Reminder that Marvel gave away all issues of issues 2 and 3 for free to LCS in the amounts they ordered for #1, which means that the sales for issues #2 and #3 are just the sales from issue #1 except Marvel is taking it at a 100% loss.

Issue #4 isn't being given away for free. We won't know the actual sales for the book until then.
>>
>>79650889
>12/15 Spider-Gwen #3 - 54,844

I'm guessing IIM stabilized around mid 50k while Soider Gwen dropped again.
She's been a thing for almost a year but her book is still experiencing a lot of drops.
>>
>>79649346
>all these Marvel books
>most of them didn't even reach #5 yet

Don't Marvel realize that flooding the market with their shit will cause another crash?
>>
>>79651559
Well the only things that are selling are #1s, events, and Star Wars so I have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>79649349
>>Darth Vader's pursuit of Luke Skywalker leads him into a dangerous confrontation in Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca's Star Wars: Darth Vader Volume 2: Shadows and Secrets from Marvel Comics, the best-selling graphic novel of January.
At first I thought this said "leads him into a dangerous confrontation with Kieron Gillen" and got very confused.
>>
>>79651559
They know, they just don't care
>>
>>79651555
The novelty's gone and Marvel really messed up when they decided to end her title for three months because "muh Secret Wars." A bunch of new readers decided it'd be a good time to stop buying comics then.
>>
>>79649346
fuck, I can't believe I actually thought DC might finally be recovering after they got around 30 last December.... it's never ever getting any better from the looks of it. How long until Rebirth cancels all my favorite DC Books in an effort to push more books that'll sell (Read: Batman). FFS I have no idea what the fuck to think if whatever that shit from Bleeding Cool turns out to be true.
>>
>>79649346
Is DC even trying?
>>
why does marvel have so many #1s?
They always seem to have a shit ton of #1s
>>
>>79651656
That can be said for a lot of Marvel's books tbqh
In their haste for that #1 money, they messed up quite a few books that were selling high that could've ridden like a 80k boost down across 2-4 issues or even settled higher.
Antman #5 sold like 80k, which was almost double the issue before but they just cancelled it, and now it's back at 30k at issue 2.

>>79651897
Settle down, everything but #1s and Star Wars is selling. DC is doing the same as last month except they shipped only four new books after canceling a lot more. Also those books were minis so of course they aren't gonna sell. Also DC just had like 20 less books than marvel to ship overall.
It was just a terrible month for the big two and comics at large.
>>
>>79651982
They just relaunched everything. All the #1s won't be finished until March or April.
But thankfully they have CIVIL WAR II (please see the movie and buy our books™) to help raise sales since they're dropping off 50% at #2 and 75% by #3
>>
>>79651982
#1s = money

They've been relaunching half their line over and over for a couple years now, they launched upwards of 70 new #1s over the past couple months

>>79651996
You're assuming people read beyond the percentages. Majority of most comic book forums have their users already saying how much DC failed on January.
>>
>>79651996
This

Marvel is putting out several more products at a higher overall price, Star Wars is a sales beast that DC does not have an equivalent to, the final Secret Wars issue came out, Marvel has #1 issues out the ass, etc of fucking course they have a high market share

DC's market share isn't so hot but their actual numbers are about the same as they've been for a few months. They're in kind of a tight spot but things aren't getting notably worse
>>
>>79652129
And DKIII and the Millerverse Jason thing didn't come out this month. So DC had like nothing but the main Batman title, JL, and Harley as their high sellers.
And who knows how well received the variants were this time. I doubt DC will find as high selling variants as the Bombshells ones. Those raised the sales like 10k+ per issue the first time. It was insane.
>>
>>79652241
Yeah even the second round of Bombshells variants didn't do nearly as well as the first time

Understandable
That was the best male variant with beefcake Aquaman coming in a close second
>>
Big winner this month is obviously the X-Men, this is the first time the entire line has outsold Guardians of the Galaxy in months.

Biggest loser Harley Quinn after December's massive push and no Black Book it's now falling behind Thor, Wolverine and Gwen for top girl book spot. are fans already suffering from Harley fatigue?
>>
>>79652781
Could be due to the variant not being well received like last month's or having two books is spreading her character out too much.
>>
>>79652781
GotG is fad of the month. X-Men has more staying power and an already established loyal fanbase
>>
>>79650889
Vision is at least getting 12 issues. I doubt King will continue after starting his Batman run.
>>
>>79653351
>guardians of infinity #2 that low
Yep
>>
>>79653440
Was #1 selling so high a fluke? It dropped hard

And why the fuck is #2 still 4.99?
>>
>>79653625
It sold high because of multiple variants probably.
Most marvel books are dropping more than 50% at issue 2 because of this.
>>
>>79653690
Didn't every #1 have 4-5 variants minimum? Not everything was in the top ten or even came close, I'm not really sure why Guardians of Infinity in particular did so well
>>
>>79653946
I'm guessing retailers bought up a lot of variants looking at the movie and the sales of bendis Gotg and thinking the name would sell. Considering the huge drop a lot of people didn't buy.
>>
>>79654029
>Considering the huge drop a lot of people didn't buy
I hate that this needs explained every single time we have a thread about Diamond sales, but let me explain to you how this works. Again.

