Think I'll open a bar. These people seem stressed out and depressed enough. Then I could collect the insurance money after the gems wreck the place. Hopefully Lapis.

It's based off of Dewey Beach, even has Rehoboth Bay in that map

n the real Rehoboth Beach, there is a candy store called Dolle's Candyland which is parodied as Danny's in Steven Universe, a restaurant called Bricker's Famous French Fries which has a french fry mascot, and Funland is an actual amusement park for children.

Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, and Dewey Beach are all in Sussex County, Delaware in real life.
>>

nah most of the super natural stuff seems to be kept relatively under wraps considering no big government has put their eyes on the city at any point apparently (or its just the writers asking you to have a little suspension of disbelief because they don't want government to have a big role in this show)
>>
>>79760914
Frankly the most unrealistic thing about Beach City is that lighthouse park hasn't been developed. That's some prime real estate right there, think of the views.

That's what the government conspiracy is for.
They'd need permission to rezone for development, which the mayor's office continually denies.

The US government probably already knows in that the gems seem to have some role in altered American history. There's gem imagery on the money, and if gems helped colonists, I would not be surprised if they were involved in the Revolutionary War. Hell, Benjamin Franklin was probably one of Rose's old human playthings.

So a world that would literally never exist, but then again, it's a cartoon, so i guess I'm asking for too much.
>>79761925
Well the thing is those stories existed in more or less ancient times where normal humans still used bows and arrows and those guys could throw mountains and humans were powerless against them, even united.

The gems exist in a MODERN world, one with tanks, jets, and guns. We could stand up to them. Hell, we could destroy them. But a smart government would detain them and figure a way to make more and create an army to fight the soon coming evil gems that these race-traitors have brought onto the planet.

But that's me trying to bring realism into it.

They live in an alternate earth timeline where humanity is aware of magic and aliens and shit but tends to avoid fucking with anything that smells of weird due to the high chance of death and/or dismemberment.

That's also why nobody wigs the fuck out over the gems.

Also all the monsters are explicitly after the gems themselves who live away from town and were there first.

Another major difference, no holidays.

Also, IIRC there was no WWII. I don't remember all the details on the major differences between SU Earth and our Earth, it's been a while.

Oh, they use $2 as a common form of currency.

>As is if they didn't have to take a warp pad to go after monsters.
You ever wonder why the monsters seem to congregate around warp pads?

When's the last time the gems had to take a road trip to fight a monster?

They're attracted to gem tech. The Temple itself was attacked more than once.

Fuck, Pearl outright says this shit near the end of season 1.
>>
>>79766970
Gem monsters are attracted to them but the fact that they go after Gem monsters in other areas proves that the monsters don't go directly to them, thus wreaking havoc on the local populace.
>>
>>79766900

Well... the Amethysts grew in close vicinity to each other, but the damage seems to be limited to the Kindergarten. And the Cluster is huge, but it has the entire planet to feed on.

There aren't that many gem tech sites on Earth... and they're often in pretty inaccessible places.

Looking at maps of the region, I think it's safe to assume that the city is in one of two locations;

>Bluff Point, if the original thin strip of land south of Dewey Beach somehow got destroyed.
>Cape Henlopen Beach, just to the north; even has a lighthouse, but requires Delaware Bay to be renamed Rehoboth Bay.

Dewey Beach itself doesn't face the right way for Rehoboth Bay to be located above Beach City in the map. The Temple would be facing to the left, with the mainland to the right of the map, for that to be possible.

Just moved here the other day, got to meet some interesting folks. The girl who works at The Big Donut is really sweet but her colleague seems like a prick. Didn't even say "hello" or anything when I walked in, he seemed to be too busy trying to look cool or edgy or whatever, but to me he looked like he was having a stroke.

Tried out some local food, but there's not much to pick. The fries I bought from the stand were goddamn delicious. There was this chubby little kid who, according to the guy who works there, orders nothing but fry bits. Why would you be eating leftovers when the actual fries are much better? He was accompanied by this strange girl; purple skin and very light, flowy hair, and daaaaamn she's quite a shortstack. Seemed pretty fun to be around, even gave me a small packet of what she calls "fire salt", told me to be careful with it when I put it on food. I decided to try it out later.

