It's based on a LEGO toyline, but thank Odin the characters are actual humans. Making the characters look too much like the toys really impairs the stories.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this, seeing how "girl shows" are the ones that actually care about plot and character and drama and things that actually make a piece of fiction interesting.
