Is this Robinson's magnus opium?
>>
>>79038777

Even if some of them deserve it (Robinson... er, well not ALL of it) I always feel bad when writers see the shittalk that we pass around on this board about them.
>>
>>79038827
They shoudn't take it seriously, /co/ hates everyone.
>>
>>79038983
>>79038827

Judging from Robinson's twitter too, I remember around the time when it was announced that he was leaving DC, his feed sounded like he was a pretty bitter guy with a bit of drinking problem.

Hope that's turned around for him since then.
>>
>>79038777
I liked it, it wasn't Robinson's best work but I felt like it let him vent a lot of pent up frustration
>>79038983
Most of the shit talk only really seems to be hate fuelled when its about writers like Leth and Bendis, even then its usually hyperbollic. People need to stop taking shitposting so seriously.
>>
>>79039045
He did quit drinking at some point but yeah he sounded pretty bitter (likely for good reason)
>>
>>79038777
It's certainly better than anything of his I've read in the past ten to fifteen years. I'd love this to be an ongoing but pretty sure Jim'd get fucking fired the fuck out of any company that might pay the bills as soon as he does "a scene at a Marvel retreat" or something.

Imagine that one where he has to call Civil War 2 an epic for that big ass website interview last week and the train of thought that'd go along with that shit.

>Imagine that one where he has to call Civil War 2 an epic for that big ass website interview last week and the train of thought that'd go along with that shit.

I'm frankly surprised that he hasn't quit the Big 2 entirely at this point.
>>
>>79039283
He probably likes getting a relatively steady pay check, I dunno if any of his independent attempts have really taken off
>>
SO call me a fucking casual, but what is Airboy about? Is it just Robinson talking about his experiences in the industry?
>>
>>79038777
>Is this Robinson's magnus opium?

No that would be Starman or Golden Age.
>>
>>79039357
It's just 4 issues, read it

>you now realize that there are probably a lot of writers/artists on /co/ that shittalk their peers and complain about comics and their companies
That's a pretty funny thought.
>>
>>79038777
Doesn't even touch Starman
>>
>>79039460

Holy fuck yes I do need to read it.
>>
>>79039500
We already know that happens. Mark Waid's AICN interview. Rucka's passive aggressiveness. Morrison joking about running over Millar. Moore hating the Big 2 and superheroes. Really it's a whole bunch of egomaniacs wanting to one up each other.
>>
>>79038777
>magnus opium
>>
>>79039500

I'm sure there's plenty of writers/artists who know OF /co/, but how many are confirmed to have actually posted here? I know Steve Lieber has shown up fairly regularly, but who else?

Not comics but Justin Roiland use to shitpost about Rick & Morty. He showed a better knowledge of 4chan than most, even his partner Dan Harmon.

Oh shit I forgot about that. That was pretty cool.

Warren ellis.

That was some funny shit.

I do like those people.

Also, I like their belief that I have more than one cock.

Also, pedotards stay away from my daughter or I’ll smear your tiny dicks off with the sole of my boot.

But mostly I like those people
>>
>>79039045
Probably because he's a pretty bitter guy with a bit of a drinking problem. He gets all the blame for awful things editorial has made him do, and has been typecast as the "golden age reimagining" guy. I mean shit, he finally breaks off from DC to go to Marvel and what's the first book they give him. The fucking INVADERS.
>>
>>79038777
>mfw that mention of Matt Wagner reminds me still no Hero Denied
>>
>>79040351

Well most of his best stuff with DC HAS been dealing with Golden Age heroes.

But Golden Age heroes and legacies in DC are a LOT different than in Marvel, so you can't make that kind of one-to-one transition. How's his Scarlet Witch been so far?
>>
>>79039584
I visit /co/ every day.
>>
>>79038827
Kek what are you some fucking faggot? If they are writing a shit book they need to know. I hate you people.
>>
>>79040517
So and so. It's not bad, but it's nothing special either so far.

The plot is a bit boring, but it does have potential to become something good. The rotating artists are the main draw of the book for me, Marco Rudy did an amazing job last issue.
>>
>>79040578
Who are you, dear anon?
>>
>>79040517
The book is an artist showcase. Robinson is just there to string the issues together.
>>
>>79040613
You'll never know.

I love you guys, though; you help me improve my writing.
>>
>>79040613
A nobody looking for attention.
>>
>>79040637

Glad to hear it.

Do you check out the "tropes you love" threads? I remember last one we had there was some speculation about how many actual writers troll discussions like that for ideas.
>>
>>79040637
Do you work for Marvel/DC?
>>
>>79039584
I once pissed off Dan Slott by spoiling Renew Your Vows around the time of Spider Verse, he kept posting "state your sources!"
>>
>>79040613
A meme in the form of man.
>>
>>79040657
Stop. It's not a writer, it's a NEET trolling you.
>>
>>79040440
It's been so long, I forgot Mage was a thing.

Thanks for depressing me.
>>
>>79039584
Brandon Graham shows up the most here. Giannis Milonogiannis was here once with Brandon in a Prophet thread last year or the year before. Brandon's friend James Stokoe has storytimed his Orc Stain comic here.
>>
>>79040656
That sounds like a bad idea.
You can't really avoid tropes and cliches at its most basic form but you shouldn't look to purposefully put them in.
>>
>>79040873

You are writing to an audience though, and if you know some basic story sketches that that audience enjoys, then it seems like that'd give you a leg up.
>>
>>79040696
kek, I hope this is true
>>
>>79039768
That's a pretty reasonable prediction IMO.
>>
>>79040637
GET THE FUCK OUT MAX LANDIS

I AM THE GHOST OF VIC MORROW AND I AM GOING TO HAUNT YOU AND YOUR DAD TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL
>>
>>79041010
That's what he gets for phoning it in.
>>
>>79039584
Bendis knows about is too but I don't think he comes here often, but he knows.
>>
>>79039357
Well, THIS Airboy book is but Airboy is a classic pulp comic that was resurrected in the 1980s.
