I presume she didn't really think of it as anything too malicious, just Tom trying to get her attention in a way she knew he knew she liked. Star's ability to think ahead of time is severely lacking, that's what Marco's for, hence his bad feeling about the whole thing. Star felt she would be able to handle herself regardless of any potential plots, which I suppose only she can make the call at the end of the day.

Well, I deleted that last one because I felt it was bad. Too dramatic, lack of detail, etc. I usually write short stories, so I try to get the perfect set of words so that everything is used and nothing is wasted or unnecessary (authors like Borges and Joyce inspired me). Well perhaps the trick is start small, feel out writing for Star vs. through some good old green texts. Anons are always happy to offer some prompts if you're struggling a bit for conclusive ideas. But I imagine they're an easy way to steadily increase word count to prompt ratios. I mean, RedHoodie's 3 part green last thread is a prime example of the value you can get from short stories.

Interestingly enough the talk of Hope and Sabrina actually lead to some of the interesting ideas around characters and their supporting cast. I feel Sabrina and Hope really fit into that supporting cast territory. I'd say they would work great as friend for Star, Marco and any of the other relevant secondary characters, but nothing more than that.

Yeah, don't be afraid to make use of character frameworks from other stories. Considering Marco and Star are going to be based on what we've seen in the show, the secondary characters have more variety in what they could be like. So search around and find an interpretation you like and go from there. There's a great Manna story that has Street Lights in the name or somerthing like that which has an amazing interpretation of her character. Jackie stories are harder to find, but some solid interpretations of her potential as a character do exist.
But hey, do your own thing first and foremost.

Agreed, but I read it in a sort of mathematical way. 2 alone is 2, which is sacrificing her wand, but combined with eight, eighteen, and four, it's thirty-two. That is to say that for a friend Star would indeed sacrifice her wand, but combined with all those other things it implies that this means more.
Which isn't to say that these all add up to Starco. It means, to me, that their relationship would be more precious than just friendship. Does that make sense?

I am calm, just seem to see a lot of people say "I prefer to see them stay as friends" because they're afraid it will change the dynamic. Even my mother once told me that when you pursue a relationship, and it doesn't work out, it could ruin the friendship forever. I find that- unsettling that many people have this mentality. Well this is a point I've brought up a number of times in regards to the whole Mope, Sabco thing in that their place as background characters who aren't really involved with the main cast makes any form of actual shipping hard; given the impact it would have on the actual secondary castor at least the threads interpretations of them.
That's why I see Mope and Sabcro really only working as a friendship thing, the default option of Starco or Manna just works a bit better given what we know from the show and how we've built up Janna. There's every chance that Janna turns out completely different to what we imagined, and then it's clear sailing to port Starco.

In my stories, I always censor swearwords — in a way to mimic the actual series.
To me, the in-series Marco is kind of socially clumsy: he is clearly no pariah, but at the same time, he's probably more introverted than not.
The small clique he formed with Ferguson and Alfonzo probably kept him from having a wider number of closer friends, in school — and if I had to guess, he probably always thought of the exchange students his family hosted as his temporary besties anyway.
So, if I had to guess, his classmates think of Marco as an OK guy, maybe veering on the side of dorky, with the main lasting impression of him being the "safe kid" — which can either being seen as a quality, or a embarrassing flaw.

I think he'd leave more of an impression on people, but not an overly strong one considering they likely haven't seen the side of him that Star brings out. That's one of the big draws of the show to me, in that it's showing characters not only develop, but gradually indoctrinate those changes as their new norm.
Speaking from past experiences with people similar to Marco, that being: smart, orderly, low-risk takers who try their best to help people out. They are usually held in good regards with most people they interact with, but they're an acquaintance, someone who if you were asked about you'd say 'Yeah, real nice guy that x' and not much more.
Considering he seems fine with his social standing, being buds with Alfonso and Ferguson, that's a pretty good place for a character to be as it leaves a good deal of room for development. If he moves past his spaghetti ways I'm sure he'd be pretty popular, and Star's the perfect role model in that regard.

I certainly hope so, there's a balance to be had with random adventures into more serious episodes. Don't think many shows if any have found that balance, so I'm not sure we'll find it here. However, given the nature of the show I think it should be fine having the adventure of the day one episode and something more complex the next.
What I'd like to see is a more consistent mix of earth adventures to inter dimensional ones. That would allow for character development and the exploration of the cool magical setting of the show. So more episodes that mix the two of those concepts, such as IDFT, would be amazing.

What's really noticeable (to me) about IDFT is that it was, for most of Marco's friends (apart from Al and Ferg) their first foray in what is normal for Star and Marco. And ooooh boy, were they NOT prepared for that!
Apart from Ms Skullnick, of course: she could actually fare even better than the two main characters — at least on the subject of fighting monsters and taking names.
I would like for more side characters actively sharing some adventures with Star and Marco, in S2.

I don't really have any definite guesses yet beyond obvious stuff like problems with Star's wand, return of the major villains, and the appearance of the "spades" character (waiting for some sort of promo before I really go crazy with speculation). Actually if Toffee is really just fucking dead and we went back to more one-off monster fights I'd be pissed, but even the crew has made it obvious that plotline's not over yet.
But it might be fun to see how the typical dynamic of the show has changed, with Buff Frog being confirmed as a recurring character and likely ally, and Ludo probably still hanging around but with no power, resources, or dignity. And just more Star/Marco interactions with the side characters in general.
I think the show is going to get more serious and develop more lore, but, like the first season, doing it in a pretty low-key way that builds up to something bigger by the end. My hopes are pretty high for it being better than 1.

Yeah that stuck out to me as well. What I found amusing was how much worse they fared in the face of it all in comparison to Marco who just rolls with it for the most part. One interesting thing about the episode is that whilst it was the first real forrey into Star's magical adventure with the class, it didn't involve the dynamic duo at all until the end. That's going to be the big one for me, I'd love to see how secondary characters react a full blown adventure with the dynamic duo leading.
