>I'll let you in on a little secret, Detweiller. Every adult you've ever known was a kid at sometime in his life. You think we don't remember summer vacation? Riding our bikes down the creek. Catching polliwogs in a jar. Camping out under the stars. Well you're wrong! Sometimes I sit there in my office, looking out at you kids in the playground and I think, "They don't know how good they got it. In a few years, they'll be grownups like me and all those good times will be memories for them, too". So go ahead. Put a whoopie-cushion in my chair. Put fake vomit on my carpet. Make fun of my "big, saggy butt". But don't ever say I don't care about summer vacation, 'cause those memories are the only part of childhood I got left.
Wait a minute....
Definitely the best.
Fuck I looked for the Spenelli line
Something's wrong...

I was expecting something with Gus, since that's the only one I haven't seen
Recess was such a good show. And the movie was executed spectacularly. Disney tv was based.I'm ashamed to say I keep looking for "...on my carpet. Have rough sex with Spenelli underneath the jungle gym. Make fun of my..." ever since it was first posted.
>you'll never be a kid again
>you'll never be care free living off of your parents
>you'll never be in school and see your friends everyday
>kids nowadays will never have the balance between technology and outdoor play
>You will never have rough sex with Spenelli under the jungle gym

My nieces and nephews don't know the concepts of
>4 Square
>Wall-ball
>Tether-ball
These were the games that distinguished the kings of the playground. Now it's some aimless democracy guided by text messages, Angry Birds, and Clash of Clans at recess
>>80397283
>angry birds
PSHHHHH GET A LOAD OF THIS GRANDPA
>>80397283
>4 Square
Almost broke one of my fingers playing that game and could barely move it for about a week. Nevertheless that shit was fun.

>if you're a city kid, you're fucked
True though. Can't imagine what the fuck city kids did for fun before computers and the internet.
>>80397370
All the same things suburb kids did but on concrete.
>>80397283
Surely, on recess and at school, phones aren't allowed?
>>80397009
This line got to me as a kid. Primarily because he looked just like my elementary school principal, but mine was actually a really cool guy.
He used to stop by the classrooms and hang out chatting with the teachers and asking how the students were doing. He had a pet iguana that he kept in his office and would put it in little school logo sweaters for events. At the end of my fifth grade year, around the time The Phantom Menace released, he gave me a life-size Jar Jar Binks standee as a going away present because he knew my friends and I loved Star Wars.
Just the thought of such a nice guy sitting in his office wishing he could have one more chance at a childhood long since past made me sad.

Even with computers I still see kids running around on black tops in elementary schools in chicago. I will never understand how that is fun.
Suburb kid 4lyfe
>>80397370
Concrete jungle, exploring shit was fun
>>80397009
Nah I don't miss my childhood summers at all.
I was broke lived with an abusive household and wasn't allowed to do anything fun regardless. My parents were super religious and I was always at church it seemed. Even went to a christian school.
So no, I don't want to relive those years, and the memories only serve to remind what not to do with my kid.

>Disney makes GOAT shows in the late 90's and early 2000's
>puts them in a vault and pretends they never existed
Recess or Fillmore in Kingdom Hearts would be GOAT.

Schools give out iPads now as "educational tools"
>>80397644
I understand but it's still fucking sick

>end of elementary school
>tell my friends I'll be going to a Catholic highschool closer to home
>they all warn me it's all no fun allowed pray every day ordeal where you have to wear uniforms
>tfw uniforms were great and girls were sluts
>>80397500
Sure as hell weren't allowed when I was in elementary and middle school (2001-2009).
I know senior year of high school teachers got pretty relaxed about phones (I jokingly asked if I could bring my desktop and play Civ during class), maybe lower grades changed too?I'm mostly sad that we're now outside of that zone where technology was common but the internet didn't quite develop; that exact setup is how Pokemon got big.

my principal was the same. He encouraged 50's days and was the king of jokes on april fools. He always messed with the lunch ladies.his neighbor shot and killed him and claimed he was a skunk. they were having a land dispute and he was on his mower.

If it makes you feel any better, it was a California idea, and it failed beyond the most cynical of expectations. Kids broke the protection software in days and filled them with porn. The smarter kids just sold them about the same day they were handed out for a tidy profit.

Well, shit.

Why the quotation marks? Do you still go to libraries to check out encyclopedias to look things up? Are you Amish?
>>80397992
No anon you don't get it, literal 3rd graders are getting brand new iPads, but all they do on them is play games and demand more Apple products from their parents who are already struggling to make end meet
My niece and her friends are perfect examples, they only iMessage each other and don't actually meet up outside of school or even own bikes
In fact when I go to visit my old neighborhood where she lives I don't see any kids outside playing ever, it's sad and depressing
Pic related is what the parks look like when I drive by

Swimming and camping is out of the question. Exploring sounds just stupid if you're in a city, unless it's some sort of historic city with interesting architecture. Once you're 16 and can drink and get into clubs a city is great, but as a kid...
Small towns are the reverse: lakes, forests, sea, hills, abandoned military installations. But then you grow up and there's nowhere to go.
>>80397798
I'm sorry to hear that, anon. Mine actually looked me up on Facebook a few months back to ask how I was doing and tell me he was proud of me for raising a family and sticking with my art. Since his retirement, he's apparently doing aquarobics and hanging out in blues/jazz joints, while going to gaming cons and concerts in his downtime.

This website has really destroyed our sense of childhood hasn't it?
>I looked for 'go down on the Ashley's during Math class'
>>80397798
>claimed he was a skunk
What.
>be NEET dropout failure
>did basically nothing in HS, no friends or real memories
>for some reason in my dreams my HS classmates are appearing more and more often, indeed sometimes more often than the people i actually liked in college
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
>>80402734
means you didn't go out enough and u regret it
get a hobby
