Andrea walks in on Carl and Lydia having sex.
Rick has a rally where he announces he was attacked and goes into detail about the military organization, forgives Morton for taking part in the rednecks attack.
Negan can hear the commotion from his cell and praises Rick.

I don't think things will end well for either of them, if anything it'll just shape Carl further into Negan 2.0 if Lydia does die.
I'd like to think that there will be some cool espionage shit going on with the masks if Lydia does help mass produce them for the community, you can see where I'm going with this, Alexandria and others will sneak into The Whispers camp, gather Intel and come back while fucking with them for what Alpha did with the pikes. Alpha could do the same and get people on the inside, while causing shocking messages similar to that of the beheading. I think that's what we're going to see this arc and next before things escalate to another all out war.
Though I see the conflict ending with maybe a treaty or something, they could use Carl and Lydia's relationship as an example to help cement things and propose that they wouldn't need to fight further, giving that they are from two different groups at war but are in love. Then again, this is The Walking Dead so chances are Lydia is just going to die to help further Carl's growth.

Speaking of other communities, I wonder when we're going to see Oceanside? They more than likely don't want to get involved in this, they really don't have a good reason too since they didn't lose people in the beheadings, I'd imagine they'd stay independent from the war but I could be wrong.

All that buildup for nothing. Though I wouldn't say truly nothing, we still don't know what they are going to do in the grand scheme of things, they could try and topple the Ricktator's regime like how Rick became leader. Or I'm guessing they are there to show things from a different perspective of the community, kind of like how when Rick and co first entered and they acted all cautious and covertly.
I'd like to see Magna be Rick's general or something, that would be cool, or maybe interrogator. She knows what torture looks like apparently so her putting those skills to use would be good.

Yes. After the Whisperers are dealt with, I think Kirkman will make Magna and her group a prominent prescence within the comics. Hell, Magna will make a great antithesis to Maggie, similar to the dynamic of Negan/Rick. I wouldn't mind a Magna vs Maggie plot.
Kirkman can handle Magna character well, if he write her perfectly. I'd like to see more of the internal/isolated problems then Rick and them having to deal with external forces like the Whisperers. To put it simply, I'd like to see Rick develop a relationship with Magna where he trust her and Magna gradually become more of a villian as she discover more information about Rick, Maggie, Carl, and Andrea where Magna kill one of them and Rick fall off the deep end and kill her. Beats me.

Carl is safe, no matter what happens. Kirkman said he'll kill Rick eventually. And Kirkman'll use Rick death to keep Carl alive to become the protagonist, most likely.
Lydia? Yes and no. I've got a feeling Kirkman will put Lydia in a ambiguous situation where an issue will end vaguely rather or not she is alive or dead. Then the next issue, Lydia is comatose and quarantine and is put on daily survilence.
If Kirkman is going to keep Negan alive for a while, then it'd be great to set up Carl as the anti-hero/sliding into his own villainy with Negan making Carl his protege because Carl can't stand Rick sermons, so he goes to Negan for advice. Negan isn't a myth, the boogeyman, a legend anymore, so it'll be good to see Negan give backstory about his own life and Carl would be great for that, make Carl feel like he can trust Negan and all. And then, it'd be sweet karma if Carl did eventually kill Negan as he once told him.

Rick'll stay the same as he currently is. And he already ensured the survival of his people by proposing the army.
As Negan said, Rick kept him alive not out of goodness yet because Rick wanted to be reminded of his humanity. So, I think Rick is hardened, he use it as a surpressor knowing he can revert to that Rick Grimes again.
Rick became smarter and analytic, i.e., the way he reprimended Olivia secretly for leaving Negan cage unlock, telling Eugence there has to be another way instead of harming Lydia, etc cetera., Rick is hardened because of his current experience he goes through.
