>>
>>78954482
Do the zords apply mass displacement when combining? The sabertooth tiger is barely bigger than the feet of Golder, and yet it then turns into an entire leg from knee down on the Megazord. Either it gets much bigger while transforming, or the T-Rex-zord is three times the size of all the other ones.

>the artist kept the Bandora Palace sign

nice
>>
>>78954288
Why was shield almost never used in tv series?
>>
>>78954723
Yeah, it was never directly stated, but it is the case.

The Tyrannosaurus Zord was always the size of the monster it was fighting, if it didn't change size the Megazord would be twice the size of the monster
>>
>>78954288
I'm about to sound like a tremendous faggot, but I hate when comic artists/writers are so out of touch from Toku monsters like this. It looks like some random Hollywood monster, not like something Rita/Bandora would make.
>>
>>78954933
To be fair though his legs fold while sliding into the zords, so it's maybe only slightly taller. Works for the toys at least.
>>
>>78954998

Actual toku monsters are too "dumb looking" to appeal to an American audience.
>>
>>78954123
>Not linking the song in the OP

Come on anon. There's even a bunch that have AL the themes too
>>
>>78955169
Then don't adapt it.
>>
>>78955292

They aren't adapting it, they're doing something different with the same idea. Which in this case is Power Rangers, but trying to be more "serious" by not having the monsters be stuff like giant pig faces that hate spicy foods.
>>
>>78954312
Because yellow ranger is a male in the original japanese show.
>>

>>
>>78954998
>>78955325

Personally I think you can have wacky toku monsters in a comic and make them threatening. Just write them as actually threatening villains instead of jokey pun throwing monsters they are usually portrayed as in show. Sure some people might think its wierd seeing the rangers fight giant pigs, chickens and toads. But the monsters are one of my favourite things about power rangers. Along with the multi colored suits and combining robots.

>>
>>78962076
You're not, though until MMPR season 2 it was something of a given. Geki and Burai basically WERE the plot of Zyuranger.
Then after they started using Dairanger footage, they realized how much kids loved Tommy (Hint: it's for the same reason kids loved Vegeta) that they decided to use him more. Kids continued to love him, he continued to stay on. He decided to leave, so he left. Can't force an actor to stay on.

Then Dino Thunder was the first dino-themed season since MMPR 1, so they figured they'd bring someone back as a veteran character. Austin St John was off in Afghanistan doing relief work, most of the rest had severely distanced themselves from the franchise, but Jason David Frank didn't have a problem with it AND he'd been there for the Forever Red reunion episode.

Tommy is a perfectly alright character - a villain who becomes not only a hero but the hero with the single longest tenure of any of them, with enough powersets from his various teams to have a full team of 5 on his own - but JDF himself is arrogant and unlikeable in his public dealings.
>>
>>78960908
I'm serious. It'd be pretty fucked if they ever showed he in a car.
>>
>>78962226
Honestly, I don't think Frank is like that on his own. I remember up until a few years ago his con appearances were pretty casual and he said that he isn't tommy. Then he reinvented himself as an MMA fighter JESUS DIDN'T TAP GO GREEN GREEEEN guy. I think his agent or his wife is to blame.

>>
As a Sentai fan with only a faint recollection/nostalgia for PR, I still dug this issue. It isn't amazing, but it was fun and they hired great artists for it. I almost want to financially support it just because it isn't Big 2.

I won't expect the book to handle anything deeper than the plot itself, but that's probably the way it should be - toku isn't known for that and I'd be silly to expect otherwise.

>>78965349
In Space was probably the best time to quit, but I stayed on through Wild Force; I should have just left at Time Force.

Ninja Storm with those power spheres. I'm sad because my Mini-zord broke.

>>
>>78966869

Kids love ninjas, and Americans don't care about trains the way Japan does. Still, it's strange that Toei is suddenly so lax about the whole "adapt every Sentai" thing.
>>
>>78966869
There's no way Saban or Disney would do ToQger.
Kids old enough to watch Power Rangers in America just don't like trains. The only kids media in America involving trains is Thomas the Tank Engine.
Also, it's a very kiddy series. If Sentai is light shonen, Kamen Rider is dark shonen, and Garo is seinen, then ToQger is kodomo.

Only Nickelodeon knows, and they stopped knowing what they were doing about a decade ago.

