When you realized that DCU classic was never coming back. For me it was Shortly post convergence, Superman is there with Lois and his red undies. I remember thinking, this is the most emotion I've felt reading a Superman comic in five years. And then they took him and put him into their crappy Nuverse. And I was like, "Yeah, even if the did bring back someone like Wally, they would do everything possible to hinder him. Make him wear some black suit. Ensure he couldn't stand side to side with his counterpart, because then the readers would see what a pale imitation they've had to read."

Boy i do miss Cry for justice, what a great story!
>>
>>79812083
yeah I miss Grounded too OP
>>
>>79812125
What about classics like the rise of arsenal and titans ? those are great stories man, the old universe was just filling with AMAZING and creative stories back in the day

>the entirety of pre-Flashpoint was the the books that came out immediately preceding New 52

When will this meme die
>>
I like where this is going
>>
>>79812203
The old universe was on shit for the most part because DC had almost no talent left, the only thing that was good to read was GL and Batman INC and i think Superman too

Why early n52 had to be that grimdark, just why
>>
>>79812203
It was a few gems in a sea of garbage just like it is now

the universe setting doesn't make a difference whether you can produce a good book or not, people are just babies about muh history and muh legacies and muh continuity

>The old universe was on shit for the most part because DC had almost no talent left

Ah yes, remember all that great new talent they brought in for the reboot?
>>

When they made a new Batman Beyond comic, and killed off Terry, replacing him with past Robin.

My DCU died that day.

That image is from a teaser of the beloved Countdown era.

Countdown actually had a lot of neat ideas, just a lot of really mishandled neat ideas

Did anything really came out of countdown ? I just remember that Morrison gave a fuck all to the weekly and the only interesting thing was a seven soldiers

It was Injustice comic, when Tom Taylor did the whole "Man of Yesterday" thing.
Whole segment felt like an eulogy to classic DC.
>>
>>79812596
It was more of a eulogy at how the bronze age was good, which is true
>>
>>79812424
Also the great series and runs like Hawk and Dove, Static Shock, Deathstroke, Catwoman, Batman: The Dark Knight, Mister Terrific, The Savage Hawkman, Firestorm, Captain Atom and Birds of Prey.
>>
>>79812688
>Captain Atom
That was actually quite decent
>>
>>79812638
Just something about that picture of red underwear superman and how everything had changed since then, both in that comic and in DC itself.
You could just as easily see it as bronze age, but I feel it could also be interpreted this way.
>>
>>79812770
I think it was more Bronze Age based around the year 4 annual (i think) Taylor is a fanboy of the Morrison era JL and characters
>>
>>79812738
I dropped it after 2, maybe I'll come back.
>>
>>79812816
its no "WOW THIS IS GOOD" its just a interesting captain atom story, but you are spot on the rest, i don't think the beginning of the reboot was great but today sure has fuck beats yesterday
>>
>>79812804
That does make sense.
He also misses the fuck out of old lobo. I like how new lobo is actually slowly turning into the main man, and that Tom's at least partially responsible for this.
>>
>>79812804
Morrison JLA is not Bronze Age
>>

how is Taylor responsible? Bunn started it by himself in the Lobo book
>>
>>79812876
i always struck that late 90s was Bronze age shit, so what is it exactly ? it sure has fuck aint modern age
>>

who was that guy who tried to save the sack of puppies that old lady threw in the river after supes died? That was one of the most tearjerker moments I ever saw.

He was just some dude who dressed up like superman, but he didn't have any powers or anything.

>>

Early 90's up until a year after Zero Hour is dark age. About around this time things started lighten up a little. More fun, less lines.
>>
>>79812319
What? Most of the talent on the relaunch was the same as the old. The only difference was DC actually putting them on the main books.

Identity Crisis. You really can't come back from having a member of the Justice League raped on the JL Satellite. Burn it all down and start over, it's a wrap.

Look, I think we can admit that the old universe was more bad ideas then good one at the end, but it still doesn't change the fact that post-CoIE continuity is still probably the best continuity and it had the best history over all.

