oh c'mon is no one gonna admit that they all watched Predator or Friday the 13th as kids even if they were R-Rated? FFS fucking Alien had a toy line and it was Rated R
>>

It's as though people want Deadpool to be Spider-Man, and assume his movie is a superhero movie, when he's not a superhero.

Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon Deadpool, but that's about it.

So if it's rated R and it's the same film, it's a problem. Change the rating and it's a-okay. The mom is a fucking idiot, hope she jumps off a cliff.
>>
>>79081623
"R" means Under 17 not permitted without parent. So the kid can just go in with a parent.
>>
>>79081736
That's what boggles my mind. The late 80's/early 90's had Rambo, Spawn, RoboCop, etc. all violent yet had big merchandise endorsement to kids! Did those kids seen go see the films or were just interested in the toys?
>>
>>79081889
Honestly hoping Deadpool is a big success so maybe it'll get WB to maybe finally take a serious look at really doing a Lobo movie

>>79082021
oh no to get it PG-13 would probably mean removing/toning down DPs shit talking and the gore.
It'd be like trying to tone down the Crank movies, you'd have to hit so much shit to do it, it'd likely completely fuckup the movie
>>
>>79081736
Honestly I'm 24 now and I can't remember if I've seen a R rated movie. But that's mostly due to lack of interest in movies in general.

Spawn was so fucking weird. In one scene you get introduced to a spunky 90's kid with a backwards cap and a dog as a self-insert for the child audience. Two scenes later the disgusting clown is threatening to rape Spawn's wife.

The only R rated movie I actually saw as a kid was Predator when I was maybe 9 or 10 and I knew it was awesome.

Robocop and Rambo had cartoons, which is what the toylines were based on. Same with Aliens but the cartoon never went into production. Spawn was never really aimed at kids, more teenagers and young adults.
>>
>>79083141
Shining was my first R rated film, I think I was 8. My parents for some reason were quizzing me about some non-important things of the film like what cartoon was the kid watching. I thought they were being demeaning, but I think they were trying to get me over the shock.

>Even without the movies I still knew about Alien and Robocop, I had a bunch Alien toys because like any self respecting child of the 90's I loved monsters
That was the weird thing about the 90's. Even at a young age, you were constantly aware of these R-Rated films. Like, I knew everything about Xenomorphs and stuff, and I never saw the film til my late teens.
Which is pretty funny cause I remember my little nephew seeing AvP, and thought that the Predators were the Aliens because they came from space and the Aliens were the Predators because they came from underground. That logic astonished me because I completely understood where he was coming from.
>>
>>79083098

R-Rated Movies rarely make the Money PG-13 get. I mean, there was a reason Expendables 3 was PG-13. It was a stupid reason, but understandable.

Fury Road, despite people treating it like the greatest thing ever, didn't even break 400 million.
>>

we'll get like, three R rated comic movies. One will be canned due to production issues, one will be okay, one will be a massive flop that'll convince people to go back to avoiding an R rating

Joe Kelly's run is the best run and only breaks an R rating really because of blood. The censor the curses and there's no real nudity as with most Deadpool comics. There is mature themes but nothing inappropriate I feel.

How about you let parents decide what their kids could watch?
Yeah, I know american parents are fat useless slobs that would start crying that they did not expect the movie to be so graphic and violent, like they already do even with ratings, but maybe that would help to create a generation of not morons that get informed about shit prior to throwing their fat children at the theaters?

Literally the only thing it takes to change the rating of a movie is convincing the dozen or so people on the MPAA board to do so. Now, they'll be sticking their necks out to soccer mom criticism if they let a racey enough movie get a pass, true. But they have no specific guidelines they are held to. The idea, however flawed the implementation, is to do just that (you can still take 4 year old to see Fury Road if you want to. You just have to sit through the movie with them.)

