Good evening owls of /co/,
We were going to read the second Citizen V mini but fuck it, it's Zemo time
>>79078870
that's an oddly sexy cover
>>79078870
(back in 15, meanwhile, this got me kind of annoyed today):

Hello Storyteller.
Zemo, you will never be a male model. Stop deluding yourself, dude.
>>79079010
>>79078886
he came by that (stolen) body honestly!
dat ass, but he hasn't forgotten how she beat him
>>79078895
did that guy just compare liking the Punisher to seeing the Saw movies as cathartic? oh fuck that.
>>79079339
His argument is that people like shit for reasons that often are not immediately obvious from prominent aspects of the shit itself, and also that it's probably not very useful to then slag on people who like something due to how other people who like it view and use it.
>>79078895
In don't understand what he's bitching about.
Also, the word 'ultimatum' has been forever tainted in the context of Marvel comics.
>>79079414
That's fair! I suppose my beef is more with the other parties in that conversation who apparently can't separate their own politics and think about WHY other people might like a thing.
>>79079455
>>79079473
He's not bitching so much as the person downthread who's all "Fuck everything Punisher because it's politically tainted" is making me roll my eyes; sorry I wasn't clearer
FIXERRRRR
>>79079473
>>79079494
Maybe this new age of "everything is politics, and politics is everything" is a toxic form of post-modernism? If so, can we go back to the age of post-modernism where everyone fancied themselves an expert critic? I'm really starting to miss that.
>>79079494
that person did explain one of the reasons my favorite punisher is Frank as serial killer.and why i'm worried how that'll go on Daredevil with torture happy Daredevil
>>79079626
If you're ever in the mood for the kind of srs bzns scholarship people don't seem to get the time to produce these days, and you don't mind being horribly depressed, this echos:

>>79079494
Yeah, that whole bit was really lame.
Good news though.
Finishing storytiming all of Flaming Carrot.
So...Quantum and Woody starts TOMORROW
>>79078870
Nice ass.
>>79079669
Hold on. COunter-Earth Iron Cross is Zemo? I thought he was the alternate V-Battalion Helmut. Well played, Nicieza.
I kinda want the Counter-Zemo to be awake in there and arguing with baseline Zemo.
>>79079669
reminder that Helmut is weak to children
>>79079664
Right, I am hoping they don't go anywhere near Edmondson's Punisher with its "YAY MILITARY WOOO" vibe
>>79079834
Oh Atlas, you poor thing
His character flaws are very well placed
>>79079856

>>79079834
I am really curious what Cloonan's Punisher will be like

>>79079958
oh that's right, Dillon's on art isn't he
that man really loves his FRANK
>>79079958
more of dat. ass.
>>79078895
>American Sniper
What you mean the movie that shows the fact that war fucks people up and forces them to make horrible moral decisions that lead to PTSD issues? That's not the kind of cathartic violence porn I think he's trying to make reference to.
Same deal with good Punisher stories. Frank is a fucked-up guy, and the best versions of his character don't shy away from that fact that NORMAL people don't go around thinking of executing criminals as their job.
>>79080014
I haven't seen it, I just remember Ales Kot got into it with Gerads over the film, too, so there's some framing of the film as a politically undesirable thing, etc. I totally agree with you about good Punisher stories.
>>79079901
According to Steve Dillion is really violent and a great action comic

Flying cities are damn cool, but as a feat of engineering, they're utterly ridiculous. The sheer logistics alone, never mind the actual construction and necessary materials.

