They were going to make it an animated series for Adult Swim. Expiration Date would have been one of the episodes, but that one episode took so long to make that they cancelled it.

they could even have a thing where each episode Caim uses a different sword, and every couple of scenes we get a bit of the sword's backstory, which will be something related to the thematically connected to the events of the episode.
The story is fantastic but egad does the endless running across sparsely populated fields get dull.
For the other ending you could even have an Accord doing the same thing as in 3, but without the direct interference, and reveal that she was trying to track where the Grotequerie Queen went across timelines, ending it with a sneak peek of NieR's time
I don't expect it to be just the game, but the world has so much room to stretch it's limbs. Hope more lore comes into play for the sequel.

The only issue I could see is that the movie would have to tread the fine line between the great divide of players; either murder-mode with complaints of morality/ending, or (mostly) pacifistic with a light ending but no action.

I would love a World of Warcraft series that uses the in-game cutscene engine, since I know a CGI one is out of the question probably. Something basically follows some self inserts through the biggest events of the game, would make me so happy.
