Island has been pretty hit and miss on the whole but the misses are still worth a read for their creativity or weirdness. That's pretty much the point of an anthology comic so I can accept a furry artist. The one thing that fucking MUST go is the prose stuff. The prose and interview portions of Heavy Metal are from guys like William S Burroughs or Fellini or HR Giger or John Waters. In Island they're from Brandon Graham's douchebag hipster friends.

in total agreement with you. Island is hit and miss - the mummy skater one could have been a lot better and the Multiple Warheads seemed like filler - but those atrocious prose pieces must disappear. then again,Island will most likely be canceled soon unless they get bigger names to contribute.
it's about damn time we see Prophet: Earth War. it's been delayed, what, a year? nothing Graham and co. have done in the meanwhile can compare to the awesomeness of what they've done with Prophet series.

while i dig the 8house work from what i've read - the first few issues - it really is kinda confusing for new readers. don't know why they didn't use the traditional "finish up your story before starting a new one" method. just when the reader begins to invest some connection with a story, the series hops to another one with little resolution to the previous arc, and the reader has to wait months on end for a continuation. am i nitpicking here? the format of 8house kinda bothered me.

Just put "ISSUE 2 OF 3 - ISSUE 3 COMING JAN 2016!" on the cover and stop numbering the series outside of the arcs, is that so hard? There's an 8house #5: Yorris #2 but Kiem and Arclight are still ongoing? Or they're not? and there's gonna be a Yorris #3? Or not?
You have very vague impressionistic often non-liner story telling and then you're publishing the arcs simultaneously and the you're not making it clear when one begins and ends and then you're also delaying half of the issues by months. This is the sloppy shit that KILLS your comic regardless of quality or content. Get an editor.

indeed, but sometimes you gotta have the talent to back it up. it seems like Graham overextended himself somewhat, handling both series. maybe if he'd gotten a more high profile editor, Island would have received higher quality work. i can see 8house still working in a one arc at a time way, but the switching up stories - including the spin-off series - kinda detracts from the process, i think. the constant reshuffling of artists in Prophet worked better for that series. i think they were going for a similar thing but it just hasn't garnered as much interest.