Comics are solicited 3 months ahead of release. LCSs put their orders into Diamond within 1 month of the solicit release (so 2-3 months before release) barring a few last minute orders since Diamond tends to order a few extra just incase. Then Diamond buys those comics from the publishers to then resell to the LCSs based on how many issues they pre-ordered 2-3 months prior.

What this means is that the actual sales (LCS -> Consumer) do not effect Direct Market sales (Diamond -> LCS; what all these threads are about since they're the only ones we have hard numbers for) until 2-3 months later. So the "sales" of issue 2 that we're currently looking at are not effected by how much issue 1 actually sold because the LCS already bought all the copies of issue 2 before issue 1 even came out.

That 50% drop off you always see from issues 1 to 2 has nothing to do with what customers are buying, and everything to do with what LCSes expect to sell. LCSs expect #1s to sell twice as much as #2s, so they're ordering half as many #2s as #1s with bigger drops being on account of variant covers.

tl;dr: Sales of issues 2-3 of any comic (depending on double shipping) don't actually reflect how many issues were sold, but rather how many issues the LCSes expect to sell.
>>
>>79654250
>Comics are solicited 3 months ahead of release. LCSs put their orders into Diamond within 1 month of the solicit release (so 2-3 months before release)
The Previews issue containing those solicits comes out one month later. And so the retailers actually order the books 1-2 months in advance. If I recall correctly.
>>
>>79652077
did she forgot that the Marvel president gave him money or what ?

DC OBLITERATED

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>3. Spider-Man Deadpool #1

This got printed with The Vision #1 in the back, right? Hopefully that'll boost Vision sales.
>>
>>79654250
I guess that is why ms marvel dropped. They expected the hype
>>
>>79652077
>Donald Trump & DC
Really now?
>>
>>79655072
Well DC hates hispanics, muslims, and gay people, so yeah.

They've never even had a title featuring any of those things ever.
>>
>>79654865
Vision #4 was in Marvel's top 10 highest digital selling comics last week, and was #16 overall. That's pretty good for a book that had such a horrid sales debut.
>>
>>79655267
>10 marvel books in the top 16

DC getting obliterated there too huh
>>
>>79655072
Don't you know that DC are racist, homophobic, anti semitic and capitalists. Didio and Lee are known as big supporters of the great beaner wall.
>>
>>79655267
But digital barely means anything, you could say that it works for shit like grayson but not really the rest
>>

Considering they tried really hard to obscure her for years, that's actually not a bad debut.
>>
>>79653946
>Didn't every #1 have 4-5 variants minimum?
Yes.

The books marvel pushed hard like IIM, Spider Gwen, etc got upwards to 15+ variants. IIM got over 20 IIRC.
So maybe Infinity got more than 5 since it's a Guardian's book.

The Johnfriends are mad anyway because the first issue wasn't all about him, they won't mind it failing

Kind of hurts to see GL fallen so far from those golden days a few years ago though
>>
>>79657566
That happens to literally everything Johns writes though.

JL is one of their highest selling now but if he leaves before the movie it'll probably drop like a rock.
>>
>>79657614
Yeah, I know. Still a shame

Do we have hard numbers for these yet? I wonder what EOO's debut was compared to Lost Army

They should just relaunch a GLC ongoing. I dunno why they cancelled GLC to begin with, the minis could have just been arcs
>>
>>79657566
Oh, I know.
>My dream book is John and random aliens, NO OTHER HUMAN LANTERNS!!11!
Ah, that accursed Johns and him pushing boring Hal.
>>
>>79651109
>mini
>selling
But what's the point, anon? I can just pick up the trade a few months later.
>>
>>79657899
I am already certain they're going to use Edge of Oblivion's lower numbers as proof that Lost Army succeeded because of John being the focus, ignoring that relaunches haven't been working well for Marvel OR DC and that Lost Army still performed less than GLC
>>
>>79657566
I wish DC had given the GLs to good writers.

>>
>>79651534
Reminder that even with free issues sales are still going down, meaning LCSs are turning down free comics.
>>
>>79663038
Sales are on a all time low, people are not buying into Marvel shit and DC did something bad with convergence
>>
>>79663038
S-shut up...
>>
>>79663038
Vision is a good book but I'm going to laugh if there's a sharp drop with #4
>>
>>79663221
Its a good book sure, but we have to keep in mind that if the book is not Cutsey shit or action packed 24/7 with a A list its not going to sell
>>
>>79663038
That's likely just because of variant cover issues not counting to the free issues.
>>
>>79664310
That better be right and not just retailers choosing to not have tons of copies lying around. ;_;
