Is this /co/'s official fetish or something?
>>
Could this edition BE anymore giant?
>>
>>79187634

I'm fine with having the armor not associated with just Jango and Boba.

>>79188025

I vaguely recall finding Maul cool as a kid because of his looks and saber.
>>
>>79188864
Offshoots of fetish for dominant women (giantess, femdom, /ss/, pegging, etc.), yes. You could make the case that would be /co/'s primary fetish.
>>
>>79188806
We literally already had this shit thread, fuck off already.

No, it's just some idiot that spams this shit constantly. We had the exact same thing last week. He's just doing it for the luz. Also /co/s fetish might be short-stacks.

Literally Vader.

Honestly, Season 1 Inquisitor. I fucking loved his first appearance when he greets Ezra and Kanan in the prison cell and calmly, ruthlessly curbstomps Kanan while lecturing Ezra about the Dark Side. Perfect establishing scene. Sad he didn't survive the season.

The biggest part of the episode for me was small but telling. When Ezra jumped up and latched onto the stormie and starting beating his shit in. Even Kanan was surprised by his action there, definitely telling of his dark side slippage.
>>

It was how young Rey was just a smaller version of current Rey. I wonder if maybe the vision was...blurring her past and present self? Sounds like the kind of thing the Force tends to do.

But the real reason is JJ felt people were too stupid to recognize babby Rey otherwise.

The Emperor appearing in Jedi. So calm and confident, even though appearing to be a weak old man. Then that creepy ass laugh as the scene fades out. You don't need to go showing off badass powers to prove how strong you are, just got to have gravitas.

Among my least favorites:
>Dooku never got a good theme song in the movies, and they tried to make him so subtle about being a bad guy that his appearances never had much impact. Thankfully, him showing up on Tatooine in the TCW movie was suitable for Christopher Lee's trademark villainy.
>Grievous in RotS, on top of most kids being upset at how pathetic he was compared to his Genndywars version (I got over it, love him TCW now), he just never felt like a passable villain on the Invisible Hand or on Utapau, and Kenobi keeps trying to make a fool of him, undercutting the menace he got in his animated appearances.
>Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother. Their first appearance felt like they were squandering their powers in contrast to the earlier Inquisitor who made full use of his first impressions. I'm optimistic about them growing into better characters later, but their first episode didn't make them out to be impactful villains themselves, and created more of an insidious greater scope of the Empire's dark siders beyond just them, rather than making either of them intimidating on their own merit.

I grew up with the prequels and I don't know a single person who doesn't find those movies to be mediocre at best. I love them all, I'm as big a Star Wars fan as a person can be, but come the fuck on, there is no way you can spin it that puts even RotS above a 7/10 with TPM and AOTC at 6's because I'm generous and have nostalgia for them. The OT and TFA are vastly superior. I honestly just want to watch you die so that I can take comfort in knowing such a terrible opinion has left this world for good, and I don't appreciate how far to the dark side you've made me fall to say that.
>>
>>79189655
IIRC, the old excuse was that they were built to sabotage ships or targets that needed to be captured, or that were carrying something important on them. So, if a republic ship had a prototype piece of tech the CIS wanted to steal, they'd have some buzzers latch on and cripple the ship while leaving the target unharmed and ready for capture.

If that changed, then I have no idea why they're still around.

He was originally supposed to die in the TIE Fighter crash but JJ liked his performance so much that he did some last minute changes to keep him alive and have a slightly larger role. >Umbara arc

It was so amazing. Even three or four years later after it aired its pretty solid.
>>
>>79189744
It really isn't, though.

I legit have not spoken an adult who enjoyed. My uncles didn't like it, saying "it was pretty much just the first one". My parents didn't have anything to say about after they saw it except 'eh'. My friends didn't like it. I mean, I didn't like it, but one of my friends seemed offended by it being so bad, which made for a heated bar discussion.

Even my normie friends didn't really like it. And when I say 'normie' I mean people who don't work in television and film, as that's the background of most of my friends. People who know shit about film and direction, and they for the most part don't think it's 'well directed' except for one who is a literal shill.

You're welcome to think I'm 'memeing' or trying to shitpost if it makes you feel better in your hugbox, it really doesn't matter to me. You're exactly the kind of person the movie is geared towards: an idiot. So whatever.

Why should we grade Star Wars movies on a curve?

You know, not even /sheev/ but what exactly does the Empire do that makes it so heinous and evil? (besides blowing up planets, which they only do much later on in their reign).

I mean, in so many of the books and comics they bang on about how evil and oppressive the whole thing is, and yet all their attempts of proving it seem to be very much forced (no pun intended). In fact most of the oppressive things the Empire seem to do are just retaliatory measures taken out against rebels and dissidents. To quote Prince George from Blackadder "...tell me about these "oppressed masses", what are they so worked up about?"

Are these rebels just nationalists who are upset because they're ruled by a guy 300 light-years away?

Are they starving? Because unless the planet is being blockaded they don't seem to be suffering in terms of material losses.

Really half the time any rebel character talks to a neutral person all they do is bang on about 'muh freedom' rather than citing any factual problem.

There's a difference between an echo chamber and a thread full of shitposting children lashing out at people for enjoying TFA and the OT instead of their trash prequels, which is exactly what retards like him are trying to do. It creates problems and ruins threads, which is what has happened here. Literally the only complaints I've heard about this movie are "Mary Sue Rey", "ANH 2.0" and "no exposition". It's really just nitpicking and personal opinions, not actual flaws. And even if all of that were true, it would still be a fun and entertaining movie with good dialogue and a perfect mix of practical effects and CGI. That alone makes TFA hundred times better than any of the prequels.

