BLOODLINES RETURNS BITCHES!
BLOODLINES #1 "HOSTILE TAKEOVER"
Written by J.T. Krul
Art and cover by V. Ken Marion
1:25 variant cover by Jill Thompson
On sale APRIL 6 • 32 pg, FC, 1 of 6, $2.99 US • RATED T

When a meteor crashes to Earth, bringing with it an unspeakable alien presence that terrorizes a nearby small town, the lucky ones die first. As for the rest, they find themselves locked in a hellish struggle for control of their bodies and their minds. This isn’t just an invasion. It’s an infestation. What would you do if the greatest threat to humanity was hidden away inside you?

Award-winning writer J.T. Krul (Teen Titans, Green Arrow, Jirni) and superstar-in-the-making V. Ken Marion (All New Soulfire, Jirni) bring you their dark and horrifying science-fiction epic about tortured souls who are cursed to a fate worse than death...much worse.

Okay, while I love Gunfire because I have a softspot for loser characters, Bloodlines does not deserve a revival because of how much of an uninspired cash-grab it was at the expense of X-Men's "Golden Era" in the 90's

Bloodlines was DC Crossover in the 90's about Alien Parasites who try to take over the earth and as side effect power up a number of people, Basically every tie in book created a brand new character but only one character (Hitman) is remembered fondly.

Even though I hate to admit that a namefag could say something not entirely autistic, but this is mostly true. At most of the new input DC has been delivering this past year, my first thought usually is "oh, good, at least this shit book I've never asked for will be safely contained in a 6-issues TPB no one will never ask a reprint for anyway".

>Secret Six by Gail Simone kek
>Black Canary (literally hipster trash)
>Earth 2: Society
>Red Hood / Arsenal
>Starfire
>Telos
>Titans Hunt
>Harley's Little Black Book
>Suicide Squad Most Wanted
>Doomed
>Harley Quinn/Power Girl
>Bizarro
>Bat-Mite

If you tell me you've ever wanted those, and that you enjoyed more than, say, 2 of those, you're either a casual, a fag, a pleb, a liar, or all of the above.
>>
>>79106176

Secret Six is great right now.

Earth 2 Society just got Abnett on the title and he really turned it around immediately.

Bizarro was fun as fuck
>>
>>79106176
Starfire is good and I'll read Suicide Squad's Most Wanted because Rob Williams is crushing it on Martian Manhunter right now.

No one was asking for Omega Men. No one was asking for Prez, there's nothing wrong with swinging for the fences.
>>
>>79105634
People hate him for his Cry of Justice spin-offs. To be fair, the entire event was terrible and editorial might've had a hand in it.

Now I'm going to agree with you, but that what I said => for 2 or 3 surprising good titles, we have dozens that nobody asked for and which go die and wither after the 6th installment because they're pure trash.

>>79106223

It looks like it took some time, and even though it might be 'ok', I hate Gail Simone both as a human being and a writer too much to support her in any way

I don't know how he's going to handle the setting or the bullshit history that this series has now, but all the characters were bang on the money (Jay's still too much of a fuckup for my tastes though) which endears me a lot to it.

I mean for fuck's sake, Alan is back to being a big green gay CEO and it's GREAT.
>>
>>79106340
Nope, you must be someone who doesn't know how to read:
>If you tell me you've ever wanted those, and that you enjoyed more than, say, 2 of those
Since I respect a tad the notion of subjectivity, I gave ye the possibility to like one of those (for you it seems like it's Bizarro). You'll do better at school tomorrow kid, don't worry ;^)
>>
>>79106359
I think what he meant was that at least if they're things that would sell well it makes sense for DC to put shitty books out, but when they're shitty and obviously there's no market for them it's just a poor business decision for them to exist.

But you seem to enjoy being mad so I'll leave you alone after this one.

>>
>>79106782

It doesn't take place in the New 52. It's its own thing in the "story over continuity" direction they've pushed.

Even without that though, we know that Hitman took place because Hacken is running Noonan's in Tomasi's run of Batman and Robin.

Stop acting like a moron. With titles getting canceled due to low sales you'd hope they'd get replaced with other great ones, but understanding that it's a business you assume another Batman centered ongoing, or Batman/Wonder Woman and hope for the best.

What is the purpose of ...this? It doesn't look particularly interesting, Krul is a hack with a few good projects in there, the art looks shitty... And it sure as hell doesn't look like it's going to sell.

