What does /co/ think?
>>
it aight
>>
I'm reminded of nock force

it's a good thing
>>
>>79677825
The animation looks like something than you'd expect from a solo flash animator on youtube with no formal training. But at least the general art style is a step up from the last short.
>>
>>79677825
It's just not a good series

Maybe it would've thrived three years ago, but this kind of "COOL AWESOME OVERLOAD" show has been done to death
>>
>>79678148
holy shit anon have some hope
>>
>>79677825
If it does get a show, it will probably use this art style but without the same animation budget.
>>
art is good besides tumblr nose

animation is kinda slow and annoying
>>
>>79678194
Hope for what? The idea itself is flawed and it isn't helped by the bland as fuck characters
>>
>>79678213
>without the same animation budget
I hope you mean a lot HIGHER budget. Because this is animated like a first year art student did it in a week.
>>
this ones animation is too smooth
>>
>>79678148
It's that but also has the right level of self-consciousness and satire.
>>
>>79678148
I gotta agree. The situation is interesting for some episodic stuff but the way these low quality shorts are going its just not good. Its overly childish like what I expect to see on Nick Jr.
>>
>>79678289
No, this animation is quite good, especially the effects.

The designs are pretty amateurish, but animation-wise it's way above TV show standards.
>>
>>79678323
You should not be on this board if you think that. I'm not exaggerating, the people responsible for this, like yourself, have zero concept of animation fundamentals.
>>
>>79678292
Yeah, it looks like they did some key frames and then relied on an auto interpolator to fill in everything between.
>>
The animation lacks weight. Very off-putting
>>
>>79678386
Which of them does it not follow?

I see slow-in/slow-out, anticipation/recoil, secondary action, arcs, and squash/stretch all present here.
>>
>>79678457
No weight at all, everything is floating around at similar speeds
>>
>>79678148
>this kind of "COOL AWESOME OVERLOAD" show has been done to death
this
>>
>>79678386
sensei, show us some good modern animation fundamentals
>>
>>79678457
I don't see half of those in this short. Everything moves at the exact same speed at all times no matter what it is. Everything is made of weightless circles just sliding around the screen.
>>
Loved it

Things accelerate and decelerate properly in the short. They don't just go from: Still>Constant Moving Speed>Still

They go: Still>Slower Moving Speed>Faster Moving Speed>Slower Moving Speed>Still

With all the appropriate secondary action.
>>
>>79678567
Wrong. Look at the jump at 0:44 for example. Almost every movement in this short is floaty and drawn out too long
>>
Did Egoraptor have a hand in this?
>>
>>79678617
It's Studio Yotta, who worked on some of his videos.
>>
>>79678567
Yeah. It's not supposed to do that. Every transition is the exact same number of frames. So they checked the "ease-in-out" box on all their auto tweens. That's not how animation works.
>>
>>79678607
I'll concede that bit, but parts animated like that are the minority.
>>
>>79678643
There are almost no auto tweens in this short at all.
>>
>>79678667
God, I fucking hope you're wrong. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.
>>
Animation looks good but these character designs are trash. Piccolo sticks out way too much, and the girl feels like a lazy doodle.
>>
>>79678697
Watch it. It's 99% frame-by-frame, which is why the framerate is so low - To make frame-by-frame easier.
>>
>>79678718
>Its 99% frame by frame
Are you blind?
>>
>>79677825
is that fucking steven universe in the background
>>
>>79678718
The framerate is way higher than TV. That's not even a hard thing to spot. I don't even know how you could avoid noticing that.
>>
>>79677825
I liked it a lot, though I agree the animation in this was kind of off-putting.
>>
>>79678567
You're not supposed to slowly transition into and out of a jump. People don't slowly lift off the ground and then slow down again mid air before landing.

>>79678743
No. Almost every single frame is clearly a new drawing. See pic, which also demonstrates most of the principles I mentioned.

>>79678786
No, the total number of individual drawings is higher (far fewer held frames), but the rate at which they're running here is like 12-15 fps instead of the standard 24-30.
>>
>>79678890
With jumps, the slow-in/out applies to the anticipation ("winding up the spring"), followed by a quick release. Though >>79678607 correctly pointed out a bad jump, most of the jumps are handled properly.

No, I'm just backing up my initial statement.

>Art style literally just becomes SU lite with tweening

Oh boy
>>
>>79679717
I'd say it looks like SU crossed with Regular Show.
>>
>>79677825
Shit got gay
that's a bonus
>>
>>79677825
The animation seems off. I cant put my finger on it but it's like there is no resting period.
The movement seems unnatural or too busy if that makes any sense.
>>
>>79677825
regular shit wannabe with dbz influences
meh
>>
>>79678760
Can't seem to aynthing SU related it unless you are talking about the dog-nut poster in the background or something? and that was only present in the pilot I think so it's probably an inside joke between Sugar and JQ
>>
>>79678386
I'm a professional animator and I think this looks great for a web/TV animation. Obviously it's no feature film level, but that's a given. Only problem is that the timing in some of the shots is too floaty, some movements are very smooth and slow when they need to be snappy and quick, which would be easier to animate and look better.
But overall the short is really fun and lively, the Yotta guys did a great job. I worked a bit with them but wasn't good enough I guess :(

It does, I'm feeling the same way. Also the characters feel slightly annoying but Adventure Time and Gravity Falls also felt slightly annoying (and still do periodically). Nowadays I often end up judging both shows silentlyI but I had some good fun rinbetween. So this show will get its fair chance before it might be judged through a hyperaggressive, irrational tantrum by yours truly.

Ah I remember how I silently judged the Steven Universe promo art of the pilot since I thought the protag would be a teenager or young adult. So always give a fair chance.
>>
>>79677825
the anime influence is strong in this one...
>>
this is fucking terrible
I hate the fucking pupil enlargement every two seconds, westerns finally completely forgot how to draw expressions, fucking weebs
>>
>>79677825
Okay, I'm starting to hate the voice for the kid KO guy.
>>
>>79680953
Son Goku(Kid)
>>
>>79677825
Did they fucking re-use the exact same font for Steven Univere's logo?
>>
>>79681112
i think they did...man how much can one go?
>>
>>79677825
it's kinda a little like Star vs is.
just replace magical girl stuff with DBZ stuff
>>
>>79680953
Yeah the voices are kinda annoying, and is Rad voiced by Ian JQ himself? The only not annoying voice is the girls and that only because she is a really mild character up to this point. I really digged the boss from the pilot though
>>
>>79677825
I hate how K.O. is turning into another post-movie Spongebob clone
>>
>>79677825
The art style is better than in the other shorts but the animation feels weird for some reason.
>>
>>79682865
What he's a Kid Goku clone, that's what Goku used to be like.
>>79681266
I like K.O's voice he's a Goku clone that sounds like Goku.
