Now I'll be honest and say that in a vacuum I will likely enjoy the upcoming Flash movie. Perhaps even a lot. But it's already confirmed that it will not respect and just barely adapt the comicbooks to begin with. Reasoning that one doesn't need to, or even shouldn't do so for a feature film. But whatever.
I've heard crazy things such a light mechanical power armor flash suit being the source of the super speed. And all kinds of other stuff. It really sounds like they're doing their own thing.
And as I said. In a vacuum I am honestly fine with that. As much as I love classic comicbooks, I feel like the properties do well by not being so rigid. Be free to do re-imagining spin-offs. Their rather neat, even the ones who fail, and the sheer freshness of something different complements the classic comics and vice versa. So it's good really, even if I am likely to much prefer the classic.
But differences aside, the CW show is very much respecting the comicbooks. Yes there are tons of differences and CW renditions of characters aren't like classic renditions of characters. But all things considered, they're still very much comicbook characters. You can tell that editorial didn't go through all of the scripts and tell them to rewrite everything at every step due to TV not being like comicbooks. They really aren't afraid of doing comicbook stuff. And that's why differences aside we have actual speed-force, actual comicbook science, an actual multi-verse, actual reincarnation and mystical magic and stuff. Aliens included. Even the special effects are true to the comics.

The reds and yellows might not be quite as bright as classical 2D depictions, supposedly for photogenic and cinematography reasons. But the very moment the action starts and the powers are in use, all the right colours are there. And everything just looks great.
Likewise for Legends of Tomorrow. They really have embraced it. Everything is just pretty damn great.
And with all that in consideration. We really run into quite a problem, if things like the upcoming Flash movie isn't in a vacuum. If it takes hold of essential characters like Mirror Master and whatever else. In a production that will seldom even respect the classic depictions. That's a tragedy.
I would have no trouble respecting the movie if it wouldn't interfere with other productions. But if it is indeed interfering that's just terrible.
