Last weekend's thread:

-GG's A-Z is nearing completion with a host of new villains made just for it
-Update on the Lovely Ladybug holiday special (see OP pic)
-Parasso, one of Chaptor's old enemies, was talked about a little
-New WIPs of Cosmic Crusaders (pic related)
-Elephant man with swords for tusks who worked as a bodyguard back in the day idea
-Strummer was talked about as well as musical duels
As well as all the other stuff I didn't mention.

Whats the verdict on using fusions as characters? Like Ms D'Meanor is the only one in so are any others allowed. With alternate realities such as BQ and GG universes, maybe others can fit in. Example is that there's a fusion between Jessica Rabbit and Helen Parr in the fusion thread that looks like a Golden Age character that would fit in with GG.
>>
>>79038745
Personally, I hate fusions and don't want them involved at all in these threads. We have enough issues with being derivative already without bringing in characters who are direct rip-offs of other things.
>>
>>79038745
There's also the unnamed golem witch with the hideous design.
>>
>>79038745
There have been fusions in /co/ creations dating back to 2009ish with the likes of Trinity, but that's played as a joke than an actual addition.

I think the general take on it is, if you can make them distinct enough from their sources, then they're usable for the shared settings and not just an AU of an existing setting.
>>
>>79038745
The issue with fusions, aside from being directly derivative works, is that they're heavily waifu-centric and our settings are already heavily skewed towards girls.

The golem (Two Birds, was it?) has always been more memorable than the witch.

I want to see him face off against Deadlift, the alien bio-mechanical forklift turned luchador, in the ring.
It'd be a good match up.
>>
>>79038745
It's hard to say "no fusions as characters" when Colette is the original fusion.
>>
>>79039072
Yeah, but she's been distanced somewhat from a lot of the original bits and pieces. Like she still doesn't wear shoes, but she also doesn't have the weird Toph things around her ankles.

If the Youthful Yearning hasn't worked out then I may have found a word to replace it.
Yardbird. Slang for a prisoner from around ww2.
I think its incredibly versatile. It works with almost everything I try pairing it with.
Personally I've particularly like Yogic Yardbird (some sort of esoteric Indian themed villain) and Yardbird Yearning (maybe a mook trying a prison break).
>>
>>79038989
I'm not sure how you'd convey the notion of a lucha match to a golem, but somehow I feel he'd do admirably.
>>
>>79039903
I meant to say "doesn't wear shoes" sometimes, but forgot a word. I think the point still stands, that Colette's become much more than the sum of her parts, while something like Trinity just can't function as anything but fanfiction.

If the golem is self-aware, then it could learn what it is.

If it just takes orders, then you could tell it the rules and what to do while in the ring.

I think Deadlift could, by some definition, be considered a golem.
>>
Maybe a way to revitalize the whole fusion concept would be to play it for horror. Like, a bunch of C and D list heroes got rammed together by a mad scientist or a black whole or some eldritch thing and so you have this gestalt abomination driven mad by the process that created it.

this is an idea I had for one of the first Bee issues. It is a scene of a dream he has, while his skeleton is changing into something harder.

It is supposed to be like a bee larvae in a hive cell but I guess its not that obvious.

This has been an interesting piece of work to see develop, in part because a great deal of work has gone into it.

>Yeti was mentioned at the end of last thread as a possibility for Y since Yawning and Yearning were proving to not be working.
Yawning Yetis? Yeti cubs wearing little sleeping caps and being tucked in all cosy by her? Nah I dunno.
>>
>>79043306
Yowling Yeti was one suggestion which would be a simple enough concept of a yeti with a huge mouth letting out a yowl.
>>
>>79043029

If I had the motivation, I'd draw Bee laying in his bed in the same position. I'll try it another time.

So what's the Quiz Master's deal?

Disgruntled former game show host who got replaced by a smartaleck contestant?
>>
>>79046229
There was that quiz-show scandal in the 50s. Maybe he lost his job as a result?

