Look I haven't been around for a long while so maybe things changed and if so please correct me if appropriate but,
Numbered Generals ended around the time during the V1 hiatus. Mods had recently started a crackdown on Generals in /co/.
Frozen Generals was wiped off the board at the time. After months and months of no new content but Generals kept appearing, Mods got rid of them.
Now we had new content coming (V2), but that was still months away. Fearing a purge focused on us, we got rid of the numbered Generals and just called it "RWBY/RT Thread".
Mods made us slow down in thread making, because we were too fast back then, so we had to wait until Page 10 for a new thread, instead of 500 posts. But aside from that, we were generally left alone.
Unless things have changed we'll probably have to return to "RWBY/RT Thread" soon.

It's not exactly huge, but it's not tiny either. The DvDs and movie tickets sold out, but it was only showing in 6 theaters and we have no idea how many copies there were. Sure, it got high rankings in sales that week, but I'm pretty sure that's because your average anime has set weeks where each cour of them come out.