The thread is for talking about everything Star Wars. Rebels, TCW, TFA, OT, PT, NuCanon, Legends. Everything. If people want to have a non-critical conversation about any of those things, they should be able to do so without being attacked. Telling people to fuck off because they want to talk about an aspect of Star Wars that you personally don't enjoy only brings negative vibes to the thread.

By all means, be critical or praising of anything you like. But do so in an intelligent way, without insulting anybody or driving people out just because their opinion is different. These threads can be comfy without being an echochamber/hugbox, all it takes is altering the tone that you use when talking to each other and not taking things personally.

Basically: grow up.

Do you really think Disney, a large scale corporation, has time to settle whats canon? Hell, they just bought star wars for the merchandising and profit. If they really didnt care about the prequels, they wouldnt let the director of episode 8 say that he found the prequels to be "beautiful"(probably from a artwork/design perspective) or let JJ mention the sith and the clones in episode 7.

Just by nature of it being a remake of a movie that was made 30 years eariler by a man who can't blink without copying Spielberg and not understanding why Spielberg does it, it was the most boring. Because we've literally seen it all before.

There were no interesting visuals. The pacing was far too fast for any one shot to matter or make an impact. There was no real taking advantage of modern technology or filmmaking techniques. Nothing really got a chance to stand out. They touted the practical effects and sets and stunts, but the only thing that remotely stood out was the attack on the Jakku junk town.

The completely contrived nature of several plot points like the Han Solo ship, the incredibly stupid nature of "the map", and more only really fall flat. But what really fell flat was the half assed introduction to a character that's suppose to be the new big bad, Snoke. There was no introduction, set up, no anything. You don't really get an impression of him as anything other than a Palpatine clone.

Then all the familiar and predictable story beats of rescue Rey, break in the fortress, attack the bigger Death Star, all just brought in with an atmosphere of 'who cares?' There wasn't really an effort to put in stakes for these major scenes, because they felt they didn't have to. That much is obvious. Even the characters themselves treat the whole situation with an air of "we do this shit all the time, big deal."

And getting off technical aspects of the film, say what you will about George as a director and script writer, but what he always had going for him was imagination. Always trying to improve and do outdo himself. JJ Abrams' notion of 'going backward before you go forward' is insulting to that legacy in the same way his Star Trek movies were an insult to the spirit of Star Trek.
>>
>>79191024
Far from it anon. Better than Aftermath, but that's not saying much since that was a genuine 0/10, but it's certainly not very good. Lords of the Sith and Twilight Company are must reads. And Lost Stars if you haven't already.
>>
>>79190809
It's just straight up not true to say that Disney doesn't care about the PT, although not as openly or lovingly as the OT. And saying they don't care about products like Rebels, the Kanan comic or the Anakin and Obi Wan comic they're actively financing and marketing right now is just being wilfully ignorant (not to mention the abundance of PT references in all of the NuCanon OT-era comics and novels).

TFA does borrow from lore established in the PT as well - the Sith, the need for the Force to be in balance (as mentioned by Lor San Tekka in the opening scene), the Jedi Temple are all referenced by characters in the film, and all were concepts that did not exist before TPM was released. And as the art book shows, at the concept stage many prequel elements were being included, the biggest of which being Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin's ghost (which may yet be carried over for the next movie).

>Clearly, Force Awakens is far from the worst Star Wars movie, but it might actually be the least interesting. In some ways, the triumph of this, Star Wars 2.0—and its predictable, nostalgia-reliant, repackaged thrills—is a defeat for what made the trilogy extraordinary in the first place—its madcap sci-fi originality and genre-bending experimentation.

>Force Awakens is the most derivative Star War; as some commenters have pointed out, it’s almost a scene-by-scene remake of A New Hope. At first that’s a huge relief (no prequel-scale disaster in sight) and exciting, even. We watch imperial troops from a galactic empire pursue a robot with stolen plans across a desert planet and into the care of a young loner with mysterious powers who was then aided by a wisecracking smuggler and his space ape in a seedy interstellar tavern where cheerful aliens play catchy orbital music, and we all grin wide.

>But by the time the Rebellion/Resistance is blowing up the third incarnation of the Death Star in almost as many films, doesn’t the Force seem to be contracting a bit? We’ve been here so, so many times. And that’s to say nothing of the host of callbacks to past plot points, cameos from beloved characters from the original films, and the familiar John Williams crescendos.

I agree with this. TFA was definitely flawed in its concepts. They went over board with the parallelism with A new hope.

However, I did think the characters and visuals were top notch. Although CGI, was fairly obvious in some scenes, the castle was what I was most surprised by as most was CG. The characters, although entertaining, lacked logical backstories and had no real interesting expansion or skillsets to expand from their backstory, besides Kylo Ren.
>>

Couldn't disagree more. TFA looked and felt awesome to me. The characters were likable, the visuals were amazing, the pacing was fast which made the movie more exciting, the cinematography was really beautiful at times (Han's death scene for example) and the humor was genuinely funny. Did we need a third Death Star? No. Was it wrong to give us almost no explanations about the state of the galaxy? Yes. But the movie was still very entertaining and actually felt like Star Wars, unlike the prequels that were just horribly directed, written and acted.

>>
>>79191472
>the pacing was fast which made the movie more exciting

I couldn't disagree more.

The pacing is extremely disjointed. It relies on fast cuts away from the action that don't allow the film to breath with the brief moments of exposition it has. 1/3 of the movie is focused on the search for Luke, which takes a grinding halt until the last 30 seconds on the film.

Everything that happens in between is effectively filler for what the movie told us the plot was supposed to be.
>>
>>79191144