Or, someone last week suggested he could be disfigured. Maybe his show was an early attempt at something like Double Dare, and a stunt gone wrong horribly scarred him.
>>
>>79046289
So what's his motivation? Revenge against one of the less than 10 TV channels at the time for firing him?
>>
>>79047023
Revenge seems the obvious motivation, though looking at his panel, it seems his schtick is putting people into death traps and quzzing them, likely with their freedom as the grand prize. Maybe he's gone mad, and sees everyone as contestants eagerly lining up for his twisted "show"?
>>
>>79046229
>A consummate showman, John Barclay was the host of a popular game show "Stump the Quizmaster". Known as "the Channel Eight Adonis", because of his good looks and charismatic flair, John had it all; money, fame, and women. There was even talk of him busting out of the game show circuit and becoming one of Hollywood's leading men.
>But a studio fire caused by negligent workers dashed all those hopes, leaving the handsome star horrifically scarred. Donning a a full face mask and armed with an eclectic intellect, he attempted to seek revenge on the workers that lead to his disfigurement, only to be stopped by the Silver Queen. His hopes of revenge stolen from him drove him mad, and now John Barclay terrorizes the night as the Quarrelsome Quizmaster
>>

>>79047313
Maybe it started as revenge and now he keeps doing it so he'll be on TV.

Another new GG villain is Dr. Baron von Verrückt.

Once a member of the German aristocracy, he fled when an angry mob chased him out of his family home.
He lost his title and his land due to the war, but never had any involvement with it having fled Germany years before to continue his experiments elsewhere.
>>
>>79046229
It's not really necessary to waste time building some sort of complex character for him because GG is a gag strip and that sort of thing isn't needed.

A Japanese man travels the Himalayan region of Asia after becoming frustrated with the state of post-war Japan and resentful of the American occupation. While mountain climbing in Tibet an avalanche nearly claims his life, but he's saved by a family of kind yetis! The yeti family nurses him back to health, but the mama and papa yeti are slain by exploring Chinese soldiers as Tibet is incorporated into China. Now brimming with hate for the Allies, the man raises the baby yeti and teaches it the way of sumo, naming him Yokozuna Yeti and using its great strength in his war against the Allies!
>>

I like the one where she's running away.

A yeti is outside her weight class.
>>
>>79048989
We haven't discussed much of their backstory, just the forward moving story.

Stretcherous begins looking for her sister, she starts in the hanger fights on the floating island, gets a lead from there, gets into trouble with Ma'am Aries because of something her sister did, ends up doing a job with the Vixen Six who her sister did a job with prior, and then getting mixed up with the Mean Teens (Shade, Melting Point, others), and then I think she finally finds her sister who is pissed at her for getting involved in this lifestyle.

Since Blackstrap seems attuned to being a villain more than her sister, what if they were raised by like assassins/thieves/ bad guys in general (elasticity can be used for stealth as Incredibles has shown). Not wanting that life, Haley ran off with her little sister in tow to get away from that path. But living on their own is tough so she had to turn to villainy in the end just to survive.

Just something that came to mind.
>>
>>79055740
I always got the vibe they were sort of engineered. The scenario I imagined was that their parents were genetically profiled and the potential for stretch powers in their offspring was found. They had kids, which they were paid to give custody of to whatever evil company we're using and raised in their employ before Black got sick of it.

It leads to a pretty powerful resentment of their parents, with the possibility of a dynamic where Black knows and Stretch doesn't. Imagine Stretch expressing an interest in finding their parents before Black has to tell her.

well, the idea of her character is that she has this austere, professional front, that hides her obsession with magic shit since she grew up on good ol' grannies stories of lording over the town with the coven's magical witch bitch powers. So when magic shit is confirmed for her, she begins to use her position to regain that absolute power from ye old days.

Man, I wonder about this universe's version of Extraordinary League of Gentlemen. If the Queen's Queers are more of a proto-MI6, this one should be more like a club that solves mysteries and go on adventures, stuff like that.
Which could mean that some QQ members could be members of this club.
So, who could be members of this club? Alistair Greene is a definite yes. Maybe one of the Dangers. Also, I'm wondering if one of the Summers ancestors was a member too.
>>
>>79083067
Actually, the way I always thought of the QQs were they started as a club, but they were just so useful the Queen at the time gave them special privileges when it came to things of the queer variety.

