Having Leia and Yoda in Rebels, seems to screw up the timeline of the canon. Not that it ever made a ton of sense, but Rebels seems too recent to New Hope now.

Do explain how you think this is happening.

I don't mind it. It's nice to know Yoda was doing something in all his time in exile. The Empire will logically not just hunt Jedi but anyone else with the Force. It's good to know Yoda is reaching out with his mind across the galaxy and trying to help where he can.

As for Leia, of course as she grew up she began helping her father in his work with the Rebellion. If she wasn't directly aiding the cause she was on missions of mercy to ease those suffering under Imperial rule, and sometimes using official missions of the latter as an excuse for the former.

Do we have any backstory information on Sabine yet? Or the condition of Mandalore since TCW for that matter?

>don't like a strong empowered young woman who doesn't need her hand held?
Chick that spent her entire life on a fucking desert planet because she was waiting for her parents to come back.
Chick that was totally flashed after a dude she just met asked if she was okay.
Chick that almost started to cry when told that 'we came back for you'.
>strong and empowered

right...

Would you call an orphan that survived on it's own on shitty work and living in abysmal conditions also strong and empowered?
Some people throw their brains away in pursuit of some political agenda instead of enjoying a piece of entertainment for what it is.

It's coming up in the latter half of season 2. You can see some Mandalorian action via the trailer found in the OP.

There's also some small hints in upcoming episode titles but I don't have any of those handy at the moment.

Yeah, they're sticking to it. Filoni's explanation is that we're seeing Yoda through the filter of Ezra's imagination and this is how he's imagining him. It's a weak excuse though, and I think this one is taking his devotion to the McQuarrie style a little to far.

I don't get how that even happened, the old Yoda toy looks pretty accurate compared to the on-screen puppet. The one in Rebels looks like... I don't even know where to begin.
>>
>>79073928
ANH Ben was an old man who knew his time was nearly over. I wouldn't mind him being shown to have one adventure before ANH where he gets to settle his old business with Maul.

And in some ways it makes sense. Bail knows where Obi-Wan has gone and why. It would make sense that he'd try to recruit a Jedi Master as the rebellion, not yet the Alliance, starts to heat up. Of course Obi-Wan will turn it down in the end, even if he helps them briefly. The Death Star was such a big deal that the message was pretty much, "There's no more time, help now or never."

It does raise some curious possibilities. If you're Bail would you just want Obi-Wan to get his ass to Alderaan with Luke and train both kids? Thanks to Uncle Owen that's impossible, but as someone risking his own safety and his daughters, his world, isn't that something you'd consider?
>>
>>79073928
Yep, it looks like they called it a night when they made his model. He's even wearing a different outfit that doesn't resemble his TCW or RotS look.

>>79074071
I think one of the problems is that he looks to big. He kinda reminds me of an old man wearing a Yoda costume.

That's not a horrible excuse, as such. I can see that being the truth given Ezra's training is still early and frankly projecting messages through the Force has never been shown to this extent either. It's probably a version of the ghost training Yoda is undergoing. Projecting his consciousness through the Force while still alive would certainly be good practice for doing it once he's dead.

But it will definitely come off clumsy in the show since that's a creator hand-wave explanation that I can't see them working into the actual episode without it seeming forced.

No pun intended.

>>
>>79074324
>>79074547
I think you are onto something.
Aside from the head looking rounder the face looks gaunter, cause he doesn't have the same kind of cheeks and his ears are smaller too.
All things together kind of move him closer to 'old human male' proportions instead of being alien. Makes him quite a bit more uncanny valley.
>>
>>79074656
Yeah, there's a definite oversimplification to the lines on his face.

>>79074669
The ears thing I believe is a Prequels era thing. I'm probably misremembering some of this but when they went to CGI to puppet they changed some of his design. There was some controversy over, what was it, Yoda's feet? They also changed his ears a bit.

It's one of those things where since they were updating him Lucas ordered some cosmetic changes.
>>
>>79074868
>There was some controversy over, what was it, Yoda's feet?
Yeah, in some version he's got bird feet with a toe facing backwards and in some he doesn't.
I think the version in EpIII where he's twirling around the air, while fighting Dooku is probably canon now.

Funny thing is we also don't know anything about Yoda's race aside from it being called Yoda's race and there being another Jedi Council member in Kotor called Yaddel iirc.
He's the original unique snowflake.

Maz Kantana was supposed to be a Yoda like mentor figure, but she just shows up to serve drinks and look concerned in the finished film.

I wish they'd left in more of Maz, and at least give her a bigger role in the later films. She's arguably the most helpful person to Rey.

