Personally, I think it would've been better if it weren't for the fact that he had to fight a generic tentacle monster thing before
And maybe if we started heard him remembering his father's words for motivation to power through the machine
Still a nice scene though

It's not that, it just feels like a different tone from Batman vs. Superman. MoS looks like the story of Superman being told as some sort of modern epic wrought with symbolism, while BvS looks like a modern comic book movie.

I honestly, truly never thought we'd see the suitcase suit after I watched Iron Man 1. Maybe we'll see it in some reference, maybe a blueprint or idea Tony remarks on and immediately throws away. I still can't believe how well it was done. Rewatching this scene makes me smile to this day.

>>
>>80704887
Because the imagery in that scene is that of Clark carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and being able to soar in the face of it.

That imagery is then used again when Clark kills Zod and the weight of he world is metaphorically laid on his shoulders and it drives him to his knees in agony.
>>
>>80705755
No, it's by far the worst MCU film.

It's a total mess of a plot with no focus or structure. Like Brave, you can tell that there was an initial plot idea that was abandoned late in development and the final result was a confused waste.
>>
>>80705827

It helps to not make them OP. DoFP Quicksilver is so fast that he could theoretically win all of the X-men's battles. You're left wondering why the fuck they didn't bring him along.
AoU isn't nearly so broken. He still makes mistakes, he has moments of weakness that can be exploited. I particularly loved the detail of him having to catch his breath every once and awhile. Giving heroes little foibles makes them more compelling.

One of my favorite speedster representation came from AoS last week, of all places (Yoyo Rodriguez, aka slingshot). You see her get the blur behind her, but leaving a mirage of her at each place she steps the ground, while hering her breathing. Pretty fucking cool, I though. The non-slowed down were kind of shit, though, basically stuff just flew away from people. Can't find a decent gif or webm of it, though.

I'm not a huge fan of broken speedsters like Flash or Xmen's QS, although the effects and scenes are impressive. That QS felt more like he stopped time than accelerated, but I guess it would ultimately be the same thing. AoU's quicksilver was fine, but he wasn't given a time to shine. I prefer the blur effect to the magical trail like the flash, and although the Flash (the show) is certainly impressive, they never show his point of view without using a PS2 model to replace the actor. Feels a bit cheap.

Yeah, the product placement never bothered me in MoS. Avengers did it way worse with the fucking beats and Acura bullshit. The reeboks made sense, at least for me.

MoS is a bit whorish, since there's a lot of it, but it's never as badly placed.

But if you're going to do product placement, do it the Ant-Man way, and own it.

I started to post that Spider-Man 3 was Avi Arad's fault and then I remembered Raimi's idea for Spider-Man 4 was to make Felicia the Vultress or some shit. That would have sucked.

Seriously, though, Raimi doing classic Spider-Man stuff is a perfect marriage.

AoU was even worse.

In the Avengers it happens in the midst of the Hypest scene since Iron Man, so it's not terribly noticeable and it's kind of earned, but AoU does it a ton without earning it. MoS also didn't really earn it either, I don't think, but it wasn't that blatant either way.

Also, meeting with the thread:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mZZCTSWqsk

Best character scene in the MCU. Each line informs Sam and Steve and even Natasha's personalities. Fucking perfectly written.

Love how Steve never says anything bad about the present despite being obviously uncomfortable, like he's a guest at someone else's home.
Love how Sam slowly assesses cap's problems and offers help without risking damaging his ego, keeping the light military banter and making Steve going to therapy seem like a favor. Steve would never refuse doing someone else a favor.

Marcus/McFeely are gods.

The best thing about the product placement in "Man of Steel" is that the 7-eleven, the IHOP and Sears all get trashed in the fight. It's hilarous. 7-eleven pays to featured in the film and all it amounts to is a brief glimpse of it before Superman crashes Zod through it, it's hilarious.

>>80723137
This.

MoS did so much right. It wasn't my ideal Superman movie at all but you really get a sense of the gravitas and realness of the whole situation.

MoS was definitely, if nothing else, a movie about an alien super god touching down on Earth and fighting for the survival and future of humanity from his own race.

Yeah, I don't think all of what MoS attempted worked, but when it does come together it's something really special.

In a good movie, MoS best details would've made for a great movie, but since it's a "bad" movie, moments like these make it bittersweet for what could've been.

I hate that the movie is so unnecessarily over-edited and the flight scene where Supes is meant to feel the suns warmth has a huge-ass cold filter over it.
>>
>>80723269

Exactly. The good parts are amazing but it's held back by its baffling writing, editing, mood, and some other aspects that they chose.

It's like half of a good movie.
>>
>>80723400

More like they have a bunch of big chunks of a good movie and don't quite know how to stick them all together effectively.

Like they have amazingly detailed and high-quality panes of art glass to make a stained-glass window, and do a really shit job of actually soldering the frame together.

Honestly, this is how I feel about Age of Ultron as well. Watching scenes like the birth of vision or Ultron's party monologue just make me sad for what could've been. Both films had so much potential shown in the trailer, but a myriad of poor choices left the final products far from satisfactory.

This is one of the most moving scenes in the film. Just when it seems most hopeless, when the weight of the world is forcing him down, Superman finds the resolve, and generates that last reserve of strength to save humanity. If that isn't Superman, I don't know what is.
