Why would anyone want this?
>>

>inb4 people start saying things without understanding the history of movie ratings.
>>
Who fucking cares? The movie looks bad as is.
>>
>>79047259
>not muh mcu
>>
>parents won't take him to a R-Rated movie
Fucking white people
>>
>>79047179

They're not asking for the Deadpool movie to be cut down to PG-13 but for Fox Studios to release a PG-13 cut along side the R rated version coming out.
>>
Disgusting. Hopefully, the petition will fail like pretty much every petition.
>>
>>79047306
Still, why? That's a lot of fucking effort to tone down the film to the ratinh. Plus it'll lose its charm.

Parents can still bring their kids to an R rated film right?
>>
"b-but my 8 year old child loves Deadpool, how come a superhero movie is rated R?"

because you spaced out and didn't pay attention to anything this fucking character does and assumed he was spiderman or something
>>
>>79047353
>Parents can still bring their kids to an R rated film right?
depends on the theater. most theaters won't let 13-17 year olds go into R rated films without a parent and restrict anyone under 13 from entering all together even with a guardian.
>>
This is one of those cases where people take a property that appeals to youngsters and "making it R-Rated" would probably eliminate most of the fans from seeing this film.
>>
>>79047532
But this film was made for UUUUUSSSSSS!!!
>>
>>79047532
Like Wolverine, Punisher, and every other hero who's existence mandates an R-rated environment.

Then again, I should've seen it coming. We get previous violent movies toned down for a broader audience, and they tanked. Now they release something that fits the environment, and people are bitching because they're excluded by a rating, saying 'tone it down for a broader audience'
>>
To spite the big deal they made about making the movie so that it's Rated R.

Fuck it, I'll sign. It'll simultaneously take the piss out of the comic book movie industry's publicity stunts and anyone who takes petitions on creative works seriously.

>i'll fuck up the movie industry even worse just so i could prove a point!
you sound like an extreme autist right now
>>
Why does anyone want this movie in the first place, really?

I'm a little sad that it's going to bomb but I also feel it's going to be pretty fucking awful. They've had a pretty solid commitment to the look of their casting at least.
>>
If they want a sanitized Deadpool, they can wait until it airs edited on cable.
>>
>Work at movie theater
>Be me also
>It's super deals weekend, movies are only two dollars a ticket as long as you buy a large drink
>Two movies being shown are Watchmen and Life of Pi
>Mother walks in with two kids who can't be older than ten and says she wants to watch the superhero movie
>This has happened so many times I'm told to just call for the manager.
>He comes out and explains that this is an R rated movie with sex, extreme violence, and other shit
>Mother doesn't care, still wants the tickets.
>Manager has her give a thumbs up to the camera in the lobby before selling her the tickets
>Ten minutes later she's back in the lobby complaining about the shit we just told her
>Manager tells her to, in much kinder words, fuck off.

People will straight up ignore anything you tell them in movie theaters guys, if they're dead set on watching an R-rated film with the kiddies just because it looks safe, they'll do it.
>>
>>79047715
If the industry is at the point that it's taking advice from a handful of bored Sunday fans on the internet, then it is beyond saving. Really, you thinking that any of this matters or will ever come to anything is the only thing pathetic here.
>>
>>79047755
Deadpool is hip and Hollywood wants to make LOADS of money
>>
>>79047755
Why the fuck are you so sure it's going to bomb?
>>
>>79047789
Except you still sound like an ass for assuming the movie industry even gives a shit about these people.
>>
>>79047755
i highly doubt it will bomb. fox is clearly putting all their chips into this film's success, moreso than they did with fantastic four or even the x-men they're currently producing.

You are REALLY bad at reading and I know exactly which lane of the stupid highway this argument you're having with yourself is going and you can have it all to yourself.
>>
>>79047814
1) It's R-rated
2) It stars Ryan Reynolds and some literally whos
3) It looks really bad from the trailer

All I'm hoping for is another Haywire-tier fight scene from Gina Carano. I like the dedicated casting and I had some goodwill towards the movie but that was mostly killed off by these obviously fake 'LMAO TRICKED MY GF INTO SEEING THIS' text messages.

>>79047860

lol, ok

this reminds me how people assume all cartoons are for kids

>I read a story like yours with a hentai in a video rental store
>"No Miss, I don't recommend this movie. It'd R-rated"
>"But it is a cartoon! Cartoons are for kids"
>then she goes, comes back and complains
>>
>>79047259
fuck you it looks great.
>>
>>79047353
>Parents can still bring their kids to an R rated film right?

Having worked as a movie theater usher, I can confirm that yes, kids can go to an R-rated movie as long as an adult is with them at all times.
>>
>>79047888
>You are REALLY bad at reading
>>79047789
>If the industry is at the point that it's taking advice from a handful of bored Sunday fans on the internet, then it is beyond saving.

No, I think I understood what you typed down enough. I think you just read OP's title, didn't bother to go to the link, and assumed there was this massive petition being built up by hundreds of thousands of people that Fox was taking seriously.

