ITT: Insanely obscure characters that you're surprised aren't more popular.
pic related. See that bitch? That's fucking HEADHUNTER. Bitch wears old fashioned shaving razors on her fingers and likes to drug people and then stick their heads through a hole in a wall so it looks like severed heads mounted on her wall. She doesn't even kill them, she just thinks it looks cool or whatever. She's also pale as fuck and so stylish it's retarded. She had like one featured story ever (during Byrne's Namor run) and then a cameo years later and has never been seen since.
>>79107119
>>79107131
>>79107140
Well, that's probably the best character called Headhunter I've ever seen.
>>79107119
SHE KILLED SAM JACKSON?!??
>>79107119
Byrne's Namor's early run was WEIRD.
So dies she actually cut people with those razors or is it just for style?
So when does the porn start rolling in?
A) how the fuck can she not get instantly BTFO by Namor?
B) She seems like a watered down Lady Deathstrike
This bitch is like the female Swamp Thing of the 19th century and almost nobody's even heard of her. It probably didn't help that she debuted during probably the worst Swamp Thing run ever.
>>79107119
>>79107475
Probably because she's from the 20th century, and she's just a female Swamp Thing.
>>79107475
>19th century
She originated during that time period in canon, but was still alive by the 90s when she appeared alongside Swamp Thing.
>>79107528
Her storyline origin is that she's from the 1800s.
>>79107119
>look up google
>Headhunter's regular occupation is being a Wall Street broker
That explains it, why be a full-time villain when you're getting rich off of Wall Street?
>>79107350
I actually don't remember. I'd have to re-dl those issues to check.
I can't say I'm surprised that these guys aren't more popular but I'm super interested in them. They're genuine, John Wyndham-ish mutants who are a bit like a non-photogenic X-Men or Runaways.
>>79107119
>displays 'severed' heads on her walls, in reality her subjects are sedated
Yet another fetish I thought I wouldn't be into
>>79107119
... That's a really bizarre enemy choice for fucking Namor.
>>79107607
Yeah, I forgot to even mention that part. She was a crazy corporate type. This was during the "CEO Namor" era of Byrne's run.
Remember the time when Josef Stalin, Lucrezia Borgia, Heinrich Himmler and Lizzie Borden formed a supervillain team to fight the Avengers?
Because I do.
Does her appeal need explained? Does a more perfect girl exist?
Were I ever to enter the comics-writing or -drawing world my sole aim and intention, my raison d'etre, would be to legitimize Thumper as a comics villain (or antihero) in the Marvel universe.
>>79107712
To be honest it's a complex circumcision/Aryan-Semitic fear metaphor and you're probably too dumb to understand it.
>>79107726
>calling him sub-mareener in-story to get his goat
Nice.
>>79107607
>why be a full-time villain when you're getting rich off of Wall Street?

Created by Joss Whedon's dad.
No, really. Tom Whedon who wrote a lot of the Electric Company skits is Joss' dad.
>>79107764
I'm really afraid you're not joking.
>>79107921
>not understanding Namor is and always has been the most psychologically complex Marvel comic
I'm not afraid; I'm just horrified.
>>79107726
>>79107607
Her henchmen were named Mr. Stocks, Mr. Bonds, and Ticker.
>>79107742
That's an incredible design. Does she just dress like Cap'n Crunch and use a boxing glove? That's it? Where can I read about her?
>>79107712
>... That's a really bizarre enemy choice for fucking Namor.
Byrne has a long running tradition of pitting very strong superheroes against really weak villains. His Superman run had a bunch of one-trick pony villains which were little but a speed bump for Supes.
>>79108023
There is no greater idol.
>>79107475
Untrue. I can think of at least 3 worse.
>>79108055
Shit, what comics is she in?
>>79108027
But Skyhook, tho! He kidnapped children and... And... Uh...
Dominic Fortune. Would add some variety instead of using the same S.H.I.E.L.D. associated characters for every spy story.
>>79107726
Where are his ankle wings?
All of Steve Mannion's characters, or at least the females. Fun books with hot pieces of ass running around on each page and tons of cartoonish violence. Quality shit.
>>79108253
>>79108124
And Bloodsport! And Silver Banshee! And Host! And...
>>79107641
I could tell it was those crazy fuckers from the thumbnail. Good taste.
Captain Britain feels like Marvel's answer to Doom Patrol sometimes, the sheer volume of crazy shit it turns out.

