>>
>>78945047
Cartoons so are awful these days, their art styles are so uninspired and samey and that sucks because they were actually pretty well made as recently as last decade. They look so cheap despite there being so many talented artists working on them. I can't name a single show that is considered good today that would be anything more than 'okay' ten years ago. I think the worst part is that they all come from the same one place

CalArts

Anyways, what was this thread's topic again?

Man, I was so hyped to see Aerosmith last week and wow, what a waste of money. They were so high they barely even knew where they were, let alone be able to play.

What the hell's a computer?

These "Riot" guys from New York might be up to your speed, though they have this weird song about some "Warrior" dude. It's a bit too fast for it's own good though. Here's hoping this fast stuff doesn't catch on, I can't enjoy my beer with some dick knocking it over because he's too into the music and starts flailing around like a spaz.
>>
Just came back from checking out the West Coast Computer Faire. It was kind of cool. That Jobs kid from Apple really thinks there'll be a personal computer in every home by the time he's old enough to retire, but IDK. I can't really imagine anyone having a practical use for one.

Well, I hope the new administration can get something done about the economy especially since Carter has his own party firmly running Congress.

Big deal, I'm a roadie for Aerosmith and I see much worse backstage at their shows. Mostly 'cos I'm in charge of scoring the white stuff for them. But don't tell nobody that. *taps finger on side of nose*

Who did you know that had one? Before Commodore 64, I knew no one with a computer and even with the commodore out, very few people had computers.

This movie makes me feel kinda funny in my pants.

I'm thinking of starting a club for the appreciationof funny animal characters.

I'm calling it the Brotherhood of Animated Sentient Species, or BROANISS for short.

I hear IPC/Fleetway are bringing in a new comic called '2000AD' or something soon, sci-fi sort of affair. I've been getting kind of tired with their other stuff lately, do you think it'll will be any good?

Also I find Moll Moonlight to be rather, appealing, not just from an art appreciation standpoint but actually getting me in a 'oo-er miss' kind of flutter. Does anyone else have this problem?

I, I just want to be your everything
Open up the Heaven in your heart and let me be
The things you are to me
And not some puppet on a string

Oh, if I, if I stay here without you, darling, I will die
I want you laying in the love I have to bring
I'd do anything
To be your everything

These lads' mags are getting crazier by the minute. Whatever happened to wholesome comics like Eagle or Lion? Now it's all cowboys getting eaten by dinosaurs and angry supercops with big guns. I give this two years tops before it folds.

Apple make computers? I thought they were a music company, just last year they released that George Harrison LP.

I would climb any mountain
Sail across a stormy sea
If that's what it takes me baby
To show you how much you mean to me
And I guess it's just the woman in you
That brings out the man in me
I know I can't help myself
You're all in the world to me

It feels like the first time
Feels like the very first time
It Feels like the first time
It Feels like the very first time

I just bought Sin After Sin at the record shop the other day. Bloody glorious. Get lost, Sabbath. We don't need you anymore.

So, have you guys heard of that 2000 ad in Britain? Gee, I wonder how long they're going to last.

It's 1977 so underground comix are pretty much dead, except for Crumb and a few others who still keeps working. But in just a few years, it will have a revival as "alternative comics" with RAW and Weirdo that will last until present day. So keep on trucking Crumb. See you in the 80's

>It's 1977 so underground comix are pretty much dead

Yeh the hippie era is a distant memory by this point and popular culture has gotten darker and removed from 60s idealism. Punk rock is emerging and Gallup polls show that Americans are feeling much less optimistic about the future than they did 5 years ago.
>>
Why doesn't DC or Marvel publish any underground comix? I'd start reading them but I'm not splurging $0.25 on some no-name artist.
"The man" strikes again.

>>
>>78945608

Yes, a hundred times yes. Someday I'll be a kid and my dad will show it to me and it'll give me a ton of nostalgia when I'm in my 20's.
>>
>>78951155
Not at all. The 60s was a violent, chaotic time that almost brought the country to its knees. During the 70s, there was not a lot of nostalgia for the race riots, Vietnam War, or assassinations and most people were just glad it was over and wanted to move on.
>>
>>78951129
Yup, but that was not a bad thing for underground comics actually. since american punk culture in the 80's transfered the whole DIY spirit to alternative cartoonists. So they started doing their own minicomics. This became known as the"newave" of underground comics. Check out Pic related. It's a great collection.

>>78951155
No way. American punk in the 80's was.
>>
Anybody got an issue of "Brother Power The Geek" I can borrow?
>>
>>78951384
Certainly different in spirit though; the 60s era was highly political and about changing the world while the 80s underground stuff had more to do with Gen Xer whinefests that they'd never escape the boomers' shadow.
>>
>>78951585
Ironic because the original first wave punk rockers like Nina Hagen, Debbie Harry, Joey Ramone, and Wendy O. Williams were all boomers. None of them were Gen Xers. Those were just the kids buying the records. In fact Henry Rollins (born 1961) was really the first who could actually be considered a Gen Xer.
>>
>>78951908
You want to nitpick, Mick Jagger and Jerry Garcia weren't really boomers either if the boomer generation started in 1946.
>>
>>78951384
Yeah I know about Heavy Metal Magazine. That was another underground punk-themed publication.