I've always thought of it starting like a Gentleman's Club, the sort where men went to show off their trophies and tell stories about their hunts, as well as go on hunts together.
Then they started hunting magical things that were causing problems and kept doing it since it was a better challenge and it was in service to the Crown.

First gen QQs are mostly those big game hunters who found a way to keep getting the thrill of the hunt without ending up hunting The Most Dangerous Game. They'd catch all manner of magical beastie and keep them in a collection in their glob trotting adventures.

Second gen QQs were people recruited to their ranks who had legit queer abilities (as they were called at the time) instead of just hunters.
Firedamp here would be such a member. They started putting that magical collection to work, in any way they could.

Then there's third generation QQs who were probably in service during the great wars, in the trenches with the likes of Nicky Two-Vests and later still General Freedom. This generation saw some shit.
Alistair Greene was young enough during this time.

Fourth generation probably started getting more MI6 than LoEG, lots of cloak and dagger shit going on, new queers popping up everywhere, especially in the Americas due to all the super human testing they were doing, as well as other contributing factors. Also the cold war was on going.

Then the thing that happened occurred a few years into the new millennium and we're at gen five, calling themselves Britainment, being managed by one of the magical beasties the originals QQs captured more then a century before.

The entire story of Hong Kong is like a fictional plot, even the end.

>Before Hong Kong was handed over from the British to the Chinese in 1997, U.K. officials had discussed a plan to resettle the island nation’s entire population to Ireland, newly released documents reveal.

>Formerly classified government documents published Friday by Britain’s National Archives reveal a 1983 government file, titled “Replantation of Northern Ireland from Hong Kong,” in which British officials discussed a plan to settle 5.5 million Hong Kong residents in a newly built “city state” between Coleraine and Londonderry in Northern Ireland.

I'm sure we can go one step further.
>in the final days of the empire, Britain magically transports all of it's territories to the area around the islands.

Hong Kong somewhere between Northern Ireland and Scotland. Falklands? Somewhere off the East coast. Gibraltar can go near the South West.
>>
>>79077665
Top notch.
>>
>>79086557
They didn't have big magic then. It was all dried up.
The magical hot spots all over the British islands in the Britainment setting are a recent (within 10 years I guess) development, and pretty much what moves the story along if we could ever get the ball rolling on it.

I got ideas, but no one wants to hear ideas, they want to see pictures, and Cosmic Crusaders' second saga is probably pretty far off.

OK, if I can resize it to be smaller than 12.5 megapixels, then host the original on imgur, I can have it so when it's clicked on in the gallery it'll redirect to the full sized on hosted on imgur and not the scaled down one that would have to be made to get it on wikia.

>>

GG was conceived sometime during the end of September or beginning of October.

She was created in the time span that cannot be recovered from the most recent archive crash. It was right before it happened, there was a thread discussing why Steph's boobs were so huge during her time as Robin and it just went from there.

That character doesn't even have a name.
It's been stuck in the vague concept stage since its introduction.

But I'd say second generation if it were since the first generation were what we'd probably consider one step away from poachers by today's standards.

Though there won't be much to find since I know for a fact the idea never went anywhere.
Just a bunch of reverse harem "oh no, I am shirtless and also a sexy water nymph taking a bath outside your window" and such with no pics.

In the US each bra company is allowed to decide for themselves when to use double and triple letters.
Even women's clothing is sized with an arbitrary number system.
A lot, if not most, of this a product of marketing to make sizes sound more appealing.
>>
>>79107594
Well I'm sorry it doesn't have the mass appeal of X cup tweens, I guess.
>>
>>79108161
The thing is, it was never about whoever the character was, it was always about things that could happen to her, but she never got a personality, so there was no way to have her react.
>>
>>79108365
Or a name, even.
But I think the response to that is >do you expect me to come up with everything
and more butthurt.

For a supposed "better" concept and character there's very little thought put into it.
>>
>>79108365
Rather like the demon post office in that regard, then? That seemed to get enough talk. I don't know why this idea in particular deserves such a rancorous response.

