Is there any real competition? What websites other than Bleeding Cool report on rumors and whispers in the comic book industry? As far as I can tell, every other website that reports on comics only does so after doing research and asking for comments. The article linked would have been avoided entirely if you had made a single Tweet or DM to Brendan Fletcher: "Could you verify this statement for me?" Or something else along those lines.

There are literally dozens of sites and blogs that report on rumors. Some do it with no intention of verifying the "facts" and are just happy to have a clickbait article title. Check facebook you can't miss links to these sites.
Information moves so fast these days sometimes you have to report first and verify later.