I mean after Finn is wounded Kylo Ren seems to struggle with the lightsaber which instead flies to the person it's been calling to earlier. Rey gets into a half-hearted combat stance and ignites the saber, then ends up in a constant retreat when fighting Kylo Ren until her back is to a cliff. When he tells Rey she needs training, someone to show her the ways of the Force, Rey suddenly mouths "The Force." She closes her eyes just as Maz told her to and after several seconds manages to connect with the Force. Definitely the deciding moment of the movie as far as Rey is concerned. After that Rey doesn't fight with much flair, no fancy movies, but she's definitely sensing Ren's attacks before he makes them and either blocking, dodging or counter-attacking until he's down. There's no real finesse, only raw Force. Too rough to rely on forever, definitely in need of actual training.

The connection between Rey and Maz is there but it's still a bit subtle. Some people aren't making any connection between the two moments. I missed Rey repeating "The Force" before she closed her eyes the first time I watched it. This seems to be Rey's, "Use the Force, Luke," moment but they didn't want to actually have Maz's voiceover. Understandable or people might assume she died since they cut her appearance at the Resistance base.

Considering Rey has Luke now I wonder what they'll do with Maz.

Why do people like CGI Wars?

It's completely out of place and tone with ROTS and makes no sense, the original series made more sense and continuity. Plus it didn't have dumb shit like Force gods and Maul coming back or that they fought Grievous then though ROTS makes it clear that it was the first time they ever even saw him up close.

I wonder if it's possible Luke says, "Thanks for the saber, now GTFO."

Maz knows the Force but not from the Jedi perspective. Meanwhile Luke is apparently trying to find the first Jedi Temple, which suggests...what? Going back to a purer form or understanding of the Jedi? Something from before the wars with the Sith changed them? Something that maybe explores the schism that lead some Jedi to become the Sith?

Those could be interesting but I'm not sure how you'd make a movie out of them, unless Kylo Ren and/or Snoke are actually interested in unearthing ancient Sith secrets and restore them as well?

Hell, I've got no clues. Spinning the dark guessing and not accomplishing a damn thing.

Yeah, I don't know what more there is to do with Maz. She's kind of a superfluous character. Now that Luke's in the picture he fits the wise mentor role, and if they need an old and wiser one they can just have Yoda's spirit appear. So what can they even do with Maz that isn't already covered by other, more established characters?

Everything has good and bad points. I can appreciate both.

One thing I love in TCWs is the near running gag that Anakin never actually runs into Grievous personally even though Obi-Wan and his own Padawan have had dealings with the general. This turns into a full blown joke during the unfinished Utapau episodes when Obi-Wan ends up captured by Grievous after landing on his ship while Anakin lands on a perfectly safe area with no one around him. Then while the two are using a giant kyber crystal that produces mini-Death Star style blasts to shoot THROUGH the walls of Grievous' ship for a quick escape Anakin rushes near Grievous without spotting him but Obi-Wan gives the general a cheeky little wave.

Shit was cash.

So, the green crossguard lightsaber in the trailer. We were told that Kylo's was poorly built, and required the quillions to stabilize the energy produced from the cracked crystal.

Is it likely that this was the case for this new iteration of the lightsabers of the Old Republic? In that the more contemporary single bladed hilts we have now are actually a relatively recent development in lightsaber design and that the old crossguard was due to a lack of efficient power regulation for stable crystals?

All because they were only briefly obscured by a wall of smoke from the aforementioned blast

There was also a moment in the episodes prior where Obi-Wan and Anakin were being chased by Grievous through an Utapau cave network while hauling the giant crystal aboard a hoversled. Anakin was driving the sled while Obi-Wan was bringing up the rear, defending against Grievous and his MagnaGuards. The only thing preventing Anakin from getting a quick look at Grievous was Obi-Wan's shuffling from side to side in covering his blind spots

Fucking genius
>>

you misunderstood, the quillions were need to stabalize the sabre, not because of the crack crystal, but because that's the way the sabre was designed.

So supposedly, as opposed to the cabled protosabers of the EU, we get crossguards. That or the crossguard evolves from the protosaber as the Jedi look to invest in less glaring design flaws. Pretty damn bad with some tolerable moments, mostly some of the vague information on what the Republic is doing in it's formative days after Endor. However most of the book is a random bullshit adventure that doesn't really matter and few care about.

And yeah so far he still has a job finishing this trilogy.
>>
>>79076725

It's pretty bad. It's not "FULL SJW GAY PANDERING" like people keep saying, but the writing feels like it was done by a 15 year old. He also tries way too hard to make it feel like Star Wars by throwing in too many references.

