always great

Not a bad story for the time. It's not surprising it became popular

Thanks OP

No problem.

Should we just make this a superman thread while we're at it?
>>
>>79069388
Sure.
>>
>>79069388
What do you think of Superman's original abilities to the ones he has now?
>>
>>79068640

It's kind of interesting to see how differently his powers are portrayed here. Like that insert claims that EVERYONE on Krypton had super-strength, and no mention of solar radiation.

And that Krypton wasn't even named yet. And no word of Ma and Pa Kent.

Also the fact that Superman can't fly, and can still be hurt by a powerful enough projectile ("bursting shell"?)
>>
>>79068491
Fuck yeah time for Zatara

I really liked the golden age superman and his abilities.
It humanized him.
>>
>>79068796
>the American way

Not until the 50s tv show and the red scare.
>>
>>79068899

Remember when covers didn't lie?

I don't.
>>
Pretty bad desu

Is the new 52 good?

But I really like his silverage/precrisis powers. He's what we all aspire to be, he's the embodiment of truth and justice.

He has all those powers, but what does he decide to do? Save people.
>>
>>79070280
You should read it and find out.
>>
>>79069472
I liked the jump based power over the just flying. But I can see how it evolved over time.
>>
>>79069472
It was certainly a simpler, more palpable powerset. Not that I don't like Overpoweredman who does tackles ridiculous cosmic challenges sometimes.
>>
>>79068841
Damn, Clark used to be pretty beta
>>
I think it's always amazing to look at the first appearance of superheroes if only for how much they are a proto-version of what is to come

I still say that we need a Golden Age Superman ongoing. Just a really light set of stories all set in the same time period with Superman jumping around and performing amazing feats of strength. It's a shame the only time we ever got something like this was way back in the 40's with the Fleischer shorts
>>
>>79070653
>Damn, Clark used to be pretty beta
You do realize the irony in that statement, right?
>>
the theme already started playing in my head as soon as i saw the cover in the catalog
>>
>>79070866
Which one? Superman's got like 4 great themes
>>

>everything we know and love about superheroes
I thought you can't like capes on this board? Especially Marvel even if they're my favourite comic company and I like Bendis inside and outside of comics.
>>
>>79068669
superman did you just kidnap that woman
>>
>>79068757
Superman acted like batman in the early days, huh.

Are you for real or
>>

Grant Morrison's Action Comics is good. Pak's Superman is alright.
>>
>>79068992
>Superman is destined to reshape the destiny of a world!
Boy, if they only knew.
>>
>>79071138
Yeah Paktion has two main down-points: Doomed and the second Truth arc. It's been solid outside of that though (but I know some people don't like how he never really gets a clean win to enjoy).
>>
Where's the rest, I want Zatara
>>
Ay
>>
>>79071179
>Implying they didn't
They were Jews familia. It was all a part of their plan.
>>
>>79070880
>John Williams
>All-Star Superman
>Fleischer cartoons
>Adventures of Superman
>Superman TAS
>Lois & Clark: New Adventures of Superman
>Smallville

I count 7, 8 if the remixed Williams theme for the Ruby-Spears cartoon counts.
>>
>>79070844
That would be pretty great. Just Superman leaping over skyscrapers and stopping robberies.
>>
Thank you OP
>>
Pretty good. I've never been big on Superman but as I've gotten older I came to appreciate the character more.

Back then he was raised in an orphanage. It was the same in the old TV shows and serials.

It evolved when they came out with the cartoon and the animators insisted that showing him hopping around would look stupid.

Huh, funny that. When did the Kents get introduced?

Man that's embarrassing
>>
>>79072944
I think it's pretty well acknowledged that the Williams theme is the absolute top-tier
>>
>>79078661
"Mary Kent" is listed as Clark's adoptive mother in the 1939 Superman #1. The story of John and Martha finding Kal-El's ship first showed up in 1948's Superman #53