Huh.
>>79080076
My cousin is a former sargeant and he loves to watch all of those war focused movies.
His assertion?
"It was alright"
>>79080076
so when are these two going to fuck already
OH, so I went and downloaded some of Avengers Undercover
what a waste of Kev Walker, holy shit
>>79080081
Attilan is 100% vintage Inhumans bullshit Kree science
>>79080076
I feel like the people who shit on American Sniper haven't seen it. It very much treats the IDEAL of a soldier with respect, but it is very un-glamorous in how it shows the action of war itself.
>>79080120
Some also felt it a waste of Arcade as well
>>79080139
Yeah. I definitely agree.
Eastwood's best has to be Letters From Iwo Jima though.
Like niagara falls.
>>79080245
this is surely going to end well
Also, so, no spoilers, but I think we'll find Ellis in some ways makes more sense after we actually get to what leads into it
I couldn't sleep last night so I read some comics
>>79080243
I saw Letters From Iwo Jima with my parents and me and my mom were both pretty weepy throughout large portions of it.
And I completely forgot that Eastwood directed it.
>>79080076
>>79080120
>Attilan is 100% vintage Inhumans bullshit Kree science
The fact it's built into a huge chunk of rock makes it even more absurd. Way to add dead weight, idiots.
Also, I would LOVE to find out how they keep people from falling off while in flight. A chain link fence?
>>79080277
The last 30 minutes is nothing but catharsis.

stupid sexy tsundere zemo
>>79080276
>I couldn't sleep last night so I read some comics
For some reason, reading has the opposite effect on me when I can't get to sleep. The action of getting into a story or a line of reasoning in a book puts my brain further into awake mode.
>>79080323
He does!
it's kind of frustrating to watch writers backslide with him, but such is the fate of villains who get more complex, except for Doom, I guess

>>79080355

Or someone like Black Adam, where one writer handles the majority of the character's main stories for a long stretch of time.

BULLSHIT. Someone check Fixer for parasites or something. He just said something sensible!
>>79080353
Same here.
But not movies.
I can't watch something to stay awake for the life of me.
>>79080383
FabNic here owned Zemo for a long time (as we see) and did a lot with him...and then, well, a lot of it seems to have been at least partially undone. Black Adam seems to have escaped that, he was fun in Smugnestro (which I am behind on)
>>79080377
>I will not bore you with my 100% justified hateboner for Mother Teresa, I will just say it exists.
What, the movie? I saw like one ad for that, only for it to disappear.
>>79080425
Yeah that's what I ACTUALLY do if I'm having trouble falling asleep. Dial up something on YouTube.
Also finding a podcast or talk radio channel and turning it down really, really low so I can't really make out what they're saying. Just having that white noise in the background helps a lot.I have anxiety problems, so trying to figure out how to shut off my brain and actually get some fucking sleep without medication has been an ongoing experiment
So where are all the inhumans?
>>79080434
Gosh, I miss our dysfunctional family. Cagebolts really was good, but these guys together have the real family feel
>>79080462
no, the person
>>79080462
It's probably getting a limited release, so they're not marketing it a lot in wider national ad campaigns

>>79080814
I read a Marvel Knights Spider-Man tpb. I liked it pretty well.
>>79080852
A bigger part is segmenting the title.
>>79080854
the lettering boxes here are kind of unclear, the flow is not good--but it is a spread
>>79080875
Marvel Knights F4 is really good

I know I should be amused by him trying not to enjoy being a good guy, but goddamn you're supposed to do the first experiment in a controlled environment, then move it outdoors on a larger scale.
Someone's posting set pics from the Wonder Woman movie and I'm actually really excited that it's a WWI period piece. Seems like a point in history that isn't explored too often by superhero stories.
>>79080583
>Nobody really went for Meteorite

There are limits to being mean FabNic.