It never got very far along, friend, but she was described as having an intense sense of curiosity offset by a Victorian sense of propriety, which is more to work with than many characters have. I don't see how Tarzan by way of the brothers Grimm is less agreeable of a premise than "a giant evil baby wants to suck on a middle schooler's giant tits," personally, but to each their own.
>>
>>79108442
I just wanted to use Alistair Greene for a "human researcher in otherworld" idea, but no one liked the idea.
>>
>>79108580
I liked it well enough, it seemed like a good way to revive a character that had fallen by the wayside, but others seemed to think it conflicted with his timeframe. I recall there was some talk of making the naturalist a relative of his, too.
>>
>>79108577
Two of the things in your post seem like bait to me. In fact that is bait. I'm gonna have to ask you to stop being passive aggressive or whatever it's called these days.

And then there was not-redwall, and then that got axed from it, and then there were other things, and then those got axed from it.

Whoever was pushing for it, it just felt like they didn't know what they wanted since they'd say stuff like " curiosity offset by a Victorian sense of propriety" but all that was ever proposed was reverse harem cliches.
>>
>>79108709
>I don't like it so it's bait

Nice. Real classy. Way to address any of the points. Bonus for accusations of passive aggression when you've been snarkily pooh-poohing this entire concept ever since you decided to stick your nose in the conversation.

Just to make it perfectly clear that the goal of that post was not to inflame your sensibilities, the mention of the giant baby isn't an attack on Golden Girl, it's merely meant to illustrate that every project has bad ideas, and that they don't necessarily need to be canonized. Just because there was talk of "reverse harem" content doesn't immediately invalidate everything else any more than the talk of weird lactation shit invalidates GG.

Honestly I think you're just seeing what you want to see. The last time I saw it brought up the topic was reworking the water nymph into a grizzled old sea captain convinced the fish in her pond were her pirate crew. That's not "harem" content, nor was the pseudo Redwall. If you don't like that particular project, fine, but you don't need to be catty about it.
>>
>>79108995
Not that anon but really man, your post did read like it had a lot of snark in it.

If you want my advice, get GIMP and draw something. It doesn't matter if you can't, it'd show effort beyond just ideas.
>>
>>79109136

I'm not going to pretend I'm not annoyed. Having an idea you like talked down for no good reason is pretty frustrating. That said, I'll admit it probably wasn't the most tactful response on my part.

I apologize for contributing to a lowered level of discourse, and I'll take a step back for now. Sorry about that.
>>
>>79109486
Now let's get some non-reverse harem cliches.

So we've got a character, it's another girl character, and she's in a magical pocket dimension thing full of fairies, and harpies, and some unicorns, and all that sparkly fantasy stuff.
But she's not a little girl, she's a British woman of proper upbringing.

Now, I'm thinking she should assume that everything wants to devour her flesh (because every fairy tale creature always wants to devour your flesh in the old versions) and she doesn't trust any of them.

But she's a scholar, she can't just dismiss this, it's the find of the lifetime. What would her grandpappy/uncle/paternal role model who is not easily impressed who is stern yet fair say if he knew she passed up ADVENTURE?

So, she needs to set up a base, and I doubt it'll be a cottage. They might make her a cottage, but she'll need to be won over to actually live in it.
For now, she's got a tent and a cave.

Okay, I know it's uncalled for to start posting this again and out of the blue despite lack of interest but I just need some help with his costume (if it needs a redesign)
Is it too boring to look at?
Too bleh?
(The idea behind it was it was thrown together using everyday athletic clothing and maybe it can evolve and change throughout the story)
>>
>>79111483
Yes, it should totally evolve throughout the story.

It's a good visual indicator that the character is getting more comfortable with the hero role, or to show their growth in general.

It starts off as athletic gear, then gets more armored bits, more streamline for his running, more durable.

There could even be a scene where JD realizes Wells is starting to lose it when he sees the redesigns of his costume later down the line and how they look more menacing than when they started.
>>
>>79112154
I think JD comes from a well adjusted family with him being also being well at school and at work, so the sudden shift in tone in his long friendship with Wells should crush him emotionally right?
What do you think should happen to him?
Should he have that mopey phase?
Be angrier and "edgier"?
I'm not good at writing believable character scenarios that's why I came here for help initially.
>>
>>79112727
I think the costume redesign should be like a warning light in JD's mind that his friend needs some time away from this before he gets too far gone.