It's like if you ever read a story where one character is from Texas and every other thing he says is "why that's as big as a Texas longhorn" or "squished 'em like an armadillo outside Amarillo" or "boy howdy I bet Sam Houston himself couldn't find a twister bigger than that one!" and just needlessly bludgeoning you over the head with the fact that this character is from Texas? Imagine the entire book being that, except Star Wars. The narrative is just obsessively trying to remind you that it's Star Wars.

>le funny loud black woman meme

>>
>>79076675
I love both, but they're very different. Star Trek is for people who want actual science fiction, philosophy, politics, etc. It's got action and adventure, but it's more about the characters themselves and thoughtful storytelling. Star Wars is much more fantastical and bombastic.
>>
>>79076707
This is how you spot a underage poster.
>>
>>79076725
It's pretty bad. The writing style is awful since it's all in present tense for some reason and riddled with sentence fragments, and none of the characters are likable. We also keep getting flashes to other unrelated characters whose stories go absolutely nowhere.
>>
>>79076928
This is why Star Trek had a longstanding ban against having fans write the shows throughout the 1990s. And when I say fans, I mean people who are really devoted, not the folks who just watch the show, the ones who investigate every edge of it.

>>
>>79076675
Star Wars is much more all-encompassing, covering a wide range of subjects of genres, with myth, legend and folklore as a driving force and light sci-fi as a backdrop. It has the potential to power and renew itself with the broad array of ground it can cover, keeping up with the times by blending the contemporary and the historical, making it much more organic compared to Star Trek.

Star Trek limits itself to being relatively hard sci-fi, injecting philosophical and social commentary to make up for the human element. While it does have its appeal, it's very niche as a result of defining and pigeonholing itself into its strengths. In addition, it attempts to create a concrete, perfect future world that might one day exist, but fails at making it tangible and dare I say relatable since its narratives focus only on the crew of some ship or other without really going out to develop the universe from the ground up.
>>
>>79076725
What's funny about the author is how he was defending his writing style saying "this is how *I* write, and I won't let anyone else tell me what is right" and "I'd rather write a book in my own style than the style people say is correct".

That's like taking a shit on a plate and calling it a steak dinner, and when he's yelled at, he says "this is the steak *I* want to make and you can't tell me otherwise." It's a bullshit self-serving way of thinking.
>>
>>79076725
Garbage. The worst thing to happen to Star Wars since Karen Traviss and from a technical standpoint the worst book I've ever read in my entire life. It is very, very badly written. It should never have made it to print.
>>
>>79076783
>Its surprisingly tolerable if you listen to the audiobook.

I have not read it, but after reading what defenders say the reason seems to be because it written more like a script than a book.

Problem with that is, when you're commissioned to write a book... you're supposed to write a damn book.
>>
>>79077023
I like plenty of slow paced TV but when its paired with horrible aesthetics, effects, dicey acting and corny dialog I switch off.
>>
>>79077194
Pretty much. It works in the audiobook because the style lends itself well to the format of a radio play, and the guy reading it takes full advantage of it.

That said, the audiobook improves the experience but it doesn't change the fact that this is poorly written or that the author has no idea how to build an actual story or develop characters. It's just much better than reading it.

You're wrong about it not being SJW pandering trash. There are multiple gay characters thrown about for no other reason than to mention that people in Star Wars can be gay and for the author to go "Look at me Tumblr, I'm so progressive like all of you! Now protect me from all the legitimate criticism about my shit writing on social media by calling the critics hateful bigots!". Which is exactly what he did. And has decided to double down on it for the sequel by forcing the story to focus on homosexuality as an issue in galactic politics. It's pure cancer and needs to be stopped.

Same reason why the Japanese eschewed Empire, military power, and violence following World War II

The Mandalorians warred so much to the point of their nearly wiping themselves out, which is why Mandalore's surface is bleak and sunbleached safe for the living domes. Satine's faction eventually rose from the ashes of these wars to prompt a change in thinking lest the Mandalorian people completely wipe themselves out of the history books, and thus worked to create a new, peaceful society where people could thrive without having to fight, while exiling the warrior sects to Concordia.