Local pizzeria....eeeh, I've had better pizza, but this one's digestible. Once your stomach gets used to it.

The mayor tries to come off as a competent, bold leader, but he seems to be a nervous trainwreck if you ask me. His son seems to be embarassed of him, but he's a cool kid.

There was also this guy who seems to run the local arcade and the amusement park, no matter how he talked he -always- had this weird grin on his face. It was reeeeeeally creepy, if you ask me.

Some of the townsfolk say there's a huge temple on the other side of the hill, I may go check it out tomorrow. What should I expect?

Now that those Gem ladies have been gone for about a month my monster hunting career has really taken off! I've bagged two of those big ol' critters already. I tell you having brothers in the military makes it great to get your hands on the kind of gear that makes it easier to drop these things. Plus, did anyone else know these things leave behind gems when they go down? One was as big as my fist and the other was nearly as big as my head! I've got buyers lined up for them and that should bankroll my operations for at least the next year.
>>
>>79768493

>>
>>79768512
I don't think that's a good idea, anon. If those monsters turn into gems when tey die, couldn't that mean those same gems could give birth to new monsters?
Wait, what if even normal gems can make monsters? We need to warn people.
>>
>>79768622
Alright, shits getting wierd. The fall slowed down and now were in a cave. We gotta be like a mile underground.
Fred isn't here though. Were trying to find him.
>>
>>79768512

Bro, if you're gonna keep those gems, keep 'em in some tight sealed box or something that can't be opened easily. Saw some chubby kid putting one of those in a bubble and saying how now it can't "reform" or something. At first I thought it was bullshit, but I took down one of those monsters and decided to leave the gem be for a few minutes. And wouldn't you know it, that fucker just popped back to life like nothing happened, so I had to waste more of my ammo to take it down.

Seriously though, any kind of box or jar that's just small enough for the gemstone to fit in should do it. Been days now since I did that to the one I got and it hasn't even budged.

Although I am seriously tempted to look up that kid and just give it to him, he seems to know what the hell those things are.

What about the fact that gems have been on earth before humans even existed and the fact that crystal gems probably have some sort of immunity pact with the governments due to them defending the earth from homeworld invasion? Or how about the fact that gem tech is still miles above any human tech and seemingly magic. Rose could've just deflected any attacks and heal injured comrades with her tears at ease, not to mention fusions. You think the U.S government wants a fucking gemzilla slapping their shit around?

>>
>>79777395
They aren't really defending the earth from invasion. they are 3 (used to be 4) gems, against an entire world of them. They are more or less refugees that have infested the world with horrid creatures that could threaten human life. At this modern point they are more of a liability. Especially considering they really aren't that terrifying, saving Lapis. But with modern tech like a .50 cal sniper or a drone strike, you could take the gems out in a flash.

I still think harvesting them to create super soldiers/weapons is the best option, for when the gem home world decides to really come to earth, 3 gems and a fat semi-gem won't do shit against a whole planet.

Aww shit I wish I had gotten this info sooner. I had the two gems sitting nice and pretty on a shelf as trophies until their buyers contacted me with proof of payment and the next thing I know I'm fighting for my life. Luckily I was able to take out the smaller monster with a mix of small arms fire and hand to hand combat but the big son of a bitch tore a hole right through my armory. Months of supplies and ammo gone in an instant! I wasn't about to let that stand so I hopped in my car and ran that sucker down, using a mixture of basic household chemicals in the proper proportions I blew his ass to kingdom come. My plans to expand my operation have been severely compromised but I still plan to sell these two suckers now that they are properly secured and rebuild.

Steven isn't from money. Garnet and Amy don't even understand it's concept and Greg gave Steven a bag of quarters(which I assume is everything he made that day at the car wash) instead of $5-$20 in bills when Steven wanted another ranger guy. They also live in a town where everyone freaks out about losing their business if they can't open shop for a few days during a blackout. I Imagine Ocean Town was their upper middle class counterpart.

Greg barely understood what the hell steven was talking about. He just woke up and forgot the minor details of that day so I doubt he remembers about the machine.

Now you're putting words in my mouth. Never claimed Greg was stupid and the guy runs a carwash in a tourist town while supporting his son and his three destruction prone Guardians. He's probably not poor but it's not hard to believe that he struggle sometimes.
