co/ that knows about Fairy Florence and found out what it was called in a thread on here a while back after having forgotten it since childhood?
>>80744244
>Why the hell was it called the Day of the Crows when the Crows didn't even appear until the final minutes?
Because when the whole story passed into a legend for the small town, the crows were the main part everybody remembered, since that was the big notable thing the whole town experienced. I know that's a pretty poor excuse considering the movie wasn't from the town's perspective, but I'm fairly certain that's what they were going for.

Get fucked quads, I'm East Youropoor and have seen them as a kid. Good taste tho
>>80749700
I'm not sure why, but I found this one really boring and didn't like it. I fell asleep watching it.
>>80750139
Oh it's fine, I was high as a kit watching it. Masters of Time can get terrifyingly annoying at times. I haven't seen the Fantastic Planet yet.
>>80750114
From what movie is this?
>>80750299
The Last Unicorn.
>>80750299
>ywn be this new
>>80750221
I actually liked Masters of Time best out of the three, but I think I can see where you might be coming from saying it was annoying at times.
>>80750396
>the kid
>oh we need to save the kid... but let's fucking stay at this old fag's house and skinny dip and I'll maybe fuck this princess
You can't convince me that a 6 year old futuristic kid has no concept of microphones. Bu yes, the kid, being the driving point of the film, was an annoying little shit.
>>80750114
Even Exit?
>>80750477
Eh, I didn't mind him. I've seen much, much more annoying child characters in animated programming.
But now that I think of it, I'm wondering if it was ordinary even in the 70s/80s, around when the film was made, to find a small child that didn't understand microphones. Here in the 21st century it would be nearly unheard of since we're accustomed to children being saturated in our technology and grasping it very quickly. I would think it'd be the same in the 70s when they had most modern conveniences but now I'm wondering.
>>80751256
The fucking had phones since the 40s-50s m8. There's no excuse
>>80751349
I know they had phones but I'm trying to picture if someone on the other end of the phone would pretend to be the phone if it were in the hands of a three year old because they assumed he wouldn't get the concept. There may have been a different attitude about kids and technology among some people. I know in the 90s my mother didn't trust computers for the longest time and she didn't allow one in the house until some years after they were common in most homes, and that she'd been the same about microwaves before that.
>>80751602
We're splitting hairs, but it's a 6-7 year old kid in a marvelous scientific future who doesn't have the concept of phone and radio. That's fucking retarded
>>80727516
Sassy Lil black baby vs negro goddess
>>80719696
I just remembered a good and obscure one, it was named Allegro non Troppo and was Italian made and from the 70s. Pretty psychedelic and conceptwise like Disney's Fantasia, with animation set to classical music pieces. I remember it as fairly good and obscure.
>>80752880
Pretty good movie, but I can't handle the segment with the cat.
I think this ones more heard about in Brazil but all Brazilians I've talked to said they heard it but never watched it.