My father used to bitch more about the "accompanied by" than than the needing to buy the ticket actually. The only reason porn is still censored in Japan is because no one in their government wants to go down in history as "the guy that wanted porn uncensored".

This is true of goddamned near everything goddamned near everywhere. Look at the idiotically outdated and puritanical rules the FCC has in place for broadcast TV in America. It's supposed to reflect "community standards" yet they lose their minds over someone saying the word "fuck" or Janet Jackson's tit being on screen for half a second; unlike cable/pay tv which, because it's 'opt-in' rather than 'public' ACTUALLY reflects the standards of what the general public finds acceptable.

Unless this movie has hardcore sex scenes that shows full view penetration than the kid can see it. In america violence is nothing to us.
>>
>>79084299
>>Back then, R-Rated Movie
>>Kids have to be sneaky to see it

Mostly we'd bug someone's older father/brother/uncle to take us (moms were MUCH more concerned about what we were planing to see) to the theater and if we couldn't talk them into getting tickets to whatever we wanted to see (almost always because they didn't want to buy and extra ticket and sit through whatever it was) we'd just get tickets to something else that had an earlier show time and then get up and walk into the other theater after a trip to the bathroom.

And if it wasn't worth that much effort we'd just catch it when it came out on cable.

Yep. Meiji-era japs wanted to show the western that they were "civilized"... except they went even further than the west itself. Censorship emerged about the same time that gayness began to be perceived as bad.

Washington State, Regal Cinemas.

I haven't actually paid for a movie ticket in years. I get free tickets as gifts all the time and I only see maybe 3-5 movies a year, so I'm sitting on like 10 of them right now and they never expire.

You gotta admit. The 80s/90s had some pretty rad movie monsters, heros, and bad guys that pushed special effects to their peak. Robocop, Alien, Terminator where mega popular so you at least were aware of it back then through posters, candy, trading cards, vidya, toys, pogs

That's not the official Deadpool twitter and it's such an edgy as fuck thing to say, least he could have done is make it funny.

Also she isn't trying to change the rating of the movie, she wants the studio to make a PG-13 edit for her kid but honestly she can just buy a program and do it herself when the movie comes out on DVD if she's that worried about her son seeing naked people and hearing naughty words or hire someone to do it for her.

Deadpool was in Ultimate Spider-Man (he has been in two episodes) and in Avengers Disk Wars, both aimed at kids.

He was also in the Super Hero Squad MMO which was aimed at kids as well as Lego Marvel.

He was in an issue of Marvel Adventures.

Plus the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, the Facebook games, and MvC3 not exactly aimed at kids but unless they have a parent with a stick up their arse they will most likely have played those games too.
>>
>>79084194
Was it implied that this "Matt" has cancer? I figured this was supposed to be a mom who doesn't want her child exposed to violence.
>>
>>79082060
And Spike said "Shit" in the Transformers movie, those were other times when it was considered normal for a kid to watch R rated action and horror movies.

Heck I think it was Robocop 2 but I vividly remember watching a guy snorting coke from a woman's tits in that movie, or might be the first Robocop but I fucking remember that and I haven't seen that movie in almost two decades.
>>
>>79081736
When I was in a dance class when I was a child and at the end of every semester we would watch a horror movie, The movies I recall seeing were Child's Play, Child's Play 2, and Alien, our parents didn't give a shit.

In 6th grade in my computer class at the end of our school year we watched Hellraiser, we were suppose to watch a Disney movie but the teacher fucked up and they left before the movie started playing and they came back like 10 minutes after the movie ended and no one said anything, I don't think the school found out either.

That was a gag page with Deadpool and Cap playing the roles of Goofus and Gallant.

>Deadpool punched wolverine's innocent girlfriend in the face to get him to fight.

That was Kitty Pryde, she was being annoying so it was perfectly acceptable for him to do it.

>Deadpool is an entertaining and unpredictable dick.

