Checked this series out. The art looked good and I thought the concept was interesting. I also assumed all of the backlash was /co/ overreacting.
Dear god, /co/ was right. It's honestly one of the worst books I've read in recent years.
I like Ms. Marvel and even Nu Batgirl, so I thought maybe this series would be at least fun. It's literally just on the nose political "commentary"that wouldn't be out of place on a 15 year old "activist's" blog. I know Marvel as always been about progressive politics, but this series doesn't even try. It's page after page of exaggerated feminist rants that the readers are actually expected to agree with. If I didn't know otherwise, I would've thought it was satire.
I only paid $6.50 for Vol. 1 from my LCS who was having a "Women of Marvel" sale, but I still ended up returning it for Black Widow Vol 1.

This, pretty much. That one scene was godawful horseshit, but the rest of that first run wasn't bad. The biggest problem with it was that it dragged the mystery on for too long at the expense of character depth.
With that mystery gimmick out of the way, the relaunched Thor is actually quite good. Jane is an actual character, and Loki is awesome in it.
