Not the same initial success due to less media attention.
Kamala essentially snowballed while he fizzled.
She was not pushed hard by Marvel initially. They just dropped her and the online press went bonkers about her.
No such luck for Robbie, so they pushed Kamala a bit, saw if it stuck, then just kept pushing on as reactions remained positive.
Essentially, Robbie could have been more successful if he had given anyone a reason to shine a light on him. His concept isn't innovative, he is no strange minority, he isn't risky and has no star team.
Essentially Robbie was damned by being too safe. And being not topical at all. Good story for a shonen manga, bad sales for a Marvel legacy.

no the last issue ended with Eli possessing Gabe and transforming him to get revenge, but Robbie was able to break though to him and get Gabe to return to normal. Robbie then killed the guy Eli was after, and by getting revenge for him, locking their souls together forever. Robbie then makes a deal with Eli that so long as they are exclusively targeting the worst kinds of people there are, he'll kill as many people as Eli desires

for me, what really stuck out with the comic was the art.
I fell in love with the art, I think the writing and designs really worked well with it, it was a great package.
But the story itself never really felt like it was intended to be anything more than a miniseries, if you understand me.