The warriors didn't like this, believing Satine to have sullied the traditional name "Mandalorian", and fought to bring down Satine's rule for a return to old traditions and values while using the backdrop of the galactic Clone Wars as a rationale. This indeed works for a while following Maul and Deathwatch's coup in Season 5, which unfortunately culminated in the Republic invasion and apparent occupation of Mandalore, whose aftermath and result we'll likely be seeing in the second half of Rebels Season 2 with the introduction of the Mandalorian Protectors

I'm mostly doing it because the Battle of Muunilinst was perhaps the best part of Genndy Wars, and with how Filoni Wars essentially remade Genndy's Battle of Mon Calamari, I'd do the same with Muunilinst. Probably won't feature Obi-Wan and Anakin like in Genndy Wars, but rather OCs if only to show that there were more Jedi and clone units active during the war than just the few we see in TCW

I like Starkiller. Thought Witwer handled the character very well and made him a likable person over the course of the game. Even if his role in the game is... eugh. I'd love to see him get recanonized as long as they rework the events of the game.

I wonder how viewed the OT is by the younger fans. Until recently it seemed like the cartoons and maybe Prequel movies were the most viewed, but with the sudden rise of Star Wars fever over the last few years I wonder how much this has changed.

The toy sales sadly aren't much of an indicator given there's no way to distinguish between no interest in, say, Luke sales versus or people not buying a figure they already have.

Might be interesting, I also thought the Battle of Muunilinst was the best part of that and I was hoping it would be re-introduced into TCW at some point.

Also I still want to know exactly where San Hill fits into the heirarchy since he's apparently not the actual leader of the IBC

The Force powers were absolutely crazy stupid, but if you're playing a game called The Force Unleashed you don't mind when it has crazy stupid Force powers. That's the fun, after all.

If my experiences are any indication, they think it's just another awesome movie with awesome characters.

My cousins like Luke a lot, but they also like Anakin, Ewan Obi-Wan, Dooku, etc...

My female cousins really love Ahsoka.

No kids have ever liked the prequels. Stop making shit up.

Rework how?
In my personal opinion it, he shouldn't even be able to kill some of those Jedi, specifically Shaak Ti.
Or have been able to angle the Star Destroyer down.
Or have gone 1v1 against Sidious.

Kylo REEEEEEEE
>>
>>79078232
Why are they making Kylo a joke? Are they setting up his turn to the Light Side?
>>
>>79078242
The movie was great. Season 2 was good, but not that great.
>>
>>79078101
I think they should've expanded more on the other Leaders of the Separatist Council in TCW. They only did Poggle, Gunray and Tambor
>>
>>79078120
Nah, it's easy to look past as nothing more than a contained element of a video game. Fucking Kota summons a Force energy shield in his boss fight, Paratus can create junk golems all over Raxus' surface and Shaak Ti can manipulate a giant fucking saarlac. The whole game is supposed to be over-the-top for its own sake and I though it was a lot of fun. It just should never have been representative of actual events relating to canon, nor should any power levels presented in the game be taken into consideration by the rest of the universe.

Explain.
I mean I'm 90% sure this is bait, but even still I'm intrigued by the new direction being taken here.

Am I the only one who prefers the unofficial jedi-training? I really like the post-jedi purge society during the Empire era.
The fighting feels more intense and personal. I like seeing the jedis as wandering samurai rather than valiant paladins of a high-order comprised of tens of thousands.

Star Trek as it has become is full of nearly as much imaginary stuff as Star Wars.

Don't care, shits finally happening.

I hope they have Ezra beat Vader in a fight just cause of all the butt hurt it would cause.

Are you making fun of me because most star wars fans feel the same way I do probably?

I always thought of the jedi as rhonin travelling from planet to planet hiding in plain sight and only bringing out the saber when absolutely necessary.

>Nah
But...the post you replied to said what you did, only in less detail.

For what it's worth the Force can do a lot of those things but in limited circumstances. Talzin can manifest energy blades and blaster reflecting energy shields. Nightsisters can also animate corpses and create working cyborg parts out of junk that leak the same "gas" that empowered Savage Opress, and which he leaked from his wounds.

You can, through the Force, manipulate/command creatures although nothing thus far the size of a sarlacc. Oh and Savage Opress once utilized that AOE Repulse power against a bunch of attacking droids, though that's just a slight variation on the usual TK abilities.

This isn't in any way meant to justify TFU or it's depiction of events or even how the powers worked, just pointing out that we've seen examples or similar abilities with the Force, even if they aren't powers used by the Jedi or Sith. Nightsisters, for instance, utilize a lot of ritualistic "magic" with the Force, especially utilizing multiple sisters at the same time. The rituals are usually shown as pretty extreme uses of the Force, especially when they are ways for multiple users to join powers.

That and Talzin is pretty bullshit in her own right, but since she's nearly on or at Yoda and Sheev's level for her faction you kind of give her a pass. Some of her powers seemed more advanced than the crone who raised the undead.