>>79080922
dese flashbacks
>>79081018
so what's actually happened in Lemire Hawkeye past and present?
>>79080827
It looks like the logo for some shitty semi-obscure 90s cartoon.
>>79080905
>>79080922
I will never understand this shit here.
Why have the panel lines when it's all one image like that? All that does is clutter the page.
>>79080960
I don't think WWI is explored much on film period
>>79081055
>Why have the panel lines when it's all one image like that? All that does is clutter the page.
I like it when artists and writers do the trick of having the panel lines cut across a single, static background shot, but have the characters do different things in each panel. It's a neat way of showing progression of time in a scene.
But yeah that's a dumb way of chunking up the page.
>>79080681
Didn't Austen right about finding kids that died in a fire in JLA?
Wally's story I think. It was one of his better arcs, dealt with all the various stresses a Superhero has to deal with.
>>79081055
I think it's because of the lettering, it's trying to guide you to read the boxes in the right order
>>79081073
I heard it described once as "the war that everyone lost" and I think it's hard for writers to handle that in a way that doesn't make everything oppressively bleak.
>>79081127
Zirch is usually a good artist to look at for clear storytelling and good panel composition, to be fair
>>79080960
Its not really explored by much entertainment media, mostly because its a very, very depressing period for... Just about everyone involved. And because its overshadowed by WWII.
>>79080960
>>79081073
A shame this rare look at WWI won't be done with any decent talent.
Why did anyone want a Wonder Woman movie so badly again? Exactly this was bound to happen.
>>79081165
>>79081152
It also originates in murk and tension that's so much more ambiguous than the Nazi invasions. Balkan politics, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, alliances, etc.
>>79080827
Marvel what are you doing? The O Bolt was fucking perfect.
>>79081221
I don't know, it's a boneheaded decision
the Bolts logo needs no changes
I wonder if they'll capitalize on WW1 by having Ares or whoever pulling strings in all the alliances
>>79081073
I'm only aware of the Chaplain flicks that took the piss out of how absolutely wet everyone and the early parts of The Great Dictator.
>>79081393
i'd be surprised if that's NOT the direction they take it in.
Again, considering that it's based in WORLD WAR ONE, that's perfect excuse for saying that Ares is pulling shit behind the scenes, or the conflict is giving him enough power to take over the world, or something like that.
>>79081364
>textile telekinetic
.... Seriously?
Okay, so has any writer gotten a hold of Gypsy Moth and given her Read or Die style power levels?
>>79081393
I'd be surprised if they didn't do that.
WWI was pretty complicated and depressing and it would be very difficult to sum up the entire war in addition to the modern day stuff.
Just saying "an evil god capable of causing war" makes it much more simple.
>>79081435
The Great Dictator is a masterpiece

>>79082449
Call their HR department first thing in the morning. The only way I was able to get in volunteering and shadowing people at my local hospital when I was looking to get into a medical field, was when I cut the bullshit and talked to someone personallyand pulled a couple strings because my mom was an RN who was on first-name basis with a lot of the staff

>we're here for you to vent to, anon. wish I could bring you home-cooked food.I was promised a really robust program for helping first-year teachers when I moved down here and I haven't gotten jack shit in training so far, not to mention that EVERYONE admits that this is a really tough county and school district to teach in. It's stressful as fuck and I'm so overwhelmed by the position that it's tough to get everything done and keep up with the paperwork in addition to grading and lesson planning
So if you ever hear people complaining about the state of our schools in America or the shortage of teachers, I know exactly fucking why it's like that. Nobody wants to be a teacher because your first couple years are hell and it burns almost everyone out.
>>79082570
C'mon Hallie, what's one more nuke?

>>79082625
>So if you ever hear people complaining about the state of our schools in America or the shortage of teachers
mostly in regards to the school system I hear people complaining that teachers have it too easy and they shouldn't strike for higher wages because they don't work for three months of the year
so yeah I presume nobody wants to be a teacher because it's also basically a thankless job
>>79082696

This plot point is seriously taking the piss.
>>79082696
>Now that's bullshit. Is there anywhere else you can reapply to/switch to, that is more likely to give you the support you need?
I'm getting support now because the other teachers I'm working with are great and have helped out a lot with mentoring me, but I'm getting zero help from administration or the county, and I'm basically working from the ground-up in terms of funds and savings. I'm going to stick it out through this year, then try to get my ducks in a row to give it a shot next year once I have a better handle on classroom management, but I feel like I'm getting punished for being a greenhorn when the standardized testing comes around and my kids aren't up to snuff because I'm inexperienced and still trying to figure out how to teach and manage a class effectively.

It's just kind of weird that, you know, that actually worked. Usually you expect to hear that incident to be brought up dozens of times after or at least Melissa to think that Karla swooped in and stole him, especially since it's the same writer. Here, if you skipped this one issue it never would've been one.

We storytimed a mini where Dillon did the art on the one featuring Karate Kid. It was kind of funny, it was from the era when Dillon was still evolving to the force of Frank we know and love today, so in the beginning Karate Kid actually looked normal and happy, then when shit went down he went full FRANK.
The shirt's an edit, the face is not.