>>79108904

Headhunter's great. It's a pity she doesn't seemore time in the sun.
>>79107726
>The only male character is almost naked
>>79107119
yeah...I'm not surprised at all that she's not more popular.
>>79107350
she does cut then, then connects their head to some tubes to keep their heads alive or whatever, but they can't talk. She actually succeeds in taking Namors head. I don't remember how he comes back from that.
Any of the parody characters from Spoof Comics. I'm SHOCKED there isn't any rule 34 of these bitches or even any fan art period.
>>79108420
Issue number?
Mara from the G.I. JOE cartoon. She's essentially Dolphin from Aquaman except in the G.I. JOE universe.
And you're surprised she's not more popular?
I never understood why Munitia doesn't have a larger following. She's one of the best latter day G.I. JOE designs.

I always thought Death Adder was dope as hell. A few appearances here and there but nothing no casual fan would know who he is.
Cool design, Cool power set. Stealth Ninja meets amphibious reptile man. What's not to like??
Firebrand had a great design. Why didn't he stick around Iron Man's rogues gallery?
>>79111009
Because Iron Man has the only rogues gallery that's utilized worse than Wonder Woman's.
>>79109962
Nice Female villain design which GI Joe lacked.
>>79111144
What's that you want more Cheetah and Giganta?? No?? Well fuck you, that's what you get over and over and over and over.
>>79110696
I want this guy on a new Thunderbolts team so bad...
Looter was only held back by having a shit name. Such a waste of a design. You think he would have been renamed.
Reptyl was also a great concept. Cosmic powered Dinosaur. Why did he not get used in another Cosmic marvel series??
>>79111962
He was a main character in Super Hero Squad of all things.
>>79112066
Different character.
That was "Reptil". He was awful.
>>79110696
>>79111009
>>79111901
>>79111962
I posted too many marvel characters. Dc's Wild Dog also had an interesting vibe.
>>79107475
I'd fug that tree.
Does Ragman fall under being obscure enough?? He pops up now and again but he had a great design that wasn't explored too much. Then again most of Shadowpact did...
I really, really want a definitive Persuasion run.
Purple Man's rape baby, same power set, but she deceloped it later in life, after she grew a conscience, and tries to be a good guy.
She flips back and forth but more often than not shes a villain because that's easier to write.
>>79112326
he has such a great design
>>79112399
What do you mean? He was the main villain of the recent FF movie! Also boy was his role in Injustice fantastic.
>>79112432
Would be interesting as an exploration of morality with crazy power.
>>79111009
There been like six different Firebrands already, they either get killed off or someone makes a new one because they forgot that any others exist beyond the dead one.
>>79113179
It must be like Crimson Dynamo light. How many total incarnations is that character on? A dozen? More?
>>79111167
Crimson Asp was another Cobra villain with a cool design and she's possibly even more obscure than Munitia.
>>79113332
Reminds me of Marvel's Viper combined with Diamondback.
Blitzkrieg was bomb. Did he ever even get used after Contest of Champions?
>>79112525
Y'all have some weird ideas of good design.
Ultimate obscure characters right here. Blown the fuck away that these never became popular on /co/.
Dr. Deth with Kip and Muffy.
The story of a little boy and his two buxom young adult women companions who wonder a post-apocalyptic wasteland all alone with no rules, no authorities, and no one to tell them no, free to do whatever they like and act on all their desires and impulses with no regard for what civilization thinks or considers "taboo".
They drive around and murder uggos and land whales unfit for /s- uh... survival... yeah.
They later recruit a toddler boy... purely by coincidence of course. The series was obviously 100% innocent and nothing impure was ever implied or even intended.
<_<
>_>
Basically the be-all-end-all of /ss/ bait. And yet /co/ would rather obsess over Bikini Cowboy or whatever.
>>79117164
Link to some issues?
>>79108237
>Where are his ankle wings?
If I recall correctly, he lost them during the early part of Byrne's run, due to environmental pollution or some similar thing. He eventually got them back, though.
>>79107119
Ridiculous character but flawless design. She's Dr. Strangelove crossed with Batwoman. I'm in love already.
>>79117226
Two short stories in a creator-owned anthology series then never appeared again.
I could possibly storytime at least one of them though.
>>79117164
From the man that brought you G.I. JOE.
No joke.
>>79112467
He has a distinctive design. It's pretty terrible as far as actual clothing goes. It's like if Ian from Forgotten Weapons decided to fight crime on the way to a hockey game.
The Blood Red Queen of Hearts.
Her design speaks for itself.

