This is probably dumb but I feel like this would make a good short comic story. The CEO of a fictional superhero comics company has a superpower himself- he feeds off of the life in other living beings, expanding his own lifespan. If a writer fails to sell enough, the team votes on him and they bring him in as a sacrifice to the CEO. Leaving is futile, as well. The series can start with a man putting resignation papers on a desk with the back of the CEO seat facing him, and as he leaves, he's chased by people. He nearly escapes, but they drag him in, and a hand comes down, fingers piercing his eyeholes, and sucking the life out of him until he turns to dust. The next morning, a newspaper says "Comic artist dies in traffic accident." The reader, a young, attractive, and comic-reading Detective, flicks the newspaper down, saying "this is the fourth guy from this comics company in the past two years. Granted, his art was shit, but doesn't this seem weird to you guys?" The others don't give a shit and notice nothing because he's the only one who reads comics. They think he's just going full conspiracy mode.
Then over time, he's working to try and catch evidence, and eventually joins the team himself as a writer using an alias in order to get proof from the inside. Although, unknowingly to him, his youth and attractiveness makes him the biggest target yet by the immortal CEO. He can only hope his comic sales stay high before he becomes a victim himself.
Getting kind of a Death Note vibe here too. Maybe the end could be a team of police detectives having a stalemate with Stan Lee. He's bleeding out from one bullet wound, and lunges at one of the characters, sucking the life out of him in front of their very eyes for the first time, but they all fire led into him several times immediately and he collapses to the ground as an unrecognizable, mangled, bloodyTENTACLE ALIENcorpse.
