Pretty much the same. Remember, this movie was made at the height of the original PC movement. There was already a backlash against that kind of thing by the time it came out, but it reflects all the PC doctrine of the time: white settlers bad, natives good and in tune with nature, etc.
Today they'd be called out more on appropriation because the internet is bigger, but they probably would actually try to make it less politically correct, not more, because '90s environmentalism and politically correct history are not all that popular now.