She's certainly well-known but I don't think you'll see the sort of appreciation on the price of a variant that would make it worthwhile for a shop to increase orders on a book only for that. Doesn't seem to have that kind of crazy collector fanbase behind her at least.

Heroes aren't trying to kill each other and no one's been killed for no reason. And he remembered they're called Wonders.
If he can keep it going for a while after he's spread a bit less thinly, he might be able to turn it around.

I thought /co/ hated Abnett for being a cuckold?
>>
>>79107403
Alan is now Businessman Swamp Thing instead of Green Dr. Manhattan

Hawkgirl got some dialogue and page time

Dr. Fate and Steel showed up again

The issue wasn't nonsensical flashbacks, Superman and/or Batman wank, or hero vs. hero shit

It wasn't perfect but it was the best Earth 2 related thing since before WE
>>
>>79107403

Go check out the issue yourself. He writes some fun character interaction between all the Wonders and remembers that they're CALLED Wonders in the first place.
>>
>>79107540
All he has to do is get rid of all the super and bat characters
>>
>>79107618
That kills sales, bro.
>>
>>79107639
But then it'll be good
>>
>>79107592

A cuckold that writes damn good team books.
>>
>>79107639
the sales are already not good, I don't think the five Val-Zod fans will make much of a difference if they drop it
>>
>>79107650
Remember: sales = quality.
>>
>>79107618
Well he seems to be trying to do something with Fury, the Wonder Woman replacement.

I hate those three so much.
>>
>>79107650
this earth 2 has never been good
>>
>>79107650

As long as he spreads out the attention so that WildBats and Val don't get ALL the spotlight, we're good.
>>

>a company doesn't do what consumers want it to do
Jeez, and you're surprised DC is bleeding money? Also, if you're not entitled as a buyer, you must end up paying way too much for shit service in life man
>>
>>79107672
You didn't ask for them?
>>
>>79107684
Was Dick in the last issue at all? I know Val was part of Alan's roundtable for whatever reason
>>
>>79107700
Pandering is for Marvel or Image. Deal with it.
>>
>>79107735

Yeah there's some criminal shit going down in Gotham that he investigates, but it's only like two or three pages out of the issue.

Yeah, Dick was in a page in New Gotham or whatever it is called.

Though I don't get why everyone is creaming their pants over Abnett on Earth 2. It was a very minor improvement and is still a really mediocre book.
>>
Why does Marrow have Rogue's hair and who gave Nightcrawler steroids?
>>
>>79106782
Hitman was canon ever since the Lobo wedding tape showed up in B&R.
>>
>>79107817
Because Marvel has given up on mutants and has sold the comic rights to DC.

It did show signs of improvement but I think some folks are just getting their hopes up too high

I liked seeing Alan back to (relatively) normal but I think anything Abnett could potentially do with the book is crippled by having to follow after WE and Wilson
>>
>>79107814

It's more the fact that a lot of us really loved the characters in Robinson's run and were crushed when the development we wanted to see got flushed down the shitter. Abnett appears to pick back up a lot of aspects of those characters that we enjoyed so we're more hopeful that things will be more interesting to follow in that respect.
>>
>>79107814
Then stop reading it. If you can.
>>
>>79107701
The only thing I'm asking for is a reason to get Cyclone to be back together with Stargirl.
>>
>>79104178
I like the SOUND of it. It sounds less like "lol XXTREME" and more like a horror-themed book which is a nice take.

It's just that J.T. Krul is garbage.

>I think anything Abnett could potentially do with the book is crippled by having to follow after WE and Wilson

Not the guy you replied to, but that's kind of why I didn't get excited for the creator change. I'm pretty confident that the put him on the book to tie up loose ends, basically the same thing that happened with JLU. Maybe he'll get a relaunch to do what he wants with the characters later on, but I can't get hype for it now.
>>
>>79108052
Yeah I wasn't terribly excited to see him on the book because now it's too little too late, he got dealt a shit status quo to work with and with the sales relatively low and interest flatlining I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's just there to wrap up the book with issue 12
>>
>>79104701
They can't. Just like with Robinson's Starman, Ennis co-owns Hitman and all related characters. He has the final say if they ever use Tommy and co again.
>>
>>79108121

Thank fuck.
>>
>>79108092
>>79108052
Are you sure? Everything about the developments in this issue screamed "Jumping-On Point" to me. They had expository dialogue for people who didn't read World's End/Convergence and three or four new plot threads.
>>
>>79108308
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But it's usually what happens when sales are bad. Catwoman is headed down the same road most likely.
