I liked how the Byrne stuff had Luthor gradually bald through the issues. It kind of made him a nice foil to Superman. Superman is this perfect specimen with a magnificent body. Lex Luthor is very human, and ages and balds.
A lot better than the kind of silly Silver Age thing about Luthor resenting Superman because a scientific issue made him bald forever (but he curiously has no scar tissue on his head or anything). Kind of odd how Waid brought back that hokey element for Birthright. Can't remember if Johns used it in SO or not.

Of course I have my preferences when it comes to a character with multiple iterations across multiple mediums, so no shit.
But I'm also not the guy who is focusing on superficial details like looks. Sure it's important in it's own way, but what matters most to characterization is how character acts and what he says.
And so far nothing that this Lex has done or said has filled me with confidence that he would be a villain to like.