Good parents take their kids to see mature movies anyway. There's no proof adult content fucks a kid up. My dad made me watch Heavy Metal with him when I was 6 among other mature movies/tv, aside from being a slight oddball, it didn't make me nuts. I drew the line at Fritz the Cat though... shit dad, I'm a grill, this is getting a bit weird.

Yeah really. I was pretty durable with scary content, and only suddenly got scared after seeing a horror movie when I'd go to the bathroom... you're all alone, some crazy shit may come out of the pipes and murder you!

It is pretty odd watching rated R sexual content with parents though. Much older in this case, I'm just glad that I suggested my parents watch Quills and that they did it while I was not around.

Honestly it always fucking depends on the writer how Deadpool's personality is.

Kelly made him into a extremely fucked up individual who has done extremely fucked up things for money or out of his need for companionship (like hold Blind Al as a hostage while torturing her for fun all which ended in the most fucked up Stockholm syndrome type of relationship) but he falls in love with Syrin and wants to be worthy of her so at some point he really tries to be a good guy but he end sup constantly getting shat on so much he pretty much gives up.

Simone's version of Deadpool was a mercenary with a heart of gold, killed for money but had certain rules of conduct. He also cared about his secretary Sandi enough to go and beat up her abusive boyfriend.

Nicieza's (post Liefeld at least) and Duggan's versions are pretty much Deadpool trying to be a good guy and a hero but his brain is so fucked up sometimes he slips and suffers for it, but he tries.

Daniel Way's is just some idiot meme dude who kills people and does lol so random shit, and loves being violent.

However Deadpool has a no killing kids rule and this is something that carries throughout his character with different writers, although Daniel Way had him threaten a kid with a gun and put the kid's life in danger for reason I don't remember because I purged most Waypool shit out of my mind.

Film studios were well aware who was going to watch their movie, but because of the MPAA they had to label their movies a certain way. Back then MPAA ratings didn't fracture audiences as much as they do today, so a studio could produce something with an R rating, know kids are going to watch it and not care, and release a toy line becuase FUCK THE MOVIE POLICE.

Nowadays ratings are a serious barrier to revenue and studios will do whatever it takes to bring the rating down and get a bigger profit, from limiting the script to cutting out scenes (nowadays only to put them into the "Limited edition Blu-ray collecter's version!")
>>
>>79087367
And movies seem to become increasingly tamer as a result, with the decisions on what to allow and what to cut getting weirder and weirder.
>>
>>79086937
>>79087014
>>79086937

I've been a horror movie fan since I was a kid and I had a fascination with Werewolves all which I think started because my dad forced me to go into a Horror House at a carnival and to show me that the creatures were fake he grabbed me by my arm and shoved my tiny 4 year old arm into the mouth of a fake plastic Werewolf just to show me it wasn't biting me, it was traumatic for the first minute but it made me not be afraid of everything (and I should tell you guys what he did to take the fear of Satan out of me that my bible school imposed on me).

I got so much into Werewolves that I would makde my mom watch the Werewolf TV series with me which she hated and she only complied because I really loved that show even if it scared me and it was better than having me cried about it every night. At some point I even watched the Howling and An American Werewolf in London but those happened because my parents didn't regulate my TV viewing and DGAF about what I was watching as long as it wasn't porn so I got to watch a lot of horror movies and shows and movies not intended for kids.

Also my father would tell me not to talk to stranger because they could be Werewolves in disguise and I wouldn't know until they would take me to their lair and transform at night to eat me, it was a good strategy to keep me away from pedos. And then every time I would go outside of the house and he knew I was unsupervised he would just stick his head outside the window and shout "Werewolf! Werewolf!" and I would run inside.

Blame Janet Jackson. Ever since her "wardrobe malfunction" got all the puritans panties in a bunch, media producers including movie studios started being a lot more cautious. If you look movies pre-2004, you'll notice that a lot of PG-13 films had stuff that would make them R nowadays.