>>78966970

There was some wooden acting, resulting from them bringing in Japanese directors like Sakamoto to direct episodes. Which ties in to the other big gripe: it's basically just a 1:1 translation of Gaoranger, when the big draw of Power Rangers now is that it takes the Sentai footage and does something new with it (though it's not as bad is this respect as Samurai).

wasn't the only original thing about Wild Force, was the Master Org was actually a real thing?
>>
>>78966324
Don't delude yourself.

Dino Charge is good. Dino Charge is objectively the best new saban show.

It's not Top Tier. It's not even Dino Thunder Tier.
>>

nostalgia tier doesn't mean it's shit.
>>
>Comic isn't dressing everyone in 90s as fuck clothing

What's the point?
>>
>>78967146
Has its moments but it's overall pretty bad, fampai. I enjoyed it in its time.
>>
>>78967251
It's not in the 90s.

in comparison to other kids shows, how do you feel that Power Rangers stands

In the early 2000's - 2008, despite what some people say about that era, I feel that Power Rangers stood up high with some of the big name kid's shows, only really ever beaten out by the likes of Justice League and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

But Power Rangers now? Even with Dino Charge being "decent" it still just feels like it's just "there," not really much of a reason but to take up space. it honestly it feels like one of those moments one might say "Why watch this, when there are better kid's shows out there." Power Rangers now just feels like it is only just hitting the "check-box."
I mean, when a little girl's show has the main character a prison baby, you know you need to step your game up.
But enough about my thoughts, where do you think Power Rangers stands in the kid show hierachy

How would history have changed had Stan succeeded in bringing over Sun Vulcan way before Saban did MMPR?
>>
>>78967289
These days it's just a blip on the rader. Kids don't care about Power Rangers really anymore.
>>
>>78965460
Heh, must have felt strange, Jason pretending to be Austin pretending to be Jason.
>>
>>78967221
Normally when someone says "Nostalgia Tier" their basically saying we only think it's good because we view it with rose colored glasses.
>>
>>78967289
There was, is and always will be a place in kids' media for martial arts action shows. I mean, TMNT's still going strong.
But I'd have to look at ratings and toy sales and all that to get a real grasp on it. Or I'll ask my friends who are in elementary ed if kids still like Power Rangers.
>>78967350
Wasn't Sun Vulcan a satire season?
>>
taking bets on when they will give the original MMPR Rangers Battlizer armors just to fuck with the nostalgia fans.
>>
>>78967422
Sun Vulcan was a series made as a sequel to the series before it called Denjiman because Denjiman was pretty popular back when it was airing.
>>

yeah, but TMNT has a wide demographic.

Can't be much wider than PR's.
>>
>>78954218
>yellow ranger is yellow
>black ranger is black

All is right with the world.
>>
>>78967486
How big was PR in Japan? Some people say it was pretty big, others (mostly sentai purists who cannot post without calling the show shit, compulsively) say it didn't register at all.
Does anyone know for sure?

I mean, I don't think it'd be that great, but at the same time there's a Maasaki Endoh cover for its title song...

you would be surprised.
you can tell alot by the products they put out.
>>
>>78967574
I think Japan did find it inferior than the original source material that they saw before MMPR appeared, but they do appreciate what it does.
>>
>>78967574

Unless people can bring up specific numbers, at best it's a niche product for Westaboos (unless they need to make fun of it like in Akibaranger). Nowhere close to the popularity of Sentai, even now that it's taken a dip.
>>
>>78967618
the Japanese LOVE power rangers. Alot of the sentai actors come in and repirse their roles for their Power Rangers seasons at times.
>>
>>78967574
S.P.D. was popular enough that they actually got Dekaranger's main actors to voice their color counterparts for the Japanese dub.
>>
>>78967574
only like a few seasons aired. the first movie and I think like space - light speed. Samurai, SPD, and Mystic Force were dubbed on Toei's on demand...

so it is just...kind of there.

>>
>>78967289

Power Ranger's problem is that it's to tame and generic to be entertaining right now. They didn't even want the Rangers to have personalities in Samurai and Megaforce.

They had all this hype about owning the franchise again and they botched it because they put as little money and care into Samurai as humanly possible. It was just stilted translated watered down scripts attached to wooden acting.

And Nick didn't start with the first episode for whatever terrible reason... It was going to blow up in their face and it really did.

damn, that's some great quality of shit turtles.

Literally the best Power Rangers has is
>legacy set: which is just slightly better old toys
>"Nippon edition" of Samurai and Megaforce zords, which is just japanese imports.

