Yeh the hippie era is a distant memory by this point and popular culture has gotten darker and removed from 60s idealism. Punk rock is emerging and Gallup polls show that Americans are feeling much less optimistic about the future than they did 5 years ago.
Why doesn't DC or Marvel publish any underground comix? I'd start reading them but I'm not splurging $0.25 on some no-name artist.
