>Netflix is thisclose to pulling the trigger on The Punisher, a new Marvel spinoff series centered on Jon Bernthal’s gun-toting Daredevil vigilante (aka Frank Castle), TVLine has learned exclusively.
>Viewers will get their first look at Bernthal’s Punisher when Daredevil ‘s second season drops on Friday, March 18, but the early buzz on the Walking Dead alum’s performance is overwhelmingly positive.
>“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people to second-guess themselves,” previewed exec producer Doug Petrie in a recent interview with EW.com. “Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s–t.”

Defenders is apparently on a very tight contract. It basically has to start shooting by a certain date or Marvel will skunk their deal with Netflix.
The JJ showrunner has said that she wants to do a JJ season 2, but they basically can't until after the Defenders series.

Not surprising, Punisher was one of the 6 odd shows pitched to Netflix originally. I think the only 2 that haven't been made from that pitch are Cloak and Dagger, and the Hood.
I'm never going to see The Hood on netflix, and that makes me sad. I know he's not exactly popular on this board, but I think that could have been a really good show.

I'm not saying it didn't do well. I'm simply telling you what the next phase is. Marvel doesn't think viewers will tune in for a S2 of JJ because a lot of the acclaim is for Killgrave and she doesn't have any other villains really. They aren't looking to push her for a S2. They want her and Hellcat in the second season of Defenders though and there has been talk for an all female Heroes for Hire show. Believe me or don't, it doesn't really matter to me.

It comes as no surprise. Since filming wrapped people were going apeshit over how great Bernthal is as Frank.
He's got a big enough fan base that I have no doubt his series will quite popular. Fuck, if Jessica Fucking Jones was a massive success, Punisher will be even more so.
It's still rumor at this point, but I'm really hoping it's legit.
What would the first storyline be? Would it be an origin story? Will he already be doing his vigilante thing for a while? Personally I'd like for him to do the Welcome Back Frank storyline first, then move into some MAX.

I will be pretty bummed if they don't introduce the Punisher by recreating the scene where he knocks on a seemingly nice married couple's door, tells them to go down the their basement, revealing a kiddy porn set, and then he they're all like scared of getting arrested, but then he open's up his jacket to pull out his gun, revealing the punisher skull, and then they get REALLY scared and then blam blam, dead.
If they don't introduce him like that on DD, then hopefully they will in his own series.
If they don't do that, then hopefully they make him out to be a horror character, like show a gangster shitting his pants as if he's running from Jason Voorhees.
And going by the comic con footage or whatever, where Matt finds a bunch of bodies hanging on meat hooks, it looks like were getting something like that.
remember back in like 2008, where FOX almost made a punisher show where Frank was a cop by day, but the Punisher by night.
