I'd agree with that, but it never felt like they really focused on that in book 4. It was almost like Toph said what needed to be said, and then they just moved on from there. And in the few cases afterwards where that comes up, the answer seems to always be that the world needs the avatar, even though it looks obvious that they could have fixed those problems without Korra. I guess that for me book 4 does the same thing as pretty much all the books, it presents an interesting premise and then doesn't deal with it.
What i meant by the end talk was about the compassion bit, which felt like a lesson Korra learned, that she didn't need to learn. If anything she should have learned to not let the past control her.

It might not have been the major focus, but I thought it at least tried to emphasize that Korra managed to learn something more than simply being right through brute force.
The morally grey conflict is still resolved pretty quickly, and Suyin's never called out for her questionable part in what happened, but at least they didn't just have Korra kill Kuvira off and call it a day like they did with the Equalist conflict.

My problem just is that Korra said she deserved almost getting killed by Zaheer so she could learn to be compassionate. She didn't need to learn that. She tried talking to every single villain, maybe not for long but she did try. However her sparing Kuvira is treated as something game changing for Korra. I don't think it was, she just never had the chance to spare any of the others herself.
Because lets remember that Korra didn't kill Amon, she didn't even capture him. She tried to save Unalaq, but wasn't able to, and Zaheer was just imprisoned, but not by her. So to me the lesson she learned was completely misplaced. Instead i think she should have learned that the world doesn't need her, and that's ok. Or that sometimes bad things happen and that is not her fault.
Allthough i am also happy she didn't kill Kuvira, and that for once she got to bring in the villain herself, even if the talk they had felt very forced. However i think they treated the problems facing them now that Kuvira isn't in charge pretty poorly by having Korra just leave for some time. And yeah the equalists disappeared very quickly for no reason too.
Also just to clarify, i don't hate Korra or LoK or anything like that. I'm just frustrated with how much potential it had and the promises i felt it gave, but failed to live up to.

Fair enough. Korra did have her share of rash moments though, and with the way they had to backtrack on some development for Book 2 resorting to force was seen as a recurring part of her character.
So I suppose Kuvira was the first enemy she really had a chance to showcase that she wanted to try to end things on a peaceful note if possible.
