depends on the theater. most theaters won't let 13-17 year olds go into R rated films without a parent and restrict anyone under 13 from entering all together even with a guardian.
This is one of those cases where people take a property that appeals to youngsters and "making it R-Rated" would probably eliminate most of the fans from seeing this film.

I miss old TV edits. Nowadays they just cut out the audio or remove the scene altogether (if it's something like a gesture, it can get blurred). It's no fun. The best part of watching TV edits was the weird new words and phrases they'd make up to replace swearwords and other things.

It pretty much boils down to Deadpool being in more and more Marvel cartoons that are clearly PG to PG-13. When they see him in a cartoon they go "Oh hey its that guy who says funny stuff and shoots guns but doesn't kill!"
Then they read the Deadpool comics and get an entirely new experience like "Whoa I didn't know this dude was a badass fucking killing people and being gorey".
Granted there are PGish Deadpool comics out there, especially when he teams up with tame characters that don't kill. Otherwise most of his team ups is literally blood and gore everywhere.