Maybe it's just because I read The History of DC Universe while I was growing up and I remember being curious about a lot of the books in there and thinking they sounded cool, even the ones I never got to read until much later.

Can you guys tell me how Nubo is starting to become like old Lobo?

Because all i see is a very superficial change to his looks, nothing more. Is that it? Just because his hair now is now messy he's just like the old Lobo?

I'm sorry, but no. Nubo's still being written as if he was your average action hero or action antagonist, with no with or bravado to his character. His backstory is still of a honored soldier and lover that was forced to kill his people along with the love of his life. He's nothing like the old Lobo.

A mere change of hair won't change it.
>>
>>79814534
yeah it's just a physical resemblance
>>
When they announced New 52 because I'm not retarded enough to believe they'd backpedal on a full reboot.
>>
>>79814534
It's a gradual change, anon, but it's looking like it will happen.
First he'll say one or two lobo-like things every few issues. Then his mutton chops'll get a bit longer and he'll get a bit cockier.
Then those mutton chops'll turn into a beard, and he'll start looking and acting more like he did in the old days.

Then one issue he'll end up finding or stealing a leather jacket.

You can't just expect full lobo all at once. He's gotta earn it considering we're talking about a transformation from a gay Japanese Rockabilly.
>>
>>79812109

For all of the hate Cry for Justice got, it did give way to a great JLA roster

>tfw you'll never have Dickbats and Supergirl fighting together again

i bet 10 fucking bucks that someone will bright old lobo and he will simply say "i am back batstiches" and either slam nulobo or help him become a man

The only problem i have with The New 52 is the clusterfuck of bad ideas that is bogging down a bunch of C, D and Z-list characters because Bob Harras thought it would be good to let a bunch of hacks and fossils recreate these characters without any fucking foresight.

So i don't expect a return to pre-Nu52 continuity. Just for them to ignore pretty much what they have done to a bunch of characters.

Take for example Creeper, who's now a drunk and suicidal reporter who blacks out and transforms into a Japanese demons that kills innocent people by the tons.

Like... WTF?
>>
>>79814644

>It's a gradual change, anon, but it's looking like it will happen.

He'll still be Nubo for me, because of his retarded back-story. Woundln't be easy to just return with the other one and kill Nubo off? I'll accept even their mutual survival for diversity's sake.
>>
>>79812083
1986.
>>
>>79814732
At lest they fixed a lot of that on DCYou
>>
>>79814784

Unh. Not enough was done in DC You.

I don't understand why they keep books like Scott Lobdell's Red Hood/Arsenal or his version of the Teen Titans. I don't understand either why they keep people like the Finches and Jensen on their big titles.
>>
>>79814845
It was slow, but at least some of those are gone and we may see some interesting shit on the next solicits
>>
>>79814766
Since he canonically killed old lobo, Nubo gradually getting possessed by his ghost is the only hope we have.

B-B-B-B-But DC is fixing their characters! They even put Max Landis, creator of American Ultra (aka the greatest movie of the decade) on Superman! He no longer some faggot moralfag Mary Sue. He no longer has a no-kill code. He swears, drinks alcohol, has loveless premarital sex with random women, leaves people to drown, burn people's arms off, and destroy property!!! It's almost as good as the DmC reboot game!
>>
>>79815217
The first issue was good tho.
>>
>>79812083
fuck off, without new52 I wouldn't have started with DC, I would still be a marvelfag, thank god after my first 2 events I decided that marvel was shit.
>>
>>79815353
Clark getting again and destroying property wasn't. Also the art looked like something from a shitty How-to-draw-anime book.
>>
>>79815555

Meh, let's see how it ends.
>>
On that note is "modern age" an appropriate title for an era of comic books?
Seems kind of shortsighted considering the time the "modern age" started thirty years ago, and a shitload seems to have changed since then, especially recently.
>>
>>79812570
This was my exact reaction to the Injustice Annual with Lobo.