>>79119314
>>79117348
Byrne did pretty much the most fashionably awesome female character designs ever. His She-Hulk is worth reading for the clothes alone.

His books before Man of Steel were good.
Everything after was sliding into mediocrity or sheer awful
>>79107119
Why wasn't there a spot reserved for Shooter?
>>79119977
He was long gone by then. Byrne had presumably stopped being butthurt by the early 90s.

Lynn Michaels. Best female Punisher and one of the only three decent Punishers along with Frank Castle and Jake Gallows.
Here's a REALLY obvious waifu bait character that seems like they should be more popular.
Cloud was a literal cloud of space gas that was somehow alive and could make itself look human. She was butt fucking naked and was only covered by gas trails over her tits/ass/crotch. She joined the Defenders during the later years of the original series when Marvel was doing a total overhaul on the original roster. She also had vaguely defined ludicrously overpowered superpowers and was legit one of the most powerful members of the Defenders, which is saying something given who else was on the team.
You think there'd be tons of rule 34 of her, but I can't even find something as simple as fan art aside from a single pixel art image that comes up in google.
That one mutant with five mouths - one normal, two on shoulder blades, two on palms. I can't even remember her name.
Not sure if this is obscure enough since it appeared in a pretty famous run, but who was that bitch in Morrison's X-Men that had fungus powers?
>>79110123
Is Napoleon NOT a hero anywhere outside of Britain? Maybe Spain/Russia?
>>79111301
I think he's dead again.

Here you go.
>>79111901
He was. He went by Meteor Man a few times.

Their enemy organization was in the 2005 game.
That's about the closest thing to a resurgence that they've gotten.
>>79121665
>>79121043
>>79120562
God, I'm still mad about how Fraction and Remender brought her back.
>>79121587
Everywhere? Dude was a fucking megalomaniac who tried to conquer the world?
It is estimated that six million people died because of him. If world war 2 hadn't happened, every internet argument would end with someone comparing the other party to Napoleon, not Hitler.
I wouldn't call them "obscure", but it's been a very long time since we've seen a proper, competent Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. They started off as the X-Men's arch enemies, then they took on kind of a Team Rocket role, and now they're an afterthought. Now that Secret Wars is over it would be the perfect time for a new Brotherhood to debut.
>>79121844
And I'll submit an obscure waifu while I'm at it: Rhapsody from Peter David's first X-Factor run.
Everyone from this comic in general, but especially these.
>>79121809
Difference: He was a better strategist
>>79111227
Nowadays you'd be lucky to get Cheetah and Giganta, it's all about some second string Greek god or some forgettable insurgent amazon.
>>79121844
Who's the chick in the left?
Marvel has a superpowered professional wrestling federation called Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation. There's an all-female stable in the fed called The Grapplers. Aside from Carol, who was just temporarily associated and not a full member, they were cool as fuck as a concept. I would read the fuck out of an ongoing featuring them or just the UCWF in general.
>>79122014
That would be Mystique's "very close friend", Destiny. In other words, the only lesbian pairing less subtle than Kitty Pryde and Rachel Summers.

Also, Roughhouse. Half-Giant motherfucker.
>>79123427
Nuke was never obscure though.
>>79123461
Eh. In terms of mainstream shit, he sure was. In terms of like, avid comic fans, I guess. Same with USAgent. Is the Unicorn obscure? I liked the part where he walks into the fucking ocean.

>>79123547
He's not really "relevant", since he was just intended for one story originally, but that one story is pretty famous. Enough people know him from that that he's not quite "obscure". It's kind of like those mobsters in Batman Year One. They haven't been in a lot since then, but they're still pretty well known from that one story.
How obscure is C.O.P.S.? I fucking LOVED that show when I was a little kid.
Don't have a picture since I can't grab anything on a work computer but I'm really surprised nobody's gotten more mileage out of Flag-Smasher.
Hell, given how lefty and "borders shouldn't exist" a lot of current cape writers are you think they'd be down with a guy like that. Even willing to give him a more sympathetic portrayal.
>>79110696
I feel like all of the Serpent Society gets kind of the same thing at least as far as the individual members go. I like the concept in that it really feels like a group and that everyone can strike off on their own and it feels natural (as opposed to maybe what they're doing with the Wrecking Crew right now). But outside of a few, mainly Diamondback, they just kind of exist.
I'm really surprised Marvel never tried to use the BAD Girls to leech off of BoP's success.

They squandered that really fast and just made them generic villains.