Power Rangers blown the fuck out.
>>
>>78967952
I know Tommys actor is kind of a cunt now.

Like, that suit he wore in Super Mega Force? He cut it up into post-it-notes size squares and sold it to fans.
>>
>>78967952
Apparently they did not get along.

Still don't, if what I've heard was true. Jason David Frank apparently never let what Austin claimed was childish bragging go.

But then, Tommy was always cooler.
>>
>>78967952
Supposedly Austin St John was at a con talking to someone there who asked a question about fighting someone with long hair, to which Austin referred to as a "bitch grip", and Jason David Frank saw the clip of this on Youtube and took offense to it due to his time having long hair while filming MMPR and Zeo. As far as I know the two of them haven't patched things up yet.
>>
>>78968021
also everyone made fun of the blue ranger actor for being a gay and he like tried to kill himself repeatedly
>>
i can still hear the bad guys voices in my head
rita's giving me a boner as usual
>>
>>78968053
Actually it was just the producers of the show who did that. His costars supported him.
>>
>>78968021

If you read the interview with the one kid from Dino Thunder the man was fucking unhinged. He would constantly try to start fights with the kid that played Conner and was a general ass on set.
>>
>>78966643
I still don't get how In Space can be god tier.

The writing and the story was fantastic but oh god the acting was the drizzling shits.

I'd imagine a god tier series would have both good acting and good writing/story which both RPM and Time Force has.

But then, I'm in no place to really judge having not watched every season

I watched up to In Space then stopped, then picked up again during Time Force when it became a guilty pleasure while I was baby sitting then stopped again.

Then I would watch years later when I heard RPM was supposed to be the final season.

Good to know the 2 seasons I stumbled upon are both seen as the best of the franchise.
>>
>>78967598
Nice cherry picking. How about for the show that's a ctually airing right now?
>>
>>78968102
Really? What the fuck, Guy who plays Tommy?

How can such a cool guy on screen be such a dick off?
>>
>>78968082
that is even worse and sorry for my not knowing. i feel so bad for the guy. he was always my fav ranger. he's livin his dream now though so im happy for him :)

That's from a movie that just came out and the show that's airing is producing a new mold for nearly every figure and in most stores it takes up about half an aisle compared to most lines having two or three peg rows.

all of the original cast pretty much patched everything out. JDF is still a massive faggot though.

That said, Walter Jones (Zack) and Austin st John (Jason) are still best bros to this day if interviews from a couple of years ago are anything to go by.
>>
>>78968012
JDF is actually super cool with embracing his history with Power Rangers and the fanbase.
>>
>>78954218

Thats because it's his entire identity now.
>>
>>78968335

I really hope there are some nice character focus issues. Things are a bit vague at the moment of Tommy is hearing the actual Rita or if its some kind of PTSD but I think either way it's a really fun hook and if it is PTSD it does a lot to flesh his character out right off the bat.

Higgins is a pretty good idea guy and I think he'll do well in a book with no editorial bullshit mucking things up.

Just in general, Nick/Viacom is really going all out with all of these collectors stuff.

I mean, what else have they done on this quality? Lin from Karra got a figure...and that was it.
>>
>>78968293
That's literally only because he realizes there is more money to be made in embracing that fact. It's really all he has left.

It wasn't long ago JDF avoided his PR history like the plague and would even go off on people who brought it up. Kinda like Amy Jo Johnson did minus the going off on people. like JDF however, AJJ seems to be receptive to her PR fame now as well

Zack had all his fingers even though the actor didn't because of the Sentai footage. They would avoid that hand as much as they possibly could.

>That's literally only because he realizes there is more money to be made in embracing that fact. It's really all he has left.
Well, considering the guy is not an actor, getting some money on the side from his past fame doesn't seem too bad to me.
AJJ is a better (I didn't say good) actress and has worked on more shows. Dunno where she is now, last I knew she was playing a Swat team cop or something.

I don't know how that is cherry picking? I mean, the whole point of the original point was that TMNT has more variety.

What, Power Rangers panders to MMPR...that's about it.

TMNT has done high quality figures for: the platinum movie, Nick turtles, Mirage stuff, some things not based on an iteration (Good Smile statues, The "First Turtle" figure by Mondo, and Three Zero is teaming up wtih Kevin Eastman to provide some figures on some old concept art.

that's a bit more than what power rangers has done.
