ITT: Failed shows that were ahead of their time
>inb4 megaphone joke
Also, Filmore.
The early 2000's was a very strange time for Disney in general. It's a shame that this show didn't really catch on because it was a pretty clever show

It really was. Dave the Barbarian pretty much had all the humor modern cartoons have today.

You guys talk like comedy has fundamentally changed in 10 years. Dave the Barbarian was funny then and it is funny now but it's not very marketable and its kind of hard to look at. Plus, because the comedy is better, there is less ADD wackiness that grabs kids attention. It's no Duck Dodgers, but I'm surprised it even got as far as it did, and I'm thankful for it

You can pretty much see when disney just stopped caring making good cartoons when those shows stopped then they tried to imitate nick by over-saturating their channel with live action shit
Most modern cartoons are better than older cartoons and this board sees anything pre 2005 with nostalgia vision
Fite me

Heh, but comedy that wasn't snarky and sarcastic House-type stuff didn't fly so well in the 00's.
That's why Iron Man was a success, and that's why Captain America is gaining ground fast.

>Disney imitates Nick
Disney is the original child star factory by a long shot

>>80392595
oh fuck I had a good laugh
Ren and Stimpy
>>80392595
what is this? was it some sort or Robot Chicken before Robot Chickenor am I completely mising the point?
>>80393338
It's a stop motion animated show about a trio of LGBT couples living in a town that is solely LGBT.
It's actually incredibly self aware and self deprecating and only lasted 2 (short) seasons.
>>80393371
I feel like that would wear incredibly thin incredibly quickly
>>80393429
Yeah, which is why it went into more parody territory in the second season, taking shots at Anderson Cooper and Wicked.
>>80392950
>Ren and Stimpy
That didn't fail though.

cartoons hit a low point somewhere around 2004 that lasted till 2009 or something. There were of course exceptions.
Modern cartoons are generally on par with cartoons before that
>>80393529
I also loved the scooby doo parody.
The only crime it committed was refusing to do stupid fart jokes and slapstick.
>>80393371
thanks anon!
never heard of it, but I love stop motion. does anyone have a link to it?
also just the name would be fine, so i could try to watch it
>>80393637
Now you're just trolling.
>>80393637
I think most of the hate comes from the characterizations which seem vastly different than Beast Wars. If it had new characters it might've been more liked. And Nightscream was an annoying fuck.
>>80393888
It's called "Rick and Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in all the World"
Again, all tongue in cheek and they make fun of the title once or twice in the show.
>>80393888
Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World
This show was actually pretty funny, parodied all the gay stereotypes.
>>80393972
The Pride Parade episode is fucking 10/10
>I want your sex!
>>80393920
I remember watching the first episode as a kid and being completely put off, because it seemed like all the characters from the previous series had been completely changed.
I never watched another episode
Would've been way more appreciated now than it was 10 years agoand you know it
The fact that Bob's Burgers is a huge success while this was a ratings failure despite both shows having incredibly similar writing, comedy, timing, even a couple of the same voice actors, is literal proof Home Movies was ahead of its time.

HM premiered on UPN. It was doomed out the gate