It could be what leads into JD and Wells just having a day in town as themselves and taking in what the public opinion of them is or has become... then the restaurant scene happens where Theta figures it out and JD has to wear the new costume just to stay alive.

There should be some guilt that he's enabling his friend once the act starts becoming more real, and near the end I think Wells should also realize he's dragged his friend into something far worse than he thought it was, then asking JD to evacuate with the rest of the city while he keeps Theta busy before he goes critical in a "taking you down with me" type of situation.
It's the only way he can be sure Theta won't go after JD once he's gone critical and dies.

Of course there's the other stuff that's been discussed of JD coming back just in time to punch Wells hard enough to transfer the overloading energy from the shards in his face to his Ghost suit, leading to the time travel take.

Could always throw in a little Imperial jingoism as well.

I don't see her getting in to a Jane scenario where she's all giggling in wonder at the magic, and how quaint everything is.

Or, here's an idea, how about rather than an adventurist, she's a romantic? More of a Lake Poet (but she's really bad. Like, nearly Vogon bad). Wouldn't be an unlikely characteristic if she came from Industrial Britain.
>>
>>79116849
I thought I was already taking it away from any sort of Jane-esque character.

Her being bad at recognizing romance and flirtation could be played as why she never goes for anything presented to her. Her situation is full of things trying to emulate how these stories often go and she just brushes them all off to study some mundane thing?

But her not being an explorer type makes it difficult to place her in otherworld in the first place.
Otherworld has a lot of weird rules about its barrier making it difficult for humans to enter, probably even for magically inclined humans.
>>
>>79117199
Could always combine the two. Set her a little earlier, in the age of European expansion, and have her be different than most explorers. While they are finding new and wonderous locations and saying "this would make a great city," she's setting off to find a new land that could be kept exactly as it is.

Or have her set a little later, where she just wants to find somewhere new and untouched. Would it be too much of a change to make her a "modern" day city dweller who doesn't like how little nature is left, and how there's nothing new to find.

I think giving her a higher reason to explore, rather than just for the sake of it, would be the answer.

We could just have her end up in a place that's not the Otherworld. I'm sure there's more than one magical plane out there she could end up at.
>>
>>79117402
I like the option of her wanting to find somewhere that's still untouched.

And there are some options aside from Otherworld such as The Wandering Country and at least one tribe of fae in South America that have their own magical hotspot keeping their bodies stable.

I have some pics of those tribal faes, but I can't post them because of tits.
>>
>>79117526
Or it could be something new.
>>
>>79117961
Well yeah, that's also an option.

I was just posting what I know that we already have that could work aside from otherworld.

I think making a new location for her might end up overtaking the character though.
And we so rarely use the locations we actually have established.
>>
>>79118023
I don't see how that is the case. Surely "an interesting location will overshadow the character" but also be said of pre-existing locations?

Besides, doesn't it completely erase the point of a character who wants to find a new place to put them to something some guy made 5 years ago?
>>
>>79118222
>Besides, doesn't it completely erase the point of a character who wants to find a new place to put them to something some guy made 5 years ago?

I feel like you're mixing up character knowledge and audience knowledge. It doesn't matter how long we've had it, if it's new to the characters.
>>
>>79118222
>Surely "an interesting location will overshadow the character" but also be said of pre-existing locations?

It's a difference of having to develop two things at once. With an existing location, you can focus on how the character reacts to what you already know of the setting, rather than focusing creative energy on building something worth reacting to.
>>
>>79118559
>>79118486
Plus we have to tie this in to a Bug creation somehow.
>>
>>79118581
Yeah, I figured you were that guy.
>>
>>79118581
This story concept has been dead in the water for over a year, because each time it's discussed it gets bogged down in development of the location. Starting from a known place gives a solid foundation from which to actually progress. If you're so against Big content being used, either make something yourself or shut up, because it has been shown time and again that waiting for it to be done in the thread simply will not produce anything.