This guy isn't super, super obscure but he certainly would be if Ellisbolts hadn't give him that moment X number of years ago.

Speaking of Death Adder and Firebrand, a LOT of the guys and gals killed by Scourge of the Underworld could be pretty cool, either as serious villains or comedic characters.
Cases in point:
>Basilisk: Teamed up with Death Adder after his resurrection and almost killed the Punisher.
>Mirage: Sinister Six aside, he was literally my favorite part of Superior Foes of Spider-Man. He's such a lovable loser
>Lascivious: Made Spider-Man fall in love with Frank Castle
>Turner D Century: Hasn't done anything since his resurrection, but goddamn, his whole MO is that everyone who isn't living the post-industrial revolution/pre-World War I lifestyle should be fucking executed. It's amazing.
>Others who I think could be cool, but can't think of anything specific to say about them: Megatak, Commander Kraken, The Vamp, Gamecock (just for the lulz).
>>79134396
There's only one Death Adder I care about.

Stella Stargaze, villain from the FemForce comics that AC Comics publishes.
>Stella Thompson was a girl who was born in poverty and raised in Apopka, West Virginia. She was extremely beautiful and used this to get herself out of this poverty. She won a beauty pageant that led her to a job where she became the assistant of a stage magician.
>The magician, The Great Leolani, was working on an item called the Hypnotic Eye that could plant post-hypnotic suggestions in women so he could take advantage of them. He tried the Hypnotic Eye only to find out that it worked only on men. Stella Thompson stole the Hypnotic Eye and used it to snag rich and handsome men around the world to gain their wealth.
>Eventually, she started a company called Stargaze Enterprises at New-York, and became Stella Stargaze, talk show host. She used the Hypnotic Eye on her guests to reveal deep secrets on her show, which made her even more popular and rich.

But I don't remember anyone with fungus powers. Closest I can think of are Basilisk the living fart and Glob Herman, who's made of highly flammable wax.

Because being a brain in a jar is visually striking, and that matters more than in-universe logic, really. I would like to see a story about her with a body sometime, though. Maybe if her veins lit up she would still look interesting enough that they'd keep her around. She was implied to be pretty depressed before she was a brain in a jar... Maybe she hasn't been fixed yet because she thinks she deserves to be a brain forever?

There was a scene where she was alone in a classroom and there were like mushrooms growing all over the ceiling.

What did they do?

Fuck Yeah, Grapplers!
Here's someone obscure, Fateball (the girl in teh foreground) from "The Craptacular B-Sides"
Her power? She has a legit-Magic 8-Ball that really tells the future. And she knows some martial arts.
That's it.
And she's from New Jersey.
Team up with Ms. Marvel when?
Is Dawn obscure enough? She's probably legit the hottest fictional character ever except MAYBE Jessica Rabbit and/or Holli Would.
This motherfucker right here. Always seemed like he had great potential as a villain.

Yeah, I don't remember that at all. Are you sure it was Morrison?
>>79149749
Pretty sure.

Yeah it suddenly makes sense. Itbwas like they took a DD character and mashed it to another
Mantra.

Even though Vendetta never replaced Punisher 2099, she WAS a Punisher analogue and while far from a great character she wasn't bad either.
Generic Man.
He's from Keith Giffen's Heckler. He has the ability to turn things around him into simplified abstract concepts. Like he can reduce a newspaper cluttered with stories he's holding into just a blank piece of paper save for the word news written on it. I mean, just look at his picture and the potential stories you could EASILY come up with. Why hasn't Grant Morrison tackled this character yet is beyond me.

man, that guy sounds awesome. You could put him in front of the world's most secure terminal and he could reduce it to a generic 'future' computer with no password or protection.
You could put him in front of someone dying from some specific designer disease, hand him a tetanus shot, and he could turn them into 'generic disease' and 'generic cure' that would fix the victim instantly.

The Heckler is so fucking insane in general. That's a book someone needs to storytime sometime.

The best thing about her was her design.

It's a long, stupid story that took place in Punisher War Journal #11 and #18-23.
I'd go into detail, but I just got home, and am tired. So here's issue links - https://www.mediafire.com/folder/2vdhm3dahanq3/War_Journal_Vol._2_(Matt_Fraction%3B_After_Vol._6)

Dale Eaglesham thought he would be cool to bring back, but I think he's only an artist and not a writer, so I guess he didn't have the necessary pull.

Oh, yeah. That guy was weird.
Happy Kitty. The most blatant waifu bait character ever.