You know how many people this petition has? about 3,000. For fucks sake the moms video has more downvotes than that.
>>
>>79047306
in a fucking MONTH!?

Do people not know how long it takes to edit film!?

Just a 10 minute clip for youtube can can several days. Its a fucking hard as shit process, not to mention to tone a fucking gorey bad language and nudity filled action movie down.
>>
>>79047860
>fox is clearly putting all their chips into this film's success
It has a $50 million budget and some low level marketing campaign. That just isn't true.
>>
>>79047532
Deadpool is pretty much an R rated comic.
like Punisher.
>>
>>79048011
There are people who think it only takes a week to make cartoon episodes because they all saw that documentary that South Park put out.

I have met people that honestly believe that Brian from Family Guy was brought back because of fan back lash. Some people just have no grasp on what goes on to make these things.

deadpool was given 20 million to be made and FOx refused to fund it until tim miller and ryan rynolds essentially begged for it and leaked the test footage out online to create buzz.

Deadpool is the opposite of the typical hollywood cash in.
Its the antithesis of the MCU.

they gave them a measly 20 million for production.

People don't want to be told. They want to do what they want and bitch if their needs aren't met, even if they were told beforehand. They ignore the fire, and proceed to sue when they get burned.

To be told is to be robbed of your power as an individual, and that is rape. And rape is evil.

I miss old TV edits. Nowadays they just cut out the audio or remove the scene altogether (if it's something like a gesture, it can get blurred). It's no fun. The best part of watching TV edits was the weird new words and phrases they'd make up to replace swearwords and other things.

The only superhero movies I've walked out of thinking 'that was pretty good' are X-Men First Class, X-Men DoFP, Guardians, Captain America 1, Ant-Man and TDK. I've thought most of the others were either awful or just really average in pretty much every way.

They they might want to deal with the shame. If most people saw parents taking their kids to R-Rated movies, they'd probably think they were horrible parents.
>>
>>79047788
I think this might have something to do with the service industry. For some reason, people don't look at people doing their jobs in movie theaters as people, but more as... entities? Unless you've worked in that same industry, that is.

because deadpool is fun and the film is not only rated R with a decent production crew and cast, but looks to be everything the shitty MCU isnt.

and the bad jokes and quips actually make sense in this.
>>
Why change the rating, though? I'm sure many people seen Friday the 13th movies as kids, and turned out to be alright.
I doubt Deadpool could be more gory or sexual unless it's a retelling of Hostel with cape characters.

A large percentage of Deadpool's fanbase happens to be pre-teens and edgy teens brought in by out of context panels, memes and waypool comics.
>>

The MCU is objectively terrible. I used to think it was because they kept making sequels, but Columbia's X-Men 'Verse is still good even after all those movies, so I guess Marvel Cinematic a shit.

Deadpool though is used a lot in Marvel. Like the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoons or constantly in video games. Is it any wonder why children really like him?
Comics have a habit from going tame to full R. Look at Geoff John's JSA. It has this really cutesy scene where they recruit Cyclone. Two issues later, nazis are killing children at a picnic.

Comic writers really have no sense of tone.

>>
From my understanding of the ratings, the kid can still go to watch the movie as long as one of his parent is there?
>>
>>79047248
As someone who was raised by parents that were sticklers for the rating system, I found this video quite informative enjoyable, and I agree with it. I saw my first R rated movie at age 13 or 14, and it was Rain Man, a movie both my parents had seen before and agreed had content that was appropriate for me. Don't neuter movies to make more money.

>Fine, whatever.
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, movie had violence and nudity, how could you do this to me? >:(
Honestly, I'd lose my shit and yell at customer.
>>
It pretty much boils down to Deadpool being in more and more Marvel cartoons that are clearly PG to PG-13. When they see him in a cartoon they go "Oh hey its that guy who says funny stuff and shoots guns but doesn't kill!"

Then they read the Deadpool comics and get an entirely new experience like "Whoa I didn't know this dude was a badass fucking killing people and being gorey".

Granted there are PGish Deadpool comics out there, especially when he teams up with tame characters that don't kill. Otherwise most of his team ups is literally blood and gore everywhere.

I can see why this petition is in place which can be blamed on cartoons just carelessly throwing Deadpool in their shows for ratings and variety.

Still it's pretty fucking stupid to make it a PG-13 movie.
>>
>>79063149
I've ran into the same thing with this mom, I'd say she's a young 24+ mom. She bought her kid who looked like he wasn't even 12, Manhunt 2. I warned her of the rating. She told me "I'm blond, not dumb."

It's because US culture is obsessed with the idea of the empowered individual standing up for what they believe, which people end up twisting into "if I believe something or want something, it must be right and everyone else is wrong and nothing will convince me otherwise so give me what I want now".

There's a movie they want to see? Well, it's their right as an empowered US citizen to get whatever they want all the time. The US might as well print "the customer is always right" on its money.
